Hi - wanted to drop a note that the upcoming ArcGIS Online release (mid June) will have this functionality. You will be able to apply filters relative to the current date (i.e, filter using the last week, last weeks, month, etc.). Enhanced date field queries will also extend to calculate field. time offsets can be calculated and fields updated based on the calculation (say to update for a specific time zone or create a new field for inspection dates based on an installation date field). And can also perform calculations that will give the difference between two date fields as a float number output in terms of days (down to the second). For ex, DATE'6/30/2016 18:00' - DATE'6/1/2016 12:00' would output 29.25 days. Thanks, Chris

Hi Don - you can also hide the time part of the date field by configuring the pop-up to only show dates. In the Configure pop-ups panel on the layer menu, there's an option to configure attributes. There, you can change the field formatting for dates (and numbers). If you select your date field, you have the option to enable / disable 'Show time' for that particular field. Here's what you should see: Here's some info on how to configure popups: Configure pop-ups—ArcGIS Online Help | ArcGIS hope this helps - Chris

Hi Emily, you can do this in the popup configuration by setting your phone field to be a hyperlink with the protocol tel: to look like this: tel:{Phone Number Field Name}. To do this, go to Configure Pop-up -> Set the Display to 'A custom attribute display' -> Configure. In the Custom Attribute Display dialog, highlight the text (or field name) you want and select the hyperlink option. Below is a screenshot of an example configuration. Note - you'll need to build the rest of the popup for any other attributes you want to show (as I did with city, state, for example). Finished popup looks like this. Clicking on the phone number hyperlink will initiate a call (the actual behavior may be subject to the specific browser, enterprise / browser security settings, device, etc. But the tel: protocol is standard so should work in most cases).

Nice! good to hear. Using the world imagery as a base layer has been a common approach, for the reason you mention. And yes - the base layer sets the spatial reference and tiling scheme for the map, dictating how other layers in the map are requested. With the new multilayer basemap authoring, it can be a little muddy - it's now the base basemap layer (basically the first basemap layer listed). In most cases, not much tangible impact - feature services, map services with export map, and most other layers are requested with the appropriate projection. But when it's multiple tiled layers that don't support export map, they all must match up.

1) If I moved the feature label map service out of the base map group, would that 'fix' the problem? No, the issue would still persist - as long as the image service is the base layer, the label service would be requested with export map 2) In general, can image services be used as a base map? yup, absolutely. No known issues with using image services as basemaps. What you could do is add the Esri World Imagery layer as the base layer in the basemap layer group. Then add your image service, and then finally your label service. The label service would then be requested as tiles (the base layer is the tiled world imagery with the same spatial reference / tiling scheme as the label service, so the label service is requested as tiles as well). Not sure if this gets you where you want, but is an option. Here's an example using the layers in your basemap: http://www.arcgis.com/home/webmap/viewer.html?webmap=361a29b1b5104e3098a692441d6681b7

It looks like the export map request against the label map service is failing (seemed to happen for me in all browsers). Typically, requests to the service would be made as requests for the tiles themselves (like if you added on top of the world topo). But because the service was added on top of a non-tiled image service, any map services on top of the non-tiled will be requested with export map instead of tiles. thanks , Chris

Hi Tracy, It looks like the Esri Living Atlas layers aren't switched to https in all the cases they should be (basically, if your browser is in https, all esri resources should be served to you over https as well without any additional configuration or intervention on your part). A fix for the Living Atlas layers is planned for the next update (currently scheduled for Feb 29th). Thanks, Chris

Claire Inbody - it appears to be a mixed content issue. Chrome is basically blocking the layer from being loaded while IE allows it through (the behavior varies from browser to browser, and even version to version when the browser auto updates). Try loading the app from the link below (http, instead of https): http://ndor.maps.arcgis.com/apps/StorytellingSwipe/index.html?appid=8d57a3ffeab4485eb6565eac3feca5dc Alternatively, you can add the image service using the https url - https://ags3.lincoln.ne.gov/arcgis/rest/services/Aerials/Aerial1964/ImageServer Adding the image service url over https will help with the blank search issue you referenced above.

Hi Aaron, Sorry for the delayed response. In re to Can I enquire it there are any plans to implement a model within ArcGIS Online that will support storing credentials for ArcGIS Server Services secured with Web-Tier Authentication? It's something we're looking into. Though, I don't have an ETA at this time on when the functionality would be available. Feel free to send me an email at cwhitmore@esri.com if you want to discuss further (or would like to communicate your specific config / requirements in more detail). Thanks for the feedback, Chris

Hi Aaron, Andrew, Thanks for the solid feedback. For the issues you're seeing, it's best to contact Esri Technical Support - they'll be able to help troubleshoot. These types of issues can be quite tricky (many pieces with this). Regarding saving the credentials with web tier authentication, ArcGIS online does not store the credentials - it's all handled at the browser (i.e., web) level. ArcGIS Online allows for your particular web tier security implementation to bubble through, transparently to AGOL; when you are prompted to authenticate, you are entering credentials directly to your service. Typically, the browser will store the credentials for that session but that depends on the browser and any particular configurations that could affect the behavior (browser security settings for ex maybe). This is a bit different than token based authentication - in this case, AGOL acts as an intermediary, storing the credentials and proxying requests to your server with the stored credentials. A bit of a different model. Sorry for the confusion in doc on this point. We'll clarify that credentials are not stored with the added item when the secured service uses web tier authentication. Thanks, Chris ArcGIS Online Team

Hi Michael, You can do this as part of the publishing process in ArcMap: 1) add http://services.arcgisonline.com/arcgis as a GIS Server connection in ArcMap / Catalog. 2) go through the publishing process as usual. In the Service Editor -> Caching section, select 'An existing cached map / image service' (this should be in the same dropdown where you see the ArcGIS Online / Google / Bing Tiling Scheme option). 3) After selecting the option to specify an existing cached service, browse to your GIS Server connections and select the connection you created in step 1 and select the 'World_Topo_Map' service. 4) Click Add to select the service and close the browse dialog..back at the service editor caching dialog, you should now see all 24 levels, down to 1:70.x, as your available levels of detail. (For the issue you mentioned about the cache job still running, the best option is to contact Technical Support - they'll be able to troubleshoot.) Thanks, Chris

Hi Kieran - Here's a tool that can create basemaps with two layers: AGO Admin Tools With this tool, you can create a basemap with one of the layers as a reference layer (this means it will draw on top of all other layers in the map, similar to the labels in Esri's Imagery with Labels basemap) or you can simply define two services that will draw under other layers (for ex, if you have specific imagery for your area and want to have it draw on top of Esri's imagery layer as one basemap). Additionally, you can use url parameters in the ArcGIS.com map viewer to create a basemap with a base layer and a reference layer. For ex: http://www.arcgis.com/home/webmap/viewer.html?basemapUrl=http://services.arcgisonline.com/arcgis/rest/services/World_Imagery/MapServer&basemapReferenceUrl=http://services.arcgisonline.com/arcgis/rest/services/Reference/World_Transportation/MapServer Use URL parameters to modify maps—ArcGIS Online Help | ArcGIS When saved, this will create a multi-layer basemap that you can include in your basemap gallery, with the layer defined with the basemapReferenceUrl parameter configured as a reference layer. Hope this helps, Chris
