Hi Robert, I am using the sample which you have given in this thread..Its working fine for few layers but the same code fails when i try to do attribute query on a particular layer. can u please help me with the issue. I am using Bing maps as the basemap and the code shows wrong output for an attribute query. Basemap doesnt matter, You need to make sure that you are getting geometry back from Find as that is the geometry you are using to query data..

I think what you are trying to do can be done easily with layer definition query using a feature layer.. this link will help you to do that http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/flex/apiref/com/esri/ags/layers/FeatureLayer.html here is a sample from resource center http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/flex/samples/index.html?sample=FeatureLayerBasedOnMapServerLayer Although, this sample is showing class renderer, but you can use other options too like definition expression dynamically and change the color/display dynamically...

Change it like this
<mx:TextArea id="myTextArea" width="250" height="95" />
and delete this
</mx:TextArea>
One more thing, i will clean the solution and then rebuild it...Also, you can delete the line, and rewrite it as i dont see anything wrong with it...

Thank you Matt. Weird. Can't find any pricing for the ArcGis server options (server, cloud, online, etc.)? I just need the basics for now. To be able to build flex/air mobile apps for Tablets that plot my own data on satellite maps with custom markers and allow me to add my own flex charts, etc. on click of marker or selection of location from a flex list. So, I'm still not clear if I buy ArcGis online or a server or cloud and how much each of them are? Thanks, Don Don, First start using ArcGIS API for Flex as you was using Google's API. Once you will get use to it than you can explore more to buy server to publish your own data but for testing, you can use all services from ESRI for Free. Here is the URL for ArcGIS Server pricing. http://www.esri.com/software/arcgis/arcgisserver/pricing.html Also, if you wana check it out, try it on Amazon cloud..In my personal opinion, you should buy a copy of EDN (Esri Developer Network, $1500/Year), here is what comes with EDN EDN includes ArcGIS for Server (Advanced, Standard, and Basic editions) for Microsoft .NET and Java platform ArcGIS for Server extensions: 3D, Data Interoperability, Geostatistical, Image, Network, Schematics, and Spatial ArcGIS Engine Developer Kit for .NET, Java, COM, and cross-platform C++ ArcGIS Engine Runtime ArcGIS Engine extensions: 3D, Data Interoperability, Geodatabase Update, Maplex, Network, Schematics, Spatial, and Tracking ArcGIS Mobile ArcGIS for Desktop (add-on subscription) with 3D, Network, and Spatial extensions Data and Maps for ArcGIS Discounts on support and training http://www.esri.com/software/arcgis/edn/index.html

Thank you for your reply but I need more information.When I click point on the map that represent 360 image how to get that image? Is it by using reverse geocoding? What type of service to create on arc gis server of that images?. I'm am just flex/java programmer and I am not farmiliar with arcgis server very well. store lat/long and image locations URL in a database. Then query that data and generate a point graphic layer dynamically. Associate click event to point and use the image Location URL to display image in an info window. you do not need to publish anything to arcgis server...

create a graphic layer/feature layer from server showing all the points and then pull the particular picture by clicking the point...it is simple but you have to do some database work first..

Trying to place some space between icons in the widget tray so that they could look more grouped. What I tried was to put a blank icon between those icons, and in the config.xml file, for the blank icon i leave config="" and url="". The problem with it is that when user click the blank icon, it keeps spinning. Anyone has better idea on that? Either put space between icons or put fake icons that dont function would work for me. Thanks! not a very elegant solution but just write an empty function...so it wont spin for long time....
protected function youClickedMe():void{}
Mike, Also, unlike some other areas, ESRI has actually done a fairly good job with their documentation for Flexviewer: http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapps/flexviewer/help/index.html you do not have to publish your xls to view in flex viewer. you can create your own widget using AS3xls library and display data dynamically....look at this post http://zachsgeospatial.blogspot.com/2010/06/mapping-point-data-from-excel.html Thanks

Robert, Thanks. But is there a documentation or generic example that one can follow or modify to fit custom needs....I mean you can not openly published a service and let everybody in org do whatever they feel like...lol that will be a disaster... Thanks Zahid National Park Service
