Hi Mike, Thank you very much for your reply. If I understand your answer correctly you are proposing to use constraints in both cases and a hidden field in the second case to convert all positive entries to a negative value. Although I haven't fully understood the purpose of the hidden field and neither its potential, I think the customer requirements are rather focused on the behavior of the question types when entering values. They are looking for a kind of WYSIWYG behavior. First instance If you have an integer question with spinner appearance that displays the value 0 and you hit the minus button the displayed value changes to -1. We would like to restrict the displayable values to the range of 0 to 359. So, if the integer question displays the value 0 and you hit the minus button the displayed value changes to 359. (Technically, you would be able to hold the plus button down forever and the displayed values would always run from 0 to 359 and then to 0 again to 359 and so on.) Second instance Again, it is the display of the value that is in the focus. No matter if the user enters "12.34" or "-12.34", the question should automatically display a negative value -> "-12.34". (E. g., if you want a text string to be all capitals, you can use a mask like ">AAAA". With this mask, when the user types in a lowercase letter, the question automatically displays capitals.) I hope these details help to better understand what my users are looking for. ThankS once again, best regards, Jürgen

Hello, I am facing two requirements I don't get a grip on. The customer wants to restrict the answers to a question to very specific constraints and formats: We need an (editable, integer) spinner that runs from 0 to 359 (circular angles). Spinning up from 359 starts with 0 again. Spinning down from 0 runs backwards beginning with 359. We want the values for a decimal question to be negative at all times (values between 0.00 and -100.00 with two decimal places). The user shouldn't bother if she/he enters a positive or a negative value. Thus, positive entries should be converted to negative values on the fly. Any idea how to accomplish these two requirements? If they cannot be fulfilled now, I would like to propose them as enhancements. Thank you, best regards, Jürgen

I have upgraded to ArcGIS Pro 2.2.1 recently, I want to configure an utility network. With the copy & paste trick, I also managed to create a new project environment. Now I want to add the untools package. It seems to install, at least it takes some time to do something. But I don't see the untools listed in "Installed Packages", neither after refreshing the packages information nor after restarting ArcGIS Pro. But, in the packages folder of my local conda environment (...\AppData\Local\ESRI\conda\pkgs) I do find the folder "untools-2.2.0-py36_0". Does anyone have an idea what needs to be done?

Dear James, Thank you very much for your help. The instruction how to compile the correct submission_url was the decisive hint. Meanwhile, I managed to switch my survey to an enterprise geodatabase-based feature service. Besides your help I mainly consulted this blog post from Ismael Chivite (section “If your feature service has attachments and/or relationship classes”): https://community.esri.com/groups/survey123/blog/2018/07/17/how-to-turn-supportsapplyeditswithgloablids-on-your-feature-layers But, although I finally managed to publish the geodatabase-based survey, there is still some uncertainty prevailing. I’d like to take the opportunity and ask some more questions. Your answers will help me to get a much better understanding of the entire process. Question 1 From the blog post, step #3: In ArcGIS Pro, run the Add Global IDs geoprocessing tool on all layers and tables in your File Geodatabase. I exported and downloaded the data model of my initial survey as FGDB. The feature class and tables did already have a GlobalID field in the FGDB. Why do I need to run the “Add Global IDs” geoprocessing tool? Question 2 From the blog post, step #4: In ArcGIS Pro, run the Migrate Relationship Class geoprocessing tool against relationship classes (including those for attachments) in your File Geodatabase. I got warnings, that the object ID fields of my survey feature class and tables do not participate in the relationship classes. The relationship classes use “uniquerowid” and “parentrowid” instead of the “objectid”. After I ran the Migrate Relationship Class geoprocessing tool I didn’t see any difference in the relationship class. Why do the relationship classes not use the object ID fields and, in my case, is it necessary to run the geoprocessing tool nevertheless? Question 3 From the blog post, step #5: In ArcGIS Pro, run the Disable Editor Tracking geoprocessing tool against your File Geodatabase data. From the blog post, step #6: In ArcGIS Pro, set all the Editor Tracking fields in your File Geodatabase to "Read Only" using the Design/Fields view as shown in the next animation. What is the purpose of doing this? What is the context? Question 4 From the blog post, step #8: In your portal in ArcGIS or ArcGIS Enterprise, Enable Editor Tracking (in the Setting Dialog of your feature service as shown in the next screenshot) in the Form's Feature Layer. I can’t find this option in the settings of my geodatabase-based feature service. Am I missing something? Question 5 Due to copying the feature class and tables from the FGDB to my enterprise geodatabase (PostgreSQL) their names were composed of the original names prefixed by the name of the schema owner and geodatabase. One crucial step in the entire process was to rename the layers in my map document (to be published) to exactly match the feature class and table names of the survey. In the end, my success was a combination of your help, investigation in GeoNet and some trial and error. Would it be possible to publish a step-by-step description of how to create a data model schema derived from an existing survey in an enterprise geodatabase, publish this data model as feature service and switching the survey to the geodatabase-based feature service? (In this context, especially the options and settings used to publish the feature service would be of major interest.) Question 6 And finally: I was working in an ArcGIS Enterprise 10.6/ArcGIS Pro 2.1 environment. Will it be the same process in ArcGIS Enterprise 10.5.1, especially the “enable supportsApplyEditsWithGloablIDs on your feature layer” part? I hope that my questions are not disproportionate. Thanks once again. Best regards, Jürgen

Hi James, Thanks for the hint, again pretty simple. As for the leading zero: The integer and decimal question types also allow e. g. 001 or 0003.12 respectively. This can be confusing and isn't, let's say, good style. But this is only cosmetic, not an error. Best regards, Jürgen

Hi James, My system clock is set to a 24-hour display. When I change this setting to 12-hour, the labels are still missing and the buttons seem to do nothing (actually, they can't do anything because the time format is identical for forenoon and afternoon).

Dropping one letter makes it work. Nevertheless, it seems to be a bug, either in the documentation AND in the error message or in the implementation.

Hi James, I am trying to find out, how I need to configure my survey in order to use a feature service that is running in my local portal. This is my setting: But this configuration raises a "Missing serviceItemId" error. Would it be possible to provide screenshots of an example for an ArcGIS Enterprise environment that help to understand, which form_id and submission_url need to be configured in the survey? Thank you very much in advance, best regards, Jürgen

Hi Doug, When I use the feature server address I get an code 498 invalid token error. This is, I think, because I am using Portal (see The custom feature service submission url is not compatible with this survey (Request error 498 invalid token)). This post also references a screenshot from a article in the ArcGIS online documentation (Use Survey123 with existing feature services), unfortunately, this screenshot misses the form_id entry and the url is an arcgis.com address. Which leaves me at the beginning of my quest. This is what I have: But this configuration raises the "Missing serviceItemId" error. I have no idea, what I am doing wrong or what's missing. Thanks, Jürgen

Hello, I have a survey with a geopoint question type. In the field the user shall mark the exact position where he/she is working. For the sake of faster navigation, I want to preset the geopoint with my current location without having to use a GPS device. Mobile devices should provide at least some rough location information (nearest antenna?). Is there any possibility to determine a rough estimate of my current location from the device (PC, tablet, mobile) I am using? (Unfortunately, the property() function does not provide any coordinates.) Any other ideas, who I can do the trick? Thank you very much, best regards, Jürgen

Hello, When trying to publish a survey I get this error message: It reads: This survey cannot be published - the field name aiq_surface_preparation_adequate in anomaly_inspection_repeat is too long (32) for Portal; the maximum length is 32 characters. If the maximum length for a field name is 32 characters, than why doesn't my field name (consisting of 32 characters) pass the validation? Thank you very much, best regards, Jürgen

Hello, I am using a "decimal" question type and want to restrict the answers to a certain range and to a specific format: Only values between 0 and 14 Up to two leading digits (before decimal separator) Up to two decimal places Decimal separator optional when no decimal places No leading zero I have tried various options, but none was completely satisfying. Constraint With a constraint like ". >= 0 and . <= 14" it is not possible to restrict the number of decimal places. Input Mask The input mask enforces the answer to exactly match the mask, i. e. the value 1 for the input mask 99.99 would require the answer 01.00, otherwise the answer fails validation. Regex I cannot think of any regular expression that fulfills all above mentioned restrictions since it has to do two things: Set limits to the allowed values (0 <= x <= 14) and also format the answer correctly. Moreover, I have the impression that in Survey123 regular expressions don't work correctly when applied to a decimal question. So, what I need is a combination of constraint and either input mask -> which would need to be more flexible (e. g. not enforcing the answer to exactly match the mask) or regular expression or the possibility to delimiter the number of digits before and after the decimal separator. Does anyone have an idea how to deal with this? Are there any enhancements planned for a future version of Survey123? Right now, is it possible to combine a value limiting constraint and a regular expression (I was not successful with my tests)? Thank you very much, best regards, Jürgen

Hello, Isn't it possible or intended to reset a select_one question? Once an answer is selected for the select_one question I only can change it into another answer but not reset/delete the answer. This is different from the select_one in autocomplete appearance (and other question types). From my point of view, the option to reset the answer of a select_one question is missing, especially if it is not a "required" question. What do you think? Thank you very much, best regards, Jürgen
