Thanks for the script. Could you help me out with this bit... KeyError 'x'. Is that because your script is for point data? I would like to append to a polygon dataset.

@JoeBorgione Not part of a data management solution — just a way to improve data entry. Incidentally, we've decided to go with free text instead. @DanPatterson Are you suggesting using subtypes — roads by suburb. Yeah, this is an option. Update: I created a domain with 50k records by using 'integer' as the field type (i.e. integer for the coded value). Previously I was using text which probably blew out the size. It actually works pretty well in ArcGIS Online — the drop-down list is responsive. But, ArcGIS Pro 2.4.1 doesn't like it at all. I have to use ArcMap to update the domain. Anyway, we've decided to go with free text for now — much easier.

That is, how many rows or values can a domain support? I am looking at creating a drop-down list for Road Names — but it's over 70k records. ArcGIS Pro did not like this!

I've created a item in ArcGIS Portal (version 10.5.1) from an AGOL feature hosted service. It's a secure service and I have 'stored credentials with service item' (see screen capture below). I see the AGOL REST url has a 'token=' in the URL. My questions are: - will the service expire? - are there any other issues with this approach? So far, I've experience no issues. items from web

It is possible is caputre only one record for each button? Here's my workflow: 1. Enter an incident number (required) 2. Capture records for Deployed, arrived, departed. Idealy, the user should only be able to click each button once i.e. one record for deployed for that incident .. Currently, the user can hit the deployed button multiple times. Enter an incident number Buttons

I will say that best practices and examples for updating data in ArcGIS Online is something that we're looking to put out a series of detailed blogs on. This would be useful! I've created a simple model for 'delete rows' & append new data. I've tested it out & it works fine. New features pop-up on the Collector app in offline mode (once synchronised). Will be testing it out for the cadastra dataset — which is quite large. I was hoping ArcGIS Pro would have an out-of-the-box update methodology for sync-enabled layers. But I appreciated there are many varied scenarios for updating data — as you mentioned.

Thanks for the reply. I'm only using Survey123 to edit attributes of existing features, not to create new features. I've used repeats before, but for related tables rather than a related layer. I created relationship between my lines & points layers. However, the XLSForm only shows attributes for the points layer, and the lines don't show on the map in Survey123. Re: the second question. This works! Thank you. The basemap needs to go offline, so I can make a .tpk with the layers I need.

Think I already know the answer for this, but just in case. I have an existing point and a line feature hosted service. I plan to create a survey to edit just the attributes of these services. 1. A single survey can only have one geometry type i.e. point or line? Not both. 2. Is it is possible to have the line feature hosted service as a reference layer on the basemap? I suspect the answer is yes for question 1 and no for question 2.

Yes, update a Hosted Feature Layer with sync enabled. It is not possible to overwrite a Feature Hosted Layer with sync enabled: https://community.esri.com/message/845787-re-cannot-overwrite-hfs-with-views?commentID=845787#comment-845787 I've investigated this script - but can't get it to work for me. https://community.esri.com/docs/DOC-11621-update-hosted-feature-service-with-feature-class Scenario: Maps made for Collector usually have reference layers, such as, road network. These layers need to go offline (sync enabled) and need to updated on occasions. From what I've read, the only way to update layers with sync enabled is to append. I'm currently looking at using the geoprocessing functions: delete rows & append to update these layer. But, as Jordan Miller asks, it would be good to know what is Esri's recommended method.

Yes, I have discovered the same thing. The scenario is, I want to share a view (with a definition query) to a group (with editing enabled). That way, members of the group can update the view & will only see the fields & attributes relevant to their task. However, anyone from the group can remove the query if they felt so inclined. Perhaps the group could have a setting that removes the ability to edit definition queries of views….

Thanks Patrick for clearing that up. Bug-000124770 was marked as 'related' in the My Esri support ticket. Is this there a Bug case number for the license.json issue?

Esri has responded to the bug report: BUG-000124770: The DCAT attributes for a ArcGIS Hub site's data.jso.. ArcGIS Hub does not support DCAT for private sites. As user report that this is new behavior, perhaps a bug was recently fixed in which, Hub previously exposed the …/data.json endpoint for private sites when it should not have been doing that in the first place. Also, looking at the DCAT configuration for the public site referred to in the bug report, the email address points to a field that does not exist (in the metadata for the item). If the user wants that to be valid, ensure the metadata for the item actually contains that field. We would be willing to work with user to see what is exactly going on in their particular configuration or scenario. Private sites? I have no idea what the technician is talking about. Any ideas?

As admin, I had to delete a new Named User account (wrong email/password etc). And as discussed, I couldn't recreate the same Named User (even though it was brand new). Questions: 1. Do Named User accounts (i.e. jamesbond) free-up after a certain period of time? 2. Can Esri Support free up a Named User account manually? Thx.

This is a known bug. I submitted the bug report back in August! BUG-000124770: The DCAT attributes for a ArcGIS Hub site's data.jso.. Perhaps you could escalate this bug with Esri Support to help with expediting a fix.
