ArcPy and ArcGIS API for Python are in two different namespaces. The fully qualified name is not the same. Import statements can be used to resolve the differences - that's what they are for.

ArcPy and ArcGIS API for Python are two different packages that deal with related things. It would be unreasonable to expect to use classes from one package in place of those from another. Regarding interoperability, you could use FeatureSet.df and write it to a feature class, and load it unisg arcpy and get an arcpy FeatureSet.

You can load feature data (from Web GIS or local file system) in SpatialDataFrame and use it for feature and geometry manipulation. It can then be saved to feature classes (shapefiles or fgdb...) for use with ArcPy. If you wish to do fine grained geometry manipulation you can do it using methods on the SpatialDataFrame as well. Additionally, you can use as_arcpy to get ArcPy Geometries from a SpatialDataFrame. Geometry manipulation using the Geometry utility service (arcgis.geometry) is another option. The other option is to get the json representation and use it to construct arcpy geometries and do those operations locally. If these options do not cover the range of data exchange operations you want, please post what additional types of data exchange you need.

You can pass in a dict with this format: {'time': '1510704000000,1514764800000'}
Here is an example you can use to construct this dict: from datetime import datetime import time timerange = [datetime(2017, 11, 15), datetime(2018, 1, 1)] starttime = int(time.mktime((timerange[0]).timetuple()) * 1000) endtime = int(time.mktime((timerange[1]).timetuple()) * 1000) time_filter = {'time' : "%s,%s" % (starttime, endtime)}

Hi Simo, Would you mind sharing why you need access to the token though? Is there something in the API or your workflow that needs access to this token? Thanks, Rohit

Stephan, Your code is correct. There is a bug in the current version of the API that is causing the json to be sent using single quotes instead of double quotes, and some tools (like this one apparently) are sensitive to that. We have fixed this bug and the fix will be included in v1.3 which is likely to release in the next couple weeks. Thanks, Rohit

We're looking into this issue. Meanwhile, as a workaround till we have a fix, you may use the following code to bypass certificate verification completely in the Python process: import ssl ssl._create_default_https_context = ssl._create_unverified_context from arcgis import GIS gis = GIS('https://yoururl.com/portal', verify_cert=False) Please note that this is not for use in production environment, as it bypasses certificate verification in the entire Python process, not just to your portal which is using a self signed certificate.

gis.map() does not accept webmap names. You need to pass in a web map item, or the name of a location that it geocodes and uses for it's initial extent.

Hi Eric, Anthony, For secure proxies, can you try the following: # username : password @ server gis = GIS(proxy_host="username:password@www.myproxy.com", proxy_port=542) If it doesn't work, please let me know what kind of proxy server you are using. Thanks, Rohit

The command conda upgrade -c esri arcgis grabs from the esri conda channel and it will always grab the latest released version. It will not get a preliminary version. In this command "-c esri" specifies that it should use the esri conda channel. If you wish you upgrade to a specific version you can specify it as: conda upgrade -c esri arcgis=1.2.0

Hello Simo, I have come across a case when the portal was actually configured to use SAML. To rule that out, can you try the following: Log into your web GIS (ArcGIS Online organization or ArcGIS Enterprise) in the browser Go to Content tab Click '+ Add Item > An Application' menu Add an application: Type: Application Title: Python Tags: python On the Item details page of this newly created application, navigate to Settings tab Click the Registered Info button. It's towards the bottom of the page. This will show an App ID. This is your client id and needs to be passed in as the client_id parameter when constructing a GIS object. You need this in your Python code to log in Example code: test_client_id = 'OGz1I2eoO8dO0ii2' #replace with your client id gis = GIS('https://your portal url', client_id=test_client_id) gis.users.me
