Tom, the gp tool Copy Runtime Geodatabase To File Geodatabase will allow you to create a file geodatabase from the runtime geodatabase file. Good luck, Tobias

Freddie and Melissa, thank you very much for pointing me in the right direction. Esri support attached me to NIM092675. I will test, but I don't fully understand the question. By original, do you mean the workspace as the .mxd accessed it prior to me running arcpy.mapping.replaceDataSource ? Or does it not matter whether I change layer data sources via Python, ArcCatalog, or ArcMap? The strange thing is that some of the .mxd's that I have processed with arcpy.mapping.replaceDataSource show that issue, and some don't - I haven't figured out differentiating factor(s) that matter.

Hi Melissa, At one time I used arcpy.mapping replaceDataSource (workspace_path, workspace_type, {dataset_name}, {validate}) .

Hi Randy, No, there is not layer or table in the Table of Contents. With ArcCatalog --> Set Data Sources I get the same information: no layers or tables in the mxd. Thanks, Tobias

Not sure about the reason. One thing you could try to fix it is delete (or rename) the file Normal.mxt and ArcMap will create a new one on startup. You find that file usually in C:\Users\<your_username>\AppData\Roaming\ESRI\Desktop<your_ArcGiS_version>\ArcMap\Templates .

I have an .mxd with one dataframe that used to contained layers with data source being Oracle 11g, 10.3 Geodatabase. Database credentials were not stored in those layers/.sde connections. As expected the user was prompted to enter credentials upon opening the mxd. Now I remove all the layers, and the user is still prompted for credentials upon opening the .mxd file. This is unexpected behavior and I need to understand why this is happening (have many such .mxd files and it's a huge problem when the .mxd's actually do store passwords.) I stripped everything I can find from the .mxd (toolbars, layout elements, etc.). Also have run .mxd Doctor and Defrangementer. The only way to avoid the prompt for credentials is to remove the dataframe. The .mxd was created in ArcMap 10.1, using ArcMap 10.3 instead seems to make no difference. Any clues are greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tobias

You could try if reducing the font "Leading" gets you what you're looking for.

Jake, I observed the same issue, that "if I edited additional attributes, the trigger would not fire." After inspecting the HTTP traffic I noticed that the editing tool actually does cause the trigger to fire (at the insert of a new row), but then overwrites it with NULL when appyEdits is called again (and when editing attributes it is always called again.) My solution was to enable geodatabase editor tracking on the feature class in order for my SQL trigger to be able to distinguish between edits to existing points and inserts of new points, like shown below (But it's Oracle syntax, not SQL Server.) -Tobias CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER EGISADMIN.PED_COUNTERS_ID_BEF_INS BEFORE INSERT OR UPDATE ON EGISADMIN.PED_COUNTERS FOR EACH ROW BEGIN IF :NEW.CREATED_DATE = :NEW.LAST_EDITED_DATE THEN SELECT PED_COUNTERS_S.NEXTVAL INTO :NEW.REQUESTID FROM DUAL; END IF; IF :NEW.CREATED_DATE <> :NEW.LAST_EDITED_DATE THEN --this is an edit to an existing point. here we need to block the incoming null value for requestid SELECT :OLD.REQUESTID INTO :NEW.REQUESTID FROM DUAL; END IF; END /

Here is what I found works: Before you run the "Manage Cache" processes (like re-create or delete tiles etc.) run Convert Cache Format. My theory is that in many cases the message is total bogus and the problem is not caused by indexes/extents/data/schema etc., and the process converting the cache format clears out any "locking" that actually triggers the failure. I'm using 10.3 but have seen this with versions 10.1 and 10.2 as well.

Jake and Einat, I see the same behavior with ArcGIS Server 10.3. Whether the Map Service mxd data frame is set to WGS Web Mercator or to the Feature Class's Coordinate System, either way the error exists. Can reproduce with points, lines, polys. ArcGIs Server 10.3. The only workaround so far seems to be to add only one layer from the Map Service instead of the "parent" Map Service url. Did you ever figure this out? Is this a bug in the Javascript API? Thanks, Tobias
