@ChrisFoxI am not seeing a Blocks or Detours section in the editing form in Experience Builder or Map Viewer. They do show up on the Configure Form page in the web map

I just deployed the Road Closure solution version 2.0 on ArcGIS Enterprise 11.2 and got errors in the popups for the blocks and detours in the public feature view layer. The problem was that the closureglobalid field is not included in the view for both the blocks and detours. Updating the feature layer view definitions to include that field fixed the popup error. However, I am not sure why the relationships are included in the popup because no relationships are established through the out-of-the-box editing experience. The solution has to be updated to populate the closure GlobalID in the blocks and detours features.

My organization is looking at deploying the Road Closure solution version 2.0. During the creation of a road closure, blocks, and detour I noticed that the closure popup had placeholders for related blocks and detours. I did not see a way to relate those features during the creation of the features and I had to open up the service properties page to see that relationship was built off of the closure GlobalID. Is there an easy way to associate closures, blocks, and detours during the creation of the features? Would there be an issue with creating an Arcade expression to find the most recently added intersecting closure to copy the GlobalID to the blocks and detours?

I think the new feature service functionality is fairly close to what I had in mind. What would be great is to have a way to add those dashboards created with ArcGIS Monitor data as new tabs in the Organization->Status->Dashboard section if that is the direction Esri is going with ArcGIS Monitor. What I had in mind is a tab in the Organization->Status->Dashboard section that showed indicators for server health and ArcGIS Enterprise software health. Basically, a simple one stop place for admins to look at within ArcGIS for Portal to know what the overall health of the portal is. Then if there is an issue clicking on the issue launches the federated ArcGIS Monitor site to get more information. I am looking for something that lets me stay within ArcGIS for Portal and only go into ArcGIS Monitor if there is an issue to troubleshoot.

I am not sure why they have that requirement for the upgrade. My guess would be a copy of the contents of the directory are made during the upgrade. I know that is what happens to the content directory for Portal for ArcGIS. I would highly recommend following Esri's recommendation to manually create backups of all your data stores before proceeding with the upgrade. As for your last two questions, the describedatastore command will show you where your backups are currently saved and the configurebackuplocation will let you change the location if needed. I hope that helps.

If the Portal for ArcGIS home page is set to view only mode, disable the home page editor and show a message at the top of the home page editor that says the home page is in view only mode. We recently had an issue where after upgrading ArcGIS Enterprise our home page was somehow set to viewOnly and it required looking through the config settings in /sharing/rest/portals/self to find that. It would have been much easier if the home page editor was disabled, and a message shown saying that the home page was in view only mode.

Somehow our home page was set to view only mode and when that happened a default home page was shown to users instead of our custom home page. Please change the behavior of Portal for ArcGIS after setting portalProperties "homePage" to "viewOnly" to show whatever home page was last saved using the home page editor instead of a default home page layout.

For anyone else with this issue, the problem was a setting in portalProperties called "homePage" was set to "viewOnly". Changing that value to "modern" fixed the issue. The portalProperties is found on the /webadaptorname/sharing/rest/portals/self page. I did not set that property to "viewOnly", we have been using a modern home page since they first became available, and we have upgraded ArcGIS Enterprise multiple times since then. So, I am not sure how the property became "viewOnly" or why that value would ignore our custom home page. I would assume the home page being view only would either hide the home page editor or gray out the tools in the home page editor with a warning that the home page was in view only mode.

I upgraded ArcGIS Enterprise 11.1 to 11.2 and now a different home page is being shown. If I click on Edit Home Page I see my custom home page layout in the editor. I tried saving without changing anything and also made a few changes then saved, but I still see what appears to be the default home page design. I verified that the custom home page is saved as a resource in JSON format. I saved a copy of the home.page.json resource, deleted the resource, and then the Edit home page tool showed the same home page design that is actually being used. I made a few changes, clicked save, and a new home.page.json resource was created. Unfortunately, the default home page is still what is shown to the user. Anyone else having this issue with ArcGIS Enterprise 11.2 and did you figure out how to fix it?

Please add a way to associate a layer file with a dataset being published through bulk publishing. Most of my users are not GIS users and do not know how or need to know how to symbolize services or define popups. It is frustrating that every time a sync is run all symbology and popups are reset. Having a way to say apply this layer file to this dataset in the bulk publishing process would fix that issue. This issue has really limited the usefulness of bulk publishing for my organization.

I think it would be helpful to have a new interface when bulk publishing that allows a user to select which layers should be published, unpublished, or synced. When setting up bulk publishing have an interface that shows all the datasets available through the database connection with three different options associated with each dataset depending on its status. One option for publishing, another for unpublishing, and a third for syncing. Then have a way to select multiple datasets plus a select all/unselect all button. That way users can manage the datasets in bulk or individually as is needed. I have found that initially the publish everything available to the database connection is great, but after that I need to make small adjustments to individual layers over time and not everything all at once.

Provide an interface to select which layers to sync after clicking the sync button. Currently when I need to add or remove a new layer all my existing bulk published layers sync and wipe out symbology and popups. Plus it seems like it would save time and resources to only execute the sync on layers that actually need to be synced.

Did you see the recent announcement for the Manager (beta) instant app? It will be replacing the Crowdsource Manager solution eventually. https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-instant-apps-blog/introducing-manager-beta/ba-p/1339221?rsource=https:%2F%2Flinks.esri.com%2Finstant-apps-help%2Fblog-manager I have not heard of any replacements for Crowdsource Reporter. I wonder if you could use a combination of EB and the Survey123 widget to make something similar.

As one that has updated solutions manually in the past, I agree that it would be great to have the ability to do an inplace update sometimes. That said, I understand why Esri does not do inplace updates. Once a solution is deployed we can customize it however we choose, from a little to a lot. An inplace upgrade would surely break those customizations, or even cause conflicts that cause things to start throwing errors. Esri's current processing of do a new deployment and migrate your content and customizations into the new deployment is the safest way to migrate. Maybe Esri could develop a way to test if a solution has not been modified and then offer an inplace update?

Somewhere there should be an upgrade log file on portal server that has a more detailed message of what failed. I wish I could tell you where it is exactly but it has been several years since I got that error during an upgrade. It might actually be recorded in the standard portal log file (Drive:\arcgisportal\logs\servername\portal) or that log might point you to the log file I am thinking about. That is how I found out at an item somehow got on the data migration list twice and that was causing the upgrade database to fail for me.
