In my mobile app for iOS, Android (and Windows but for this question that platform is N/A) I have enabled the use of mobile map packages for offline maps. I configured the app to be able to search for, download, store and use mmpks. But if the device also has Navigator for ArcGIS or Explorer for ArcGIS installed (or other apps that support mmpks, for that matter) and has mmpks for them, can I also leverage those so as to not potentially duplicate stored data? If so, where on the device can I access them? Thanks, Ken

Probably a noob question. Periodically some of the text in my app gets replaced with unintelligible strings of characters. See pic. I promise that in code all of the Text on this interface is in the English language using Latin characters in a pattern such as this: text: qsTr("A Text String in English") Yet every now and then on an unpredictable basis they get replaced by what you see in the pic. If I kill the app and relaunch it, the interface returns to the original, legible content. What did I do or not do that causes this and how do I fix it?

How do you programmatically publishing a new feature service from an existing one? In my app I would like to enable users with appropriate privileges to publish a new feature service by using an existing feature service url. I use a network request which partially looks like this: NetworkRequest { id: createServiceNetworkRequest method: "POST" url: portalUrl + "/sharing/rest/content/users/" + username + "/publish" responseType: "json" The body of the request looks something like this: {"access":"","description":"","f":"json","fileType":"featureService","itemid":"<<itemid of source feature service>>","name":"My New Feature Service","publishParameters":{"sourceUrl":"<<url to source feature service>>},"snippet":"A new feature service","tags":"my tag","token":"<<my valid token>>"} But the response comes back as follows: "{\"error\":{\"code\":400,\"message\":\"Unable to publish item.\",\"details\":[\"'publishParameters' must be specified.\"]}}" Clearly I am not forming the request correctly. Or perhaps there is an entirely different means to this end? How should I be doing this? Thanks, Ken

I set up a custom url for my app and Made it for iOS, Android, Win32 and Win64. I deployed the iOS app to my iPhone and the Win64 version to my laptop. I emailed myself some links that call the app and pass in some parameters. Clicking the links in my email client on the iPhone opens the app, but the parameters either do not get passed in or something about the app ignores them. Either way they do not get applied to the the app. Clicking the links in my email client on the laptop opens the app every time, but seems to pass in the parameters exactly every other time. Thus the first time I click a link, the app opens but no parameters are applied. The second time I click it the app opens and the parameters are applied. If I then clear the parameters from the app, thus restoring it to 'factory settings', the next two times I click the link the exact same sequence of results occurs. I haven't tested Android yet. Is there something I can check to figure out what causes it to fail the first time but succeed the second on Windows and to fail every time on iOS? I assume this is something I am doing wrong since this is the first time I am implementing this. Any and all suggestions are welcome. Thanks, Ken

So after spending some time researching this it seems iOS does not signal onOnlineStateChanged. I got around this by setting up a timer that regularly checks AppFramework.network.isOnline and calls my desired methods appropriately. In my case I have the app disable the map when network goes away and reenable it when the network comes back. This works just fine in AppStudio Player on the dev machine and on the device, but when I call Cloud Make and then deploy the app to a device this no longer works when I switch to airplane mode on the device. Is there something different in this regard between AppStudio Player vs a deployed app? Thanks, Ken

It appears leveraging of device sensors other than location while the app is backgrounded or while the screen is off is not supported in Runtime 100. Will this be supported in the future? My app runs in the background providing continuous location values which, not surprisingly, grinds through the battery in pretty short order. Given that the device might frequently sit still for minutes or hours at a time, it makes sense (for this use case, at least) to not gather location data during that time. I was experimenting to see if I could utilize the gyroscope sensor to deactivate PositionSource if the gyroscope indicates the device is motionless or relatively so, and then reactivate it when the gyro senses device motion. This worked well (way better than I expected) when the screen is on and the app is in the foreground, but doesn't work otherwise. Is it on the roadmap? Thanks, Ken

Hi Kaushik, Thanks. I am certainly willing to consider they are unrelated to one another. However, it seems they might be related. I thought that if the licensing is expired or misconfigured, maybe that’s the reason why the app won’t transfer. That seems possible, especially since they both occurred at the same time and after making no changes to the app. Furthermore I tried to install the app on another iPhone and was similarly unable to transfer the app. Not sure if this reinforces the notion of a problem with the app. Or could it perhaps be a problem on the OTA server? Looking for suggestions. Ken

I have an app I wrote in AppStudio on Runtime 10.2.6 that was licensed at the Basic level. For several weeks it had been running fine until last week when I could no longer open it on my iPhone even though I had not changed any code or even opened the project. When I tried to run the app on my iPhone, it gave me the message indicating the developer was untrusted and until I trusted it in the iPhone settings, it would not run. However, going to iPhone settings to set the developer as trusted also failed. I had gone through these steps when I first deployed the app, so why did it suddenly stop trusting? I tried to remake the app and redeploy it but I get messages that the app can not be transferred. If I open the app page in https://developers.arcgis.com/applications/ and click Register App to generate a ClientID (again, which I previously did for this app) a message says 'There was an error loading OAuth credentials'. Hopefully this is just a matter of updating the licensing on the app? However, It seems most of the documentation is about licensing Runtime 100.1. I am in process of migrating the app, but in the meantime, what is required to bring this app back to life on Runtime 10.2.6? Thanks, Ken

What is the proper way to sideload Collector for ArcGIS 17.0.1 for Windows onto Windows 10 devices, if one cannot access the Windows store or Windows Store for Business? We obtained the *.appx. .appxbundle and .bin files but are unsure how to proceed. Is it documented somewhere either by Esri or a reliable third party?

That was the first thing I checked and it was enabled. I disabled/reenabled it but no change in behavior. I'll try it again. Kenneth R. My app is set up to give a notification when the network connection status changes. This works in Player but after Making and deploying it to a device it does not generate the notifications when I switch in and out of airplane mode. The issue, I believe, is not with the LocalNotification itself, but with the onOnlineStateChanged signal. I verified that notifications are enabled for this app in device settings, and indeed other notifications work correctly in my deployed app, just not the one in this signal handler; Here's my implementation: LocalNotification { id: notification } Connections { target: AppFramework.network onOnlineStateChanged: {
notification.schedule("Connection status:",online?"Connected":"Offline",0) //This notification appears in Player but not in deployed app.
}
} Is there something else I should do to enable this?

I have an app that adds features to a local geodatabase and periodically syncs with the host feature service. It runs fine on the Windows 10 dev machine (ALT+SHIFT+R from Qt Creator) but if I push it to AGOL and download it to AppStudio Player on my iPhone it fails to add points to the offline table. Specifically, it runs correctly right up until I call GeodatabaseFeatureTable.addFeature(myFeatureJSON). This method succeeds on the dev machine but consistently returns -1 on the phone. Similarly, if I Make the app and side load it to my phone I get the same behavior. I get the same results whether I change the feature service used in the app or test it on other iPhones (I haven't tried it on Android) What could be the cause of this and how might I go about fixing it? Thanks, Ken

Hey Nakul Thanks for the code. Comparing it to my code, I found an error in my code that caused it to lose the path to the local GDB after creation which is what caused GDB.valid to return false. That part is working now. Now on to fix other problems. Thanks again. Ken
