Frederic Jehan, with Egis, gives an overview of the presentation he recorded for the virtual 2020 Esri User Conference. His presentation will be available to view on-demand, search the conference online agenda with the presentation name. Abstract submitted: Angers is a city in France with a population of around 300,000 Inhabitants as per the latest census for an area covering 670 sq. km. (260 sq.m.). Angers Loire Metropole (ALM), the metropolitan authority, has recently launched a Project Management (PM) project to manage more than 700 rehabilitation sub-projects in two neighborhoods within the metropolitan limits. The objective of this 400 Million Euros rehabilitation project is to provide new social mix, rehabilitate public services, and develop public spaces to improve residents’ quality of life. Deadlines and financing for this project are extremely tight. WebGIS Implementation: Egis has been selected to support ALM in this task and decided to set up an innovative Project Management Monitoring System based on ArcGIS Enterprise to help in visualizing project status and other key information on a WebGIS Platform. The WebGIS allows: - Providing a centralized service, - Following up the planning on a map, - Highlighting critical status of individual sub-projects on a map, - Following up the budget on the GIS, - Reducing the risks of bottlenecks not handled through traditional Project Management methods, - Generating automatic monthly reports, - Provide a data entry platform for the client and the PM, - Collaboration between the PM’s ArcGIS Enterprise Portal and the Client’s Internal Portal to reduce duplication and reduce the carbon footprint. The system that has been put in place is interesting as it provides a link between the planning that is managed through MS Project and the GIS Database. Key benefits: Thanks to this first one of a kind WebGIS approach in France, the client has identified clear benefits in implementing a collaborative WebGIS between multiple actors of such a large scale project allowing all to be brought under one common platform. This experience has allowed the various stakeholders to realize the advantages and needs of having data with a high quality and shared between all parties in a transparent way. Keywords: 5D WebGIS, Project Management, Urban Rehabilitation, Collaboration, Planning.

Joel Carter, with Cardno, gives an overview of the presentation he recorded for the virtual 2020 Esri User Conference. His presentation will be available to view on-demand, search the conference online agenda with the presentation name. Abstract submitted: We will review data collection approaches used in a multiyear project to create and maintain a statewide asset inventory of outdoor signs. ArcPad was used initially to streamline the user interface and implement business rules to promote higher quality inputs. The process was later migrated to a faster Collector and ArcGIS Enterprise based solution. However, a desire to regain the ArcPad’s forms-based workflow led to exploring the customization of other data collection tools like Suvery123.

Teresa Smithson, with Jacobs, gives an overview of the presentation she recorded for the virtual 2020 Esri User Conference. Her presentation will be available to view on-demand, search the conference online agenda with the presentation name. Abstract submitted: The Regional Transportation District (RTD) operates public transit services in eight of the twelve counties that make up the Denver-Aurora-Boulder Combined Statistical Area in Colorado. The FasTracks Program, voter-approved in 2004, is in the process of adding 122 miles of new commuter rail and light rail, 57 new transit stations, and 31 new Park-n-Rides. About three years ago, Jacobs began the process of compiling over 10 years of project knowledge into a GIS to act as a central depository for organizational knowledge, focused on the engineering department needs. This GIS is transforming the very culture of information sharing within RTD and is embraced by all departments. Current development includes: • Linear Referencing System (LRS) for the tracks. The LRS will provide support for design, asset management, operations and maintenance, reporting requirements for ‘State of Good Repair’ and security. • Geo-referencing project documents, enabling ready access to project plans, real property deeds, Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) and other project documents by selecting an area or asset through the GIS. • Customizing maps to include business analytics and layers specific to each user group. • Processes for the integration of data between the GIS and computer aided design and documentation (CADD) environment. Join us in visiting RTD’s journey from a traditional transit district to an organization leading the way by leveraging technology to become more efficient and transparent; and getting there by utilizing data that was purposed from other uses during the development stage.

When surveying telecommunication sites, a number of conditions (such as trees and buildings blocking GPS signals) can complicate the quick and accurate capture of utility locates and other topographical features. In this webinar, DDSI shares how a new laser mapping solution from Esri and Esri Silver Partner Eos Positioning Systems allows field crews to collect all topographic features under any field conditions with decimeter accuracy on their tablets.
