Can someone please point me to the documentation for situations where a global id cannot be added to an individual table or feature class? Looks like you cannot add it to a feature/table that is in a geometric network https://community.esri.com/thread/141770 I am trying to add it to a feature in a dataset that is: not versioned not in a network does have a number of relationships is in sde I am getting the 000528 error with python. If I try with ArcCatalog the option is not available. However, it is available at the dataset level.

I am wanting to do this as well. Your posted solution does not feel very robust to me because it is based only on the name of the field. I was able to add a GlobalID text field to a fgdb feature class. This would be a false positive in your code. I looked over the field properties for a better solution, but I don't see one. It would be nice to have a function that returns a boolean--something like: hasGlobalID(table/feature class) = True/False. We want to add global ids to all ersi objects in our database but some have existing global ids.

Model builder is not exporting the script right? What about taking the python script and running it in an IDE, like pycharm or pyscripter? Then you could set breakpoints and see where things are going bad.

This talks about doing it with vba so I guess now it would be c#. Maybe this is not exposed to python yet? https://community.esri.com/thread/33483

I have a number of objects (feature classes, tables, etc.) that we have copied from an ArcFM sde oracle to a new dev non-ArcFM sde oracle. Most of the original data is ArcFM objects. The copy process is dumping the ArcFM class extensions for many objects but not all. Is it possible to access and modify the values with python to make them "classic esri" objects? Below is an example of the guids in the xml. This xml was pulled from: select i.definition from sde.gdb_items_vw i XML <CLSID>{53D0BFE9-446E-11D3-88FC-00104B9F25F6}</CLSID>
<EXTCLSID>{BF77404C-E8B3-4EE8-9456-BCA121416675}</EXTCLSID> The in feature class properties as viewed from ArcCatalog it looks like this: But we want it to look more like this:

Just the standard right-click on the FC in the TOC and export. I have also tried the export function from the attribute table.
