What processes are you trying to do with Modelbuilder? I ask as there have been several bugs in the past and many are linked to specific processes. One general fix that sometimes works is to turn off "Background Processing". In ArcGIS, at the top, Geoprocessing, Geoprocessing Options..., then uncheck the Background Processing box. I believe you can accomplish this with Data Driven Pages and Dynamic Text. First, one would set up the Data Driven pages, then once that is set one would use Dynamic Text to label the Specie and Season by drawing on an attribute field. More of a longshot, but I'll throw it out there in case the issue is unresolved. Something I noticed which may be tripping things up is the use of a restricted character in your file path. Note the hyphen symbol in the last folder before the csv. While not always a game-stopper, there are several processes in ArcGIS which trip up when fed a file located in a folder with a restricted character. So if things are still not working, try renaming that folder to see if it clears things up. For example, an underscore is acceptable in ArcGIS, so can be used instead of the hyphen. Current: O:\plan\luam\1p2007\2018\LOC2018-0027\addresses.csv Better: O:\plan\luam\1p2007\2018\LOC2018_0027\addresses.csv Chris Donohue, GISP

ArcGIS Help (10.2, 10.2.1, and 10.2.2) - Repairing Broken Links English: Sorry if this comes out strange - I don't know French, so am using Google Translate. In ArcMap, CSV files can be relinked like feature classes and other types of files. See the link below for more information. If the information in the link does not solve your issue, can you provide more details on what specific software you are using, what the symptoms are, and what things you have tried to resolve the issue? Here's an older blog post that may be of help. I suspect there are some minor changes in the last several years that may need some adjusting, but at least it will provide some ideas. On the manual side, it is possible to repair all the links in one shot. "When the repair to the data link is made from the table of contents, ArcMap repairs the selected layer using the data source you browse to and automatically repairs other broken layers if it can find their data sources in the same location of the data source you specified." See the Section "Repairing broken links for multiple layers" in this link: ArcGIS Help (10.2, 10.2.1, and 10.2.2) On the automating side, I know many folks have the same issue you have in that they need to update many mxds, so have written Python code to automatically do the re-linking. There is some information on that approach in the link above, in the section "Using the arcpy.mapping module to find and repair data links for a number of map documents". Hopefully some folks here on GeoNet can post some example code also. Chris Donohue, GISP

There used to be a download at the California Spatial Information Library (CASIL) for the Public Land Survey System (PLSS) "aka Township, Section, and Range data", but that site has now been rolled into the State of California Geoportal, which is a bit harder to navigate to find data. I did a quick look and found some data for specific counties, but didn't run across the statewide layer, though it is probably there. Also, one thing to look out for, the data is often in California Teal Albers projection, so don't be surprised by that if you are not familiar with California State datasets. Geoportal Another option is the Bureau of Land Management. I've used their PLSS data in California before. http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=0648d4cc4f234180bd39eaa352f99331 Chris Donohue, GISP

As Abdullah Anter mentioned, using Maplex instead of the Standard Label Engine is a good starting point. By playing with the Maplex label settings, one can often resolve issues with overlapping labels. However, it is not perfect, so if there is a need for a high quality map with well-placed labels, you may need to dump out the labels as annotation (either in the map or in a geodatabase), and then manually work on them. If you go the annotation route, Maplex is still a good start - using it will reduce the amount of manually annotation work. I've not done many Least Cost Path runs, so am not sure. However, there are some possibilities out there: As you mentioned, one possibility is to use Modelbuilder to batch process all the individual runs. One would employ an Iterator in Modelbuilder to loop through all the populations by Least Cost Paths. You'd have to play with Modelbuilder a bit to figure it out - it's not hard to learn, but does have its quirks. ArcGIS Help (10.2, 10.2.1, and 10.2.2) If you are skilled at programming, another option is to use Python to do the batching. This is a more elegant and efficient way to do it, but requires more skills. ArcGIS Help (10.2, 10.2.1, and 10.2.2) Dan Patterson Chris Donohue, GISP
