Can you check your web server's log files for any errors? I'd also try using a tool like the Firefox Add-on HttpFox to see what's happening to the requests.

You can update ExportWebMapForm.mxml to set the DPI by setting the exportOptions property on the PrintParameters. I see the following error when I open that Viewer with a debug Flash Player. I can see that it loaded eSearch/SearchWidgetFixedDG.swf. My guess is that it's this widget that's causing this error. Heather, Still no problems accessing map backgrounds on Arcgis.com. And no issues accessing them in previous versions of Flex. I don't have a http traffic bugger, and I probably won't be able to install one since I'm running on a government network/computer. Are you able to run Firefox? If you can, then you can try using the HttpFox or Firebug add-ons.

Hi Josh, Can you try setting these two attributes on the map tag to false: wraparound180="false" addarcgisbasemaps="false" This is an issue in 3.1 when the base map layer is not geographic or web mercator.

Is your Viewer or service public? It would help us to reproduce this issue. As a workaround, can you try setting the Map style "infoWindowRendererHighlightColor" to NaN. See: http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/flex-api/apiref/com/esri/ags/Map.html#styleSummary
