i am just in the design process of a complex model that is based on a huge amount of data. and i do my testing by manually running the nodes i have added in the recent design steps ... unfortunately the model frequently recalcs stepts that have been run before sucessfully - some of these recalc procedures take more thean 4 hours ! ... i was used to Arc Map where running an new node that was just added to the model never caused a recalc of any node which it was depending on - that seems pretty reasonable to me since the preceding result is existing and saved in my geodatabase alreade and therefore there is no need to do any reclculation. at least as long as i do not change any parameters of any node the result is depending on ... does anybody notice the same behavior and are there any measures to stop the unnecessary recalculation of predecessors

one of my nodes (within a model consisting of several nodes) is a "Spatial Join" - it depends on two different outputs of preceding nodes. while extending the model step by step and running the added parts manually (by context menu run command) the node wich follows the "Spatial Join" returned an error message which was indicating that a required field was missing. i went through the whole sequence of nodes and identified the problem in the "Spatial Join" ... the fields list shows only a subset of the fields from my Join-Table -> a number of fields that actually exist in the Join-FC (i have re-checked that several times !) are dropped from the list and subsequently not part of the output FC ... and next node raises an error because the relevant field is missing. did anybody come across that problem and has an idea about how to deal with it ?

same here with arcgis pro 3.0 and arcgis pro 2.9. and the error is not related to the number of polygons - i have about 27k polygons out of which 94 return the above mentioined error. none of them does show any suspicious characteristics mentioned in the Polygon To Centerline (Topographic Production)—ArcGIS Pro | Documentation. i have had several "Repair Geometry" runs and been experimenting with the "simplify polygon" command to change the geometry without manual editing ... so far nothing helped.

think that's pretty easy to understand ... users would highly appreciate a customizable import tool, where you can identify the delimiter-character, the decimal-character, first row = fields j/n, x and y fields for directly converting csv-data into point-data, ... , and (!) character encoding. just have a look into qgis-interface and you will find a properly working template

but these two links do not provide any solutions to that reasonable question. as far as i can see. of course i can define an Extent-Variable from the "create variable list" - but how do i force the whole model environment to be based on that variable for any operation within the whole model ? relating environment settings to existing layers within the current project is a real stepback for anyone who wants to reuse models in different contexts with different layer-names and -content ! ! !

thx for reply and the detaile information about network location fields. i will give it a try !! concerning the second point "warning messages": i have used a point set with just one point for service ares and two for OD matrix and for shortest path calculation (i.e. point to point routing) in both of the applications. so if there would have been a warning there shouldn't have been any results - i think. ... i will check for the warnings accourding to your infos ! robert kalasek

thx for reply. yes it is exactly the same original network data set. and there are no errors or strange comments when building the networ in each of the applications. and i was doing my testst with a couple of points. some of them where added "on the fly" with the edit tools (so the should use the project's CRS), others where part of a shp-dataset. robert kalasek

background: I am seriously trying to switch over to "ArcGIS Pro" ... and I've been reading Solving routes to offset points in ArcGIS Network Analyst? My problem seems to be quite similar but it is related to ArcGIS Pro, where things generally seem to be a bit different. I have done some tests on different kinds of network analyses (route, OD, service area). Each of them worked fine in ArcMap based on my datasets. In ArcGIS Pro just OD- and service area-analysis returned valid results based on the identical set of input data. When it came to ArcGIS Pro's "route solver" tool (i.e. simple from point - to point routing) I've got an error message 030212, which indicates that the start and/or end points couldn't be related to the network. The points are located in a distance from about 150m to valid network-elements! Running "calculate locations" and increasing the "search tolerance" parameter in ArcGIS Pro didn't help at all (yes; I did run the add locations-commad with "use network location fields" parameter selected !), the snap parameter mentioned in the before mentioned article from 2013 seems to act quite different than it used to in 2013. I did tests search tolerance values up to 7500 ... but obviously the same set of input-data works fine in ArcMap's point to point routing - with the "route-layer properties / network locations / search tolerance" set to just 1000m - but doesn't work in ArcGIS Pro at all. Additional information: The network is based on GTFS- and OSM-data and does transit network routing. Question: Did anybody find a way to do point to point routing (called "route") in ArcGIS Pro with "search tolerance" set to values > 0 where start- and endpoints are located close to but not exactly at network elements ? Additional question in that context: does anybody know how to restrict network entry points to specific types of network elements in ArcGIS Pro? In ArcMap it is parameterized via "route / layer properties / network locations / finding network locations / snap to" - settings ?

"a bit peculiar" is a kind statement - in particuar if regarding that coropleth maps are a no go for representing the magnitude of a phenomenon. so proportinal symbols are a must - and from ther it's just a step to pie charts !

yes indeed !!! and there are alternatives ... which have significantely improved concerning both performance and cartography with every single release - and they release every 6 month. i've tried to switch to pro several times - meanwhile i use arcmap for analysis (model builder!) and take qgis for any cartographic output !!

well, i guess that's not an very revolutionary idea to implement a non-automatic-at-all-mode and set that mode to default.... actually i would assume that keeping things that simple would help to avoid a bunch of trouble and thus to release energy that could be investet more efficiently ... e.g. in an improved Copy-Paste behaviour for model nodes ... but yes - that option would help avoiding a lot of detoured connectors and thus keeping the model-graph easy to "read".

... i would be pleased to just have a "non-auto-route" mode working. like it used to be in arcgis desktop ... if somebody needs a fancy route design, he/she is free to spend hours of adding/moving nodes on it. but having to spend hours for removing auto-route-results doesn't make any sense to me
