Did you have ArcPad 7.1.1 previously installed on this system? Normally this is an issue I've seen with versions pre-8. My guess is that the ArcPadPrefs.apx file is still left over from a previous version and it's looking for that dll. To (hopefully) get around this issue, delete your ArcPadPrefs.apx file from: C:\...My Documents\My Arcpad\ArcPadPrefs.apx. When you save new preferences the next time you're in ArcPad, a new ArcPadPrefs.apx file will be created. Does this resolve the issue? For you aerial photos, what format are they in? My guess is that you don't have proper extension turned on. ArcPad > Advanced Settings > Extensions Tab (far right) > Check on the extension for the proper raster type (TIFF, MrSID, JPEG, etc). Any luck with the above?

Not a problem, I'm glad you got it running. That's exactly what I meant in my above posts. I suggested renaming (instead of deleting) as you then have that original folder just in case you need it. As long as ArcPad doesn't find a folder (or file) that it's looking for, it will create a new one. Renaming the folder (to something such as "My ArcPad Old") would achieve the same result.

Those file paths are appropriate. In my last post I was requesting that you actually rename the entire My ArcPad folder. This will cause a brand new folder with new configuration files to be generated upon start up of ArcPad. Did you try this? You already tried renaming ArcPad.apx and it made no difference. My request to rename the entire folder would take care of any other config files (such as ArcPadPrefs.apx or ExtensionPrefs.apx) which may have become corrupted. Please verify that you have renamed the My ArcPad folder and restarted ArcPad. Thanks.

Timothy, Try renaming or deleting the following file: C:\Users\<user profile>\Documents\My ArcPad\ArcPad.apx If that doesn't work, please verify in a response that your user profile is stored in the default location and has not been changed to a different location.

Roman, ArcPad functions under the context of, "Last edit in wins". You can put an identical copy of an axf on as many devices as you want and check them all back in to the geodatabase. As long as they are only new features, you won't run into any problems at all. The only potential issue is if you check out existing data and either modify the attributes, spatial location, geometry, or delete the feature. In this situation, the last edit made to an existing feature that you check in (if, for example, two field crews edit the same existing feature) will appear in the geodatabase.

Andy, I can't say I've heard of an issue with that specific toughbook gps not recording a tracklog. I can definitely say that there aren't any patches out there to resolve an issue such as this. This may be a silly question, but have you tried clicking the "Clear" button (accessed by double-clicking the tracklog in the TOC) before starting the tracklog? This can be a cause of a tracklog failure to start. If the clear option doesn't do anything for you, I'd suggest logging a new incident with Support Services. They'll be able to look a little deeper into the issue. Thanks.

You need to set them as integers. Application.Map.Layers(yourPoleLayer).Forms("EDITFORM").Pages("PAGE1").Controls("txtPole_Separation_1").Value = (int(Pole_Ft_Power_1) + int(Pole_In_Power_1)) - (int(Pole_Ft_CATV_1) + int(Pole_In_CATV_1)) That should work.

Suzanne, You'll need to open the apl file in ArcPad Studio. After you've opened the apl file in ArcPad Studio, you'll see that there is a <FORMS> branch in the tree. Expand on <FORMS> and you'll find the <QUERYFORM>. This is what Gareth was referring to.

Dave, Unfortunately, the Page Object does not have any sort of "enabled" or "visible" property. Unless someone else chimes in, I don't know of a way to hide a page via code. The Control Object, however, does have a property to disable or hide the control. Perhaps you could hide or disable all of the controls on a page when the check box is checked? You could also throw in a message box letting them know they aren't required to fill out whatever page it is you want to hide. Also, the ArcPad object model uses vbscript or jscript, not ArcObjects. Before you can access the controls on a page that you aren't currently on, you'll need to activate that page. After hiding the controls you can then re-activate the page you want them to be on. Give this a try on the OnClick event of the checkbox: ThisEvent.Object.Parent.Parent.Pages("Page2").Activate Application.Map.Layers("Point").Forms("EDITFORM").Pages("PAGE2").Controls("Edit1").Visible = False Application.Map.Layers("Point").Forms("EDITFORM").Pages("PAGE1").Activate MessageBox("Page 2 not required") Additionally, you could use ...Controls("Edit1").Enabled = False The "enabled" property would simply gray out the control and won't allow you to edit it. My example removes the control completely from the page which would result in an empty page. Maybe this is a wild workaround, but it's the best I could do off the top of my head. I've attached an axf file with the code above, hopefully that will help. One last thing: setting the current state of a checkbox (checked, unchecked) when a form opens is a little buggy. Check out the following thread which might help with that. How to UNcheck a checkbox in a form? Perhaps this will get you started.

Matthew, Two main issues I see here: 1. You get validation errors when checking out existing data for disconnected editing. 2. When adding a new point, having utilized your custom form during checkout, you're receiving an error. The first issue is really simple to get around. There are two options. The first is that you clean up your existing table (within ArcMap) so that all current values within the fields containing domains match the coded values from the domain. In your Yes or No field, you must have values which don't exactly match. This could be features with Y, N, yes, no, etc., when they are probably supposed to be "Yes" and "No". The second option would be to uncheck the box in the Get Data for ArcPad Wizard - Select Output Options page which says 'Validate feature classes before checking out'. The second issue could potentially be more troublesome, especially without knowing what your custom forms are doing. You mention that you're using related tables. Does your script somehow create these relationships or are you using the out-of-the-box functionality? If you're using OOTB functionality, you need to have both the feature class and related table within the map document before you check out. Additionally, what cardinality is your relationship, one to many? My guess is that these errors are not an artifact of the geodatabase schema itself, but rather your customized axf file. Do you know what exactly these customizations are doing? Do they simply alter the look and feel of the edit form or are they assisting in additional functionality? If there are scripts involved, it would be helpful to see them which could potentially lead us in the right direction. Can you upload the axf file here?

James, You could either use the desktop tools or the ArcPad Server Extension to check out data from an Oracle database. It all depends on your level of knowledge which road you should take. My suggestion, for new ArcPad users, would be to stick with the desktop tools. Once you're more comfortable with the workflow, and if you feel that the server synchronization would benefit your organization, you could give the server extension a try. Feel free to respond with additional questions related to these workflows.
