I just did a test. I normally use Chrome (recent version), but fired up IE 11 to try, same behavior.

I'm having a persistent problem in AGOL. I make a mundane layer, like a drive-time layer or something, and when I go to use "enrich layer", I can click on it, but it doesn't work. It doesn't bring up the parameters, its as if I didn't click on it. If I exit the map, make a new map, stick in the layer I want to enrich in this new map, I can enrich no problem. Then I exit the new dummy map, re-open my old map, and add the enriched layer, and I can use it fine. This has been going on for about 2 months, and persists across new maps, old maps, new layers, old layers, whatever. Is this a bug? Anybody else have this?

Wow! Thanks! Now that I know the correct terminology, I was able to find a lot about this technique. Sadly, nothing in AGOL. So, I will try to give it a whirl in Pro or other platform. Nice to know there's a completely well-known technique for what I was thinking of. I had a feeling there would be. THANKS!!!

I have a need to create a sort of "drive time force field" feature. The idea is that I have several points, and I start driving from all of the simultaneously, and I want to get the resulting area feature from all of the start points where they run into one another. Then I could look at population and other things inside those areas. Kind of like this: There's 3 locations, and they all run into each other in the line scratched in red on the blue "iso-drive-time" lines. I want to get the "zone 3" polygon for each dot. The idea would be I don't want anything over 15min, I just want to get the zone of contention, so to speak. Maybe like in physics, I'm thinking of calculating where gravity/electric/magnetic field would null out from the distance of the points? It would like running the drivetime function on 3 points at a time, but somehow using a smart version of the "split" option for the "areas of different points" input, only it would be smart, stop moving at the intersections with the other points' drivetimes. Any ideas on how to do this in AGOL? Any ideas in general on doing it in Pro or any other platform? Thank You.

Outstanding! Fantastic answer, thanks for hanging in there with me. It was what I was hoping the answer was. One note: the ZIP layers in Living Atlas/AGOL are what I call the "ZIP/ZCTA census outlines". I can tell from the shape of some of our key ZIPs, 85085 and 85086. and Here's what a call the TomTom/HERE ZIPs in BAO, totally different. I understand they might be closer to actual USPS behavior for delivery, and this is a value-add for many customers, but for us this difference means that we can't really use BAO maps for any ZIP-based work. Thanks very much, have a great weekend.

Routine display and enrichment of these various types of boundaries. I just want to make sure I know how to get the latest, canonical version of these boundaries. E.g. how do I know if I need to check for a year or not? Also, the ZCTA Census "ZIP" boundaries are WAY different than the TomTom/HERE/whatever boundaries. We standarized on the Census ZCTA/ZIP ones. (Oddly, only can use TomTom/HERE ones in Business Analyst Online.) I don't want the layer boundaries to be subject to change afterwards, and also want to make sure we do have the latest. There are at least 2 versions from ESRI or esri_dm that appear to be the same, some have years, some don't. It's weird. All are in the "Living Atlas". I'd like it if they just tacked the year on everything, for starters. But, glad to see them curating this content for us, way nicer. Anybody know where I can get the definitive answer?

Yes, I'm aware of that. But in the past, there were NO tract and block layers on AGOL or Living Atlas. There are 3 different versions of ZIP layers that are all by ESRI or esri_dm. One says it is only for d/l for Pro and ArcMap users, the other 2 appear to be the same, but one has a 2018 data attached, the other no date. I'm looking for somebody that can tell me what is the best layer to use, as in it will not be rolled back or changed without warning. Thanks for the reply! Hopefully somebody will know my answer.

What are the best ZIP, Census Tract, and Block Group layers to use in AGOL? I used to use for ZIPs the "USA ZIP Codes (2015)" layer. Now I see that Living Atlas has what looks like Esri maintained layers for ZIP, Tract, and Block Group with no years on them. The blurbs say they are special versions that work good on AGOL. Is this true? Should I use these? In the past, I did tract uploades form Census .shp files, a pain. And didn't bother with blocks because it seemed like too much time to draw. Will somebody at Esri say that "yes, we made these new layers, use them, we will maintain them, and not screw them up ever." for the following layers: https://honorhealth.maps.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=2a0f46361c05465eb89d4aa417d6ad08 https://honorhealth.maps.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=fe6374385966414687ec0396146fdba6 https://esri.maps.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=0a2fde8aa7404187917488bafcbc77e6 I'd love to know the exact use case of these layers and their release history, if there is such a thing?

Is there any obesity data below county in BAO or Living Atlas? E.g. it would be ideal to even get ZIP-level data? I'm in Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona. #obesity

How exactly does PowerBI work with AGOL maps? We have authors that are full #AGOL users, if we make a map, put it in PowerBI dashboard, can anybody see it? We are a typical larger company, we have high-skill ESRI users with about 5 years of assets on #AGOL. If we stick a map into a PowerBI report or dashboard, can anybody in the company view it without any other login? I can't tell if the "Plus" account is based on authoring, or viewing? I need to know this answer before doing any more testing or recommendation. Thank You.

I was using the ESRI for Office plugins in Excel the other day, and needed to use one of my AGOL layers for our locations. No problem loading it, but I couldn't figure out how to set up filters? All of our basic locations layers require filters to display as we keep status information like "closed", "WIP", "open", etc in there. Can it be that there is no way to set filters in ESRI for Office? Furthermore, when I loaded my locations layer, ESRI for Office didn't obey the default filter set up in AGOL, either? I searched for ways to do filtering, but came up with nothing. After all the interesting and useful adds to the product recently, I can't believe there's no interface for filters? Anybody else run into this or know? Thanks! #filter

I was working on deadline this week with 2 colleagues on a project that utilized the same map one of us had made. I started to get strange results, and it makes me ask, "what exactly is going on in the multi-user situation with shared maps?" 1. Colleague made map set up a bunch of layers we would need and we all started work. 2. I open the map while she is in it. How does it arbitrate what happens if we try and change styles on the same layer? 3. Whose edits get saved? 4. A lot of work was taking this one big master layer, and restyling it for about a dozen different views. I dupe the "original" layer, and then rename the copy. I do my setups. I save her shared map. I come back the next day, and not only is my dupe layer not in there, neither are my edits. Huh? 5. I did the same as above, but compelled a local layer save by doing a "save layer" on my dupe layer that was set up with my needed settings. That did save locally in my content, but did not appear in the content list when I open the map. She reports that she does see my layers fine. I have to go re-add them, and start work again from that point. Is the multi-user broken? Buggy? Was something weird going on? It really shakes our confidence when we do a bunch of work and it disappears like this. Anybody know what is going on?

At a certain point, maybe it would be best for ESRI and customers alike if they just made a "brain-dead" version of ArcMap or Pro that was just for printing? E.g. there's a "print to Pro" button on AGOL, it launches something, and you only get to set extents and play with the print settings, and output PDF? You get it activated if your org on AGOL has a # of users and positive credit balance or something? And maybe it costs credits...you set up a print to PDF, and once you get it working, you OK the charge? Consider BAO: the "canned" reports and PDF output are worth it, and they cost a pretty hefty fee in credits. In the past, ESRI has hinted that the vector basemaps and the new, more robust HTML driving AGOL will allow for better resolution-independent services...like perhaps printing???
