I am currently using Collector with Portal. You have to have your Portal account set up first. Load all your data and create your map. Then download the Collector app onto your mobile device (in my case IPad) by going here: Collector for ArcGIS | ArcGIS . Once the app is downloaded, set it up and use the option for Portal when it asks for your credentials. Use your Portal login and url. Collector should then open and you should see the map you created in Portal on your Collector maps screen. Click on the map to open it. Check out this page for more information: Create and share a map for data collection—Collector for ArcGIS | ArcGIS

From what you wrote, it sounds as though it is not necessary to use the tpk as a tiled service in order to use it. When it is added to Collector as a tpk, does it not become a tiled service? Is it still considered a tpk even though it is being used as a basemap which has tiled data? Regarding the max extent, I have set up the default extent, I just received a request that the users not be able to zoom out past a certain point. If I can set up the tpk then that will work just as well, even better since I realized I actually also need to set a minimum zoom extent.

Adding to what Jayanta said: Shapefiles used in Portal are not just recommended but are required to be in zipped format. Adding each file individually will not work. Here is a link from the Portal for Arcgis Website Help - Portal for ArcGIS Website Help This also applies to any File Geodatabases that you want to upload; ie. they must be zipped first and then uploaded and used.

Russell, Thank you for the information. If you have the time, I have a few more questions. Is there a difference credit-wise between using side-loaded or downloaded TPKs? Are sideloaded and downloaded TPKs different terms for the same thing? I have searched for both terms but I cannot find anything explaining the difference between the terms. Also, is there a way to just hard code the max extent? I know how to do that when creating my own map service with my own javascript files but Collector seems to have very limited personalized coding options available.

I would like to define the maximum extent of an ESRI basemap while the Collector is still connected online. If possible I would like to be able to clip the extent to a shape and then not go above a specific extent. I currently have the initial extent set to for a specific value but the user can still zoom out and see the entire world. I am trying to avoid using tiles when connected online since offline use requires tiles (and uses up credits). I have tried to hardcode the information but so far cannot figure out how to hardcode anything aside from the items in the DOM Explorer. I am working in Portal. Is it possible to define the max ESRI basemap extent or is this something that is not currently possible? Any assistance will be appreciated.

The images are in the Rest Services directory. Each point's attachment is grouped together with point specific ID's. Each attachment can then be viewed in the "Attachment Infos" page. For example: yourhomeportalpage/arcgis/rest/services/Hosted/PP_Collector_testgdb2/FeatureServer/1/500/attachments yourhomeportalpage/arcgis/rest/services/Hosted/PP_Collector_testgdb2/FeatureServer/1/504/attachments So far I cannot figure out how to reference the page to code the attachment to automatically be placed into a field.

I have now solved the problem for creating a field to hold the image(s) url. After adding my layer to a File Geodatabase I created a text field to hold 800 characters. I had previously tried to do this but had been unsuccessful. I still do not know why my raster field disappears once in Collector but with the improved text field I can now view images in Collector without having to click on the Attachments link. I still cannot retrieve the image Attachment URL while in Collector. So I still need to figure out a way, without needing to use a PC/Laptop, to copy the image URL from the Attachment and place in my photo field to display.

I would like to enable my popup to display a photograph that was taken in the field without having to click on the attachments' link and open a new window. I have my layer enabled to allow attachments, take photos and display the links to the photos in the popup. Currently, within Portal, I have created a map with a feature layer containing a raster field ({photo}) to hold the attachment photo url. In Portal I can attach images and copy the url to the raster field ({photo}). I have configured the popup to take the data in the raster field and display it. Two problems occur when I try to use the raster field and technique in Collector itself. 1) The raster field {photo} disappears entirely as if it never existed. 2) The link for the photo cannot be copied and subsequently pasted into the (missing) raster field. I have searched around and cannot find information about how to solve this problem. Any advice on how to solve the problems will be appreciated.

I have not had experience with a bar appearing but I have had the problem of green lines appearing. Maybe it is related? The green lines have been discussed on geonet a few times: ex. Weird lines appearing on my layout view in ArcMap green mystery lines in layout view Hopefully those links might give you some ideas about how to fix your mystery bar problem.

I can now see the image. Have you tried changing the print quality for the pdf printer in the Advanced options under Graphic? It seems like an adobe issue.

That is amazing. I went back to the other functions and fixed them up going by what you said here. I just assigned all the variable method dopplegangers the 'as' value stated in the VBA code. Thank you very much for explaining. This is information that I could not find elsewhere and was not covered in my classes.
