thanks for the confirmation. We had surveyors on the team loose 2 days worth of data. $$ loss has potential to be substantial especially if the client demands we re-travel, and re-navigate the transects. For anyone trying; an iCloud restore (even if the iCloud backup was done prior to the app update) will not bring back the data. From our investigation and testing iCloud doesn't backup Collector app data.

[see my above edit; both iOS devices took the 10.3.4 update] I'm not 100% sure if the app update is causing un-sync'd data to be erased. 1 survey appeared to have this happen to them; another surveyor's data was fine. Both using iOS Collector on iPhones; both devices took the auto update. One thing that we did notice is that after the iTunes "save to" of all files/folders under the Collector app is that the "on device" tab of Collector gets cleared. It's like iTunes "save to" is removing/clearing the Collector app data. Weird thing is that you can wire up the device to iTunes a 2nd, 3rd + time and perform another "save to" and the data is still there; view-able in iTunes and after its saved to PC disk. iTunes must be modifying the Collector app data folders/files in some way that ver. 10.3.4 is unable to read. We have not noticed this on previous Collector releases; someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I can't believe more people aren't reporting this. Same here that's the only explanation we have also. UHG.

I checked the device, it had v. 10.3.4. Is that the issue? Non sync'd data was whipped during the iOS update to collector 10.3.4? Edit: Another surveyor successfully used iTunes to dump his data on the same day, everything was in tact. His device doesn't did auto update, was also at v. 10.3.4

yes, I highlighted all the contents in iTunes (userName_replicaID folder, basemaps folder and all the files) then hit SaveTo. The resulting folders on the C:/ drive where the runtime.geodatabase should have been were empty. iTunes also displayed a "zero" size of the folder. When I first saw that I got nervous. Supposedly, the device owner said he was able to see the map and un-sync'd data in the "on device" tab of collector prior to the attempted iTunes dump. But, iTunes doesn't dump anything but blank folders. Did the iTunes connection, then iTunes "SYNC" operation wipe the Collector app data before I was able to perform the SaveTo ?

we recently had a Collector Sync issue; so the solution was to grab the runtime.geodatabase using iTunes. iOS device was connected, iTunes was launched, Sync button pressed. Now iTunes, Apps/Collector shows the downloaded folder, but it's empty. Ugh, any hope here to get the data?

I checked with field staff and new photos were always captured, never added from library, so we can rule out #1. Since several prior sync's worked, I'm guessing it's either #2 or #3. What is a good value for uploadReadAheadSize ? It's currently the default value 49152 byes. MS docs say 0 - 2147483647 bytes are acceptable values.

Server 10.3.1, SDE gdb has archiving and editor tracking enabled. Secured feature service using built-in token store; server is not federated. Feat. service added to AGOL, with service credentials stored with item. Several successful sync's have been preformed, then Collector started reporting "illegal start of token" errors. Any advice?

this kind of goes against the purpose of a coded value domain, but... a single field, any way to allow users to: 1. choose from drop-down domain value or 2. enter free text appears that now, it's either option #1 or #2, not both. thanks

I'm looking for ideas here... Each time tabular related data is sync'd from Collector would there be a way to fire a custom script? on-premis ArcGIS server and SDE geodatabase Each time changes are synchronized from the server-created replica, back to SDE, fire a python script. The python script would look if all fields have been completed, then update a "attr_status" column in the feature class. An AGOL webmap would symbolize based on the "attr_status" column. Script is easy part, hooking into the Server Sync event, not so much. thanks.

Are you working with versioned data? I was also having the same problem, see here: 10.3.3 false sync

thanks so much Scott! That was exactly the case; a new version gets created when the map is taken offline, then the changes are saved in that version, which has to be reconciled/posted back to default. Do you know, was this recently added in 10.3.3? Regardless, everything is working as-expected; next time I need to dig deeper into the docs b4 posting.

The problem looks to be gdb versioning; for anyone else experiencing this issue, archiving solved the problem. The gdb also has editor tracking and attachments enabled on a table. Collector 10.3.2 SDE Geodatabase (SQL Server Express 2012), registered as versioned Default version added to map, published as Server 10.3.1 sync enabled feature service Feature service added as item to AGOL, credentials stored with service item Added item to webmap, saved Adding feature and/or related records worked great both online and offline Upgraded to Collector 10.3.3 Used the same web map as above Adding feature and/or related records worked online, NOT offline Sync would appear to be successful, but "last sync" on service endpoint/replica remained unchanged Data never made it to SDE geodatbase Collector 10.3.3 Unregistered the SDE Geodatabase as versioned Enabled archiving on the SDE Geodatabase Created new map document re-published as Server 10.3.1 sync enabled feature service Feature service added as item to AGOL, credentials stored with service item Added item to new webmap, saved Adding feature and/or related records worked great both online and offline

10.3.2 would sync related data and/or feature data perfectly fine, no changes to the services were made. Upgrade to 10.3.3 Collector on iOS. Collect new related data and/or feature then sync over wifi. Rest Endpoint: Replica page last sync date is not changed. Obviously the data is not in the SDE geodatabase. Shouldn't Collector (or ArcGIS Server) throw an error? I'm not seeing anything. Anyone else have this issue?

2 older Trimble GeoXH 2008 series units that are running the latest version of ArcPad. We need at least a 7 megapixel camera to wireless connect to the Trimble unit; which is running Windows Mobile 6.1. We have tried for 5+ years now with Trimble TrimPix wifi solution and I'm sick of the "hopefully it connects today" workflow. Current cameras are Nikon Coolpix P1. 1. what new digital cameras are compatible with WinMobile 6+ and ArcPad? Are there specific features of new cameras I should look for with regard to compatibility? 2. Can you connect a newer digital camera to the trimble using Bluetooth? 3. what about using wifi? If anyone could explain their working setup, and specific hardware, I'd really appreciate it. thanks.
