The process to update the underlying connection string involves importing the new SDE connection file under the Site -> Data Stores tab for the existing registered data store entry. As long as the record has not been deleted, importing a new SDE file and restarting the associated service(s) should point them to the new data connection. This is what the process of externalizing the connection strings achieved in the first place, there is a data store ID that is generated when a connection is registered with ArcGIS Server and that allows for dynamic updates of the service connection strings over time (as long as the DSID isn't altered).

The externalizeconnectionstrings.bat tool is meant to change the connection string syntax in services published to ArcGIS Server 10.3.1 or prior following an upgrade to a newer version. While I don't want to speculate too far in terms of why the update operation is failing, it shouldn't be necessary to run that tool if your services were already published to a later version of ArcGIS Server. I would recommend opening a case with Technical Support for this. From the looks of it you have the same ArcGIS Server site federated with the Portal twice and since you are unable to remove the duplicate from within the Sharing/REST application it will need to be investigated directly to come up with a solution.

Have you tried connecting to the LDAPS port for global catalogs (3269) using another method such as ldp.exe? Ldp | Microsoft Docs https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/windows/it-pro/windows-server-2012-r2-and-2012/cc771022(v=ws.11) That may give you some more information about why the connection is failing. With a connection reset error, it is possible the connection is being blocked by or timing-out on a firewall (either internal or external to the domain controller in question). The Active Directory connection does use LDAP to query the AD structure for users/groups, and connections will be made on 3269, 3268, 636, and 389, depending on whether LDAPS is configured with a proper certificate and the binding options set within group policy.

Hi @PI-GIS, If you've already created a new ArcGIS Server site (breaking your hosted content anyway), then you would want to unregister the site from Portal's Sharing/REST endpoint before refederating the site with Portal, as @HenryLindemann alluded to. If the site is still federated or you'd like to retain your hosted content, you may be best off opening a support case so an analyst case review options that remain within your deployment with you. In regards to your ArcGIS Notebook Server installation, I wanted to attach a technical article that may help in the future and explain where things went awry. How To: Install ArcGIS Notebook Server on the same machine with a Base ArcGIS Enterprise deployment on Windows https://support.esri.com/en/technical-article/000022812 Hope that helps!

Hi @James_Armstrong, Is it possible you've configured 'allowedProxyHosts' in your Portal's Security Configuration? That's when I've usually seen the 400 response in the past from the Sharing/Proxy endpoint, since you may not have added the internal domain (xxxxxx.local) to the list of allowed hosts. Hi @BanchanaPandey, The error you are receiving is due to the fact that the enterprise application you've configured in AzureAD does not think that the external user is allowed to access that application. I believe you would have to manually assign them to the application since only security groups are supported for group-based assignment. Your Azure support team should be able to help you further or at least spell-out the options a bit more clearly. Quickstart: Assign users to an app that uses Azure Active Directory as an identity provider | Microsoft Docs https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/manage-apps/add-application-portal-assign-users

Hi @MHasan, The connection to the site files (config-store and directories) is controlled by the config-store-connection.xml file in the <Server_Install>\framework\etc directory. I assume this file is missing since you were returned to the 'Create New Site' page in Server Manager, the file will automatically be removed if the software loses access to the site files. You can copy the file from a working ArcGIS Server site and update the path with the correct location, then restart the service, but if there are underlying issues with the machine information those would need to be identified first. Can you identify if the <machine_name>.json file in <config-store>\machines\ reflects the same name in the log entries?

Hi @Mohammed_KamalAl_Saleh, Did you set the general logo picture or the one for the shared theme? I would try both, but it may be more advantageous to open a Support case so an analyst can look at the behavior in more detail with you.

Does the machine in question have multiple DNS aliases or hosts file modifications? If the startup of ArcGIS Server detected a name change and there wasn't a hostname.properties file defined I would expect similar entries in the logs. Just to confirm, is the site information (config-store and directories) on a local volume or a network share?

It seems at first-glance that the secondary machine is unable to contact the primary on port 7120 to get the status of the index service/cluster. Have you verified that all the highly available ports are open between the two machines? The WebGISDR backup/restore process is not made to bridge different versions, so you would either want to restore on a 10.8 platform, then upgrade that collection of machines or you could upgrade the existing environment, then restore to a fresh 10.8.1 deployment that follows the rules of the replicated deployment scenario. Hi @Mohammed_KamalAl_Saleh, At first glance there were two issues where customers removed their logo or didn't define one for the Portal and seemed to report similar behavior, would you try configuring a picture file for your Logo and see if that resolves the behavior? I read that a bit differently than you did. The single context (one level deep) URL is implied during the installation of the ArcGIS Web Adaptor, but when using a load balancer that requirement needed to be explained since the web adaptor isn't integral to the context of the URL(s).
