I went into the Admin page for GeoEvent and I noticed my flow doesn't list the connectors in the order they are run. The flow goes from GEOFENCE_POLL_LAYER --> WIFI Geofence --> WIFI_GEOTAGGER --> WIFI Geofence Email. The flow that the service shows is provided below. Could this be causing an issue? Again, the email worked for about a month and then stopped abruptly a couple days ago. Flow: From: WIFI_GEOTAGGER To: WIFI Geofence Email From: GEOFENCE_POLL_LAYER To: WIFI GEOFENCE From: WIFI GEOFENCE To: WIFI_GEOTAGGER

We have a GeoEvent Service that sends an email based on a series of geofences. The service gets its input from polling a feature service and sends emails when a point enters a geofence. The email output worked for about a month and then stopped sending emails the other day. I went into the logs and didn't see any relevant errors. The service's input and output counts increase but the email's output count isn't increasing. Wondering if anybody has encountered similar issues or knows of potential remedies? We are sending a fair amount of emails, so I wouldn't be surprised if the output is getting flagged as spam. The issue does resolve itself if I create a new email output and replace the existing one but I don't really want to keep regenerating output connectors every few weeks.

We resolved the issue by uninstalling the ODBC driver and then reinstalling it. We originally tried to install the driver thinking it wasn't installed on the machine but received a message stating a newer version of ODBC Driver 17 was already installed. We installed a version we received from ESRI. Thanks for the helpful responses.

RJ, Thanks for the reply. We have GeoEvent Server installed on a box that is only available on our internal network. I recall reading where ESRI recommends that architecture for GeoEvent. That said, we would still like to require authentication internally but I am not sure how that would impact the data flow. I imagine an extra level of processing might slow things down a bit. I guess we could always hit the service's "add feature" endpoint directly from ArcGIS Server, if authentication is an absolute requirement. Do you expect ESRI to add authentication options into future releases? We are planning to migrate to 10.7 in the coming months.

I believe she has both. I went into ODBC Data Source Administrator for 32 and 64 bit. The driver shows up in both directories.

We have a user in our organization that is unable to access our SQL Server databases. All other users are able to access the databases. They are authenticating in using operating system authentication. I had the person try connecting from my machine and she was able to get in, so we have ruled out the issue being due to permissions. We also confirmed that she has the proper SQL Server Client and ODBC driver installed. Our databases are running under SQL Server 14 and the driver she is using is Microsoft ODBC Driver 17 for SQL Server. She also has the SQL Server 2012 Native Client installed. I have read through the documentation and we appear to have everything installed that needs to be. She did have the driver installed on her machine prior to running the ArcMap installation. She has other applications that use the driver. The only other thing I can think of is a setting not being correct in the Registry. Is there anything else that might be causing the error? We have been instructed to rerun the Desktop installation if we cannot resolve the issue but I am afraid that might not fix the error. The error returned by ArcMap states "Failure to access the DBMS server".

Gregory, Apologies for my delayed response. I did some additional testing and I believe the filters are causing the lag I have been seeing. I load tested over 500,000 features into the primary table and GeoEvent was able to handle the data efficiently. I turned the other connectors on and was able to count the inserts as they processed. I am following your guidance and designing the JSON schema so that we receive the data on separate input services. Thank you very much.

I have been struggling with trying to get basic authentication setup for one of my geoevent server inputs. The input is Receive JSON on a REST Endpoint. I noticed that I can create a copy of the connector and update the settings with Basic Auth enabled but my input still accepts requests when no credentials are provided. I'm including a picture that illustrates how the connector is configured. I am currently running 10.6.1 with plans to migrate to 10.7 later in the year. Thanks in advance for any helpful responses.

I have a GeoEvent Server Service that Receives JSON on a REST endpoint. The endpoint is accepting connections over HTTP but we would like to configure basic authentication for the service and thus would need to run over HTTPS. I have HTTPS enabled on our servers. I access the GeoEvent Server Manager site over https but my requests to the input connector fail when going over HTTPS. The urls below show where the data is being delivered to. Again, only the HTTP url is currently working. Is there a way to change how GeoEvent Server configures the endpoints or is this functionality not supported. I am currently running 10.61 with plans to migrate to 10.7 later in the year. Thanks in advance for any helpful responses. http://server.domain:6180/geoevent/rest/receiver/RECEIVE_JSON https://server.domain:6143/geoevent/rest/receiver/RECEIVE_JSON

Gregory, Thank you for your response. I am trying to insert multiple records in a single transaction. I have tried altering the update interval and max transactions but I think the lag might be due to a number of filters that each event has to be checked against. The service we are working with can deliver data to four separate tables based on the characteristic of each event. These would be related tables that only receive data if a certain object is present in each JSON element. I turned off the related table processors and the events piped in at a pretty good rate. I'm attaching an image that shows what our service looks like. The processor at the bottom is receiving the largest volume of data. Again, the output is handled at a solid rate when I turn off the three processors at the top. I could always place the input in a separate service that handles the related tables. Do you know if filters can cause a service to slow down?

I have begun working with GeoEvent Server and for an early project I am using the Add Feature output connector to insert features from a standard JSON array. The JSON is being piped in from the Receive JSON input connector. I have noticed that GeoEvent Server will create an event for each element of the JSON array. The JSON is structured so that each element represents a new feature. I would like to know if there is a way to treat all of the array elements as a single event which in turn would lead to a single transaction. GeoEvent Server seems to create the events very quickly but I can count the seconds that pass in between each new insert. I can always call the Add Feature REST endpoint directly or run a stored procedure, but I would prefer to use GeoEvent Server if it will support the volume coming in. Again, I have just begun working with the software and I imagine there might be a way to run a bulk insert. The add feature output connector does have an option for setting a feature count transaction threshold, so there must be a way. I may look at developing a custom transformation connector (this would be incredibly helpful wink wink) but I would prefer sticking with the out of the box tools for the time being. I am not really sure how to resolve this issue. There might be a solution that relates to the structure of the GeoEvent Definition or the structure of the JSON array. Again, I would like to insert multiple rows in a single transaction using the add feature output connector. Thanks in advance to any helpful responses.

We also encountered this issue with one of our public services. We configured the service back in March 2018. The service consists of multiple layers. It was showing up in Power BI as a reference layer for a number of months. We went to add in the layer the other day and it is no longer showing up. The strange thing is the layer(s) still show in our older Power BI projects. I guess we will have to use those as a template for the time being. @ScottBall - do you know if ESRI plans to support adding in multiple layers from either a single service or from multiple services.
