I have some documents I'd like to have linked from a map. I can share the map in a web app with everyone and people can see it without getting challenged. The linked documents trigger a challenge, however. They have been added as items to my arcgis online account and shared with everyone. Is this as expected, or am I missing something? I'd like to make a map and link to these documents, and share with everyone, without a challenge when they hit the link. Is this possible? Thank you, Randy McGregor

I'm a bit confused about the cost of adding a user to a Portal vs ArcGIS Online. The cost for adding users to ArcGIS Online are clear and posted on the web. Portal deployments appear to come with 55 creators (5 standard, 50 advanced), but I have no idea how much adding more users costs if you use those up. I would very much appreciate either an answer to this question or a pointer to a link that answers it. I have looked and not found it. Thank you, Randy McGregor

If I put the same feature class into "2D Layers" it publishes fine.

Thank you, I am unable to share the data. It is confidential. I checked the job queue and it says caching was completed. "Cache status: succeeded." It just refuses to open in a scene. There may be something amiss with our configuration.

No errors during publishing at all. The job was definitely finished. It was published a couple weeks ago. The problem appears to happen with point features in the 3D layers group. I can put point features in the 2D layers group and they'll drape on the surface, which is fine, but if I want to z-enable point features and put them in the 3D layers group, I get this error every time (the error happens when the scene is opened in the Portal, not during publishing). No problem whatsoever with extruded polygons, so I'm buffering points and creating "tubes" a lot. Thanks, Randy McGregor

ArcGIS Pro It looks as though I am having no luck with anything that is not a polygon as a 3D layer. Point layers with a z value are throwing this error. Thanks, Randy

I'm getting this today on a web scene that did not have this problem in the past.

I am getting this error with z-enabled point features, but not with extruded polygons in the 3D Layers group. Is that useful information? Thanks, Randy McGregor

I get this for one project when I use a z-enabled point feature with elevation set at the geometry z value. I buffered the point and extruded it and I can see the extrusion but it would be nice to place the point at its correct elevation. Any way to do this? Thank you, Randy McGregor

I see. The solution is to use Portal, rather than ArcGIS Online. That is not an option. I think I saw someone recommend buffering the points and creating cylinders. I'll try that...

Thank you! Is there a workaround? The "workaround" offered seems to just be an explanation of why this doesn't work: Solution or Workaround The data store used by ArcGIS Online requires geometry to be OGC-compliant. However, Portal for ArcGIS uses the internal Esri shape format which does not necessarily need to be OGC-compliant. Straight-up vertical lines are not treated as invalid geometry when published to Portal.

I have created a scene in ArcGIS Pro with a series of points that I created for testing. I extruded them down 1500 feet and ran layer 3d to feature class to get the following effect: When I share t his as a scene to my arcgis account, I cannot see the lines. I see the surface and the points, but the shafts simply aren't there. I see the lines in the legend, they are not visible in the scene (also, number 5 disappeared for some reason). Hoping I'm just missing something simple that someone could set me straight on? Sorry if it's an obvious thing I'm overlooking. I'm just getting started in 3D. Thank you, Randy McGregor

This is really quite necessary. Some of my dashboards have fairly long legends (unavoidable - long story) and finding what color goes with what can be a chore.

I create cross sections that are feature classes - with routing, events, dynamic segmentatoin etc. in Arcmap I put them in a map frame with no coordinate system defined - just a blank, cartesian space. Would be nice if we could decide for ourselves whether or not to enter a defined coordinate system. In fact, "Cartesian Grid" would be a wonderful coordinate system option.

Thank you very much. That was it. I got the personal use license about 9 months ago, so I didn't consider the possibility that such a rudimentary functionality required an upgrade. I appreciate it. Randy McGregor
