Hi does anyone know if this is possible in Survey 123? Say I have a survey with a "select_one" question that presents the user with a number of options. Depending on what option the user selects they will be presented with a number of Y/N questions. These questions will be different depending on the option and the number of questions can vary as well but they are always Y/N answers. In my scenario there are hundreds of Y/N questions but they will all not be necessarily be answered (depending on the select_one option) i.e. select_one Option 1 Question 1 Y/N Question 2 Y/N select_one Option 2 Question 1 Y/N Question 2 Y/N Question 3 Y/N Question 4 Y/N select_one Option 3 Question 1 Y/N Question 2 Y/N Question 3 Y/N I know that the display of the questions can be achieved using the "relevant" column and I understand the notion of "repeats" but I want to write the question text and the answer to a related table rather than configuring a flat feature class with hundreds of columns for all the different questions as this leads to a lot of redundancy and blows out the limitations of the feature class. Hope this explanation is clear? Any ideas anyone? Cheers Callum

Hi Just a note on this that may help others. I had this error exactly as explained in the original post writing to a SDE featureclass and it turned out the issue was a length of a field. I had a text field length 10 and was trying to write some text to it that was longer than 10. The cursor ran through without a problem but when I tried to commit the edits with editor.StopOperation I got the error "SystemError: error return without exception set". To resolve the issue all I had to do was make the text field larger. cheers Callum

Thanks Hector Yes I'm in discussions with the distributor here in NZ. So far we think it is something to do with the archiving? I will let you know how we get on and if/when we get to the bottom of it. Cheers Callum

Hi Hector Yes I can edit and delete the features via the map document. I republished like you suggested and I still cannot edit or delete via the new feature service. Looking at the workspaces: Original Service: New Feature Service: In terms of software our federated portal server environment id all 10.3.1. Our Enterprise GDB is hosted on SQL Server 2012 (SP1) If you want to take this discussion offline you can email me on callum.smith@downer.co.nz cheers Callum

Thanks Hector I am still experiencing this issue. Please see a extract from the log file: I have no idea what is causing the issue. My feature service points to a non versioned feature class in a enterprise GDB. When I look at the layer properties via the rest api I see: However I have another feature service pointing to another unversioned feature class in the same enterprise geodatabase that is working fine. When I look at the layer properties via the rest api I see: As far as I can tell everything else is the same??? I am at a loss why I cannot update or edit my features via the feature service? cheers Callum

Hi Hector I have a FC in a SDE GDB that was versioned in another GDB but now it has been copied to another GDB and is no longer versioned. No matter what I do when I publish feature service it always sets "Supports Rollback On Failure" to true. I have other feature services pointing to non versioned featureclasses and this is always set to false. This is causing me heaps of issues as the users cannot update or delete any features. I have tried to update this parameter using the rest updateDefinition with a json input as {"SupportsRollbackOnFailureParameter": false} but this just throws a 500 error Service does not exist in folder? How can I change this parameter? Cheers Callum

Hi Andy I am having the same issue as Marshall with the 403 errors. Can you please elaborate with what is involved with importing the self-signed cert into the Trusted root store. Thanks Callum

Hi Please consider the following scenario for Survey 123 Cascading Selects. Question 1 Category with 2 options A, B Question 2 Group with 4 options 1, 2, 3, 4 If the user selects A for question 1 then the valid options are 1, 2, 3 for Question 2 If the user selects B for question 1 then the valid options are 2, 3, 4 for Question 2 I know this can be done with cascading selects but the "entries" for 2 and 3 have to be duplicated like this list_name name label category category A A category B B group 1 1 A group 2 2 A group 3 3 A group 2 2 B group 3 3 B group 4 4 B It would be nice if this could be achieved without having to duplicate the options for the group question? i.e. Normalised. Is this possible? E.G. list_name name label category category A A category B B group 1 1 A group 2 2 A,B group 3 3 A,B group 4 4 B How do we allow the options for the group to be allowed in 2 (or more) categories? cheers Callum

Hi we are experiencing the same issue as well. With the new version of survey 123 on Android and IOS it hangs on "Getting Service Information". With the older version it works fine. This is a major issue for us as we have many users who can no longer submit surveys. Needs to be fixed ASAP If anyone has a solution or workaround for this then please post it!

Hi Jay Yes it is a bit manual but you onlu have to do it once. If you follow the procedure and set your survey up with a submission_url the data will be stored in sde. i.e. as soon as the survey is submitted the data will be in your sde featureclass you don't have to run any scripts. We like that approach as it gives us more "flexibility" with the data moving forward in a enterprise gdb cheers Callum

Hi Tucker You have to enable z-values on the featureclass and check the "use default values" on the feature service when publishing. You don't have to do anything in the survey xlsx except enter the submission url. We have used this process for a number of surveys we have here and it is working well. We are using portal/server 10.3.1. What version are you using or are you using online? Callum

Agreed. Everything you need should be on this posting. Basically as Blake has eluded to there are many different ways to achieve what you want. Its just a matter of working through the options and using the one you are most comfortable with. cheers Callum

OK you need to install pip. 1. On the web search for get-pip.py, download it and place it in your python installation folder e.g. "C:\python27\arcGIs10.4" 2. On a command shell navigate to the python install folder and type "python get-pip.py" NOTE: if you have a proxy server add the flag --proxy {proxy details} 3. pip will be installed in the scripts folder e.g. "C:\python27\arcGIs10.4\scripts" 4. Download the "requests-2.11.1.tar.gz (md5)" from the requests site https://pypi.python.org/pypi/requests/2.11.1#downloads 5. in a command shell navigate to "C:\python27\arcGIs10.4\scripts" (Where pip is installed) and type the following command to install the requests module "pip install {path to requests-2.11.1.tar.gz (md5)}. If you have a proxy server use the proxy flag as you did above. Requests will now be installed and you van now use pip to install other modules. cheers Callum
