i find this solution very interesting! does the db and script need to live on the same machine that the License Manager lives? we have our LM on a standalone machine that is on our network. has anyone successfully implemented this approach? Dave

All, im trying to find a good way to monitor our internal license manager collect and log metrics on how many users are trying to acquire a concurrent use license, and any further information possible. ive seen some paid solutions like OpenLM, and bits and pieces of python code. python is not my favorite, so i was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction? thanks Dave

All, I was wondering if anyone else has seen the behavior where when trying to publish a geocode service to arcgis server the process just runs for about 5min followed by a "failed to publish" message. But wait there's more...the geocode service actually appears to have published on the instance of server, there are arcsocs running for the service, the service is listed in the server manager interface, and single-line input returns accurate results. I'm just wondering if its a network issue and desktop never receive the proper message back from the server and times out, thus thinking it has failed when in reality it did publish. desktop 10.5.1 server 10.5.1 thanks Dave

my original thought was that the start and end coordinates would have to be the same, but ArcMAP doesnt allow that to be saved. the user is notified that there is invalid geometry and edits cannot be saved. thanks dave

All, in an attempt to qc certain possibilities we wanted to try and create a line feature that has a valid geometry but 0.0 shape length. we actually saw this in real-world data, unfortunately, we no longer have the data set where we saw this, so i was wondering if it is even possible to create such a feature? thanks Dave

All, we recently stood up a sandbox in order to test 10.6.1 and noticed that none of our map services can be viewed via the arcgis javascript viewer. however, they can be viewed via the arcgis online viewer. has anyone else encountered this issue? i can see that they have been published to the server and that they are running and the cache exists. not sure what im missing? ArcGIS Desktop Advanced 10.6.1 ArcGIS Server Standard 10.6.1 ArcGIS Image Server 10.6.1 thanks dave

I have asked myself this same question so many times... The only thing I can think of is that if they added that support to AGOL then there would be no need to buy ArcGIS for Server. dave

All, we experienced an incident today where we had a geocoding service that was stopping and starting its own arcsocs in attempt to start up. this was happening 10s of times within an hour and ultimately took down our entire arcgis server. while on the task manager i could see the ArcSOC.exe for "goecodeserver" come and go and come and go, etc, etc. has anyone experienced this before? does anyone know what would cause this? thanks dave

All i was hoping to get some general input on how everyone was feeling about Esri only providing 10.6 - 10.7 licenses with the of Desktop (10.1 - 0.7). previously they had all versions available that had not be sunseted yet, now it seems they are gently pushing everyone to these two latest versions. on one hand i can understand, on the other hand im not sure if i like this as we are using pre 10.6 versions that are working well and had not even considered upgrading to one of the newer versions anytime soon. would just like to hear others thoughts on this. thanks dave

all, would installing and utilizing background geoprocessing assist in memory usage? I wasn't sure if the background geoprocessing was utilized for the ManageMapServerCacheTiles gptool thoughts? dave

not sure why it showed up this way, but when we run the tool we leave "wait for job completion" checked, I believe that is the default. again, not sure why in this screenshot it is not checked.
