Hi ! You should not need any rotation .. Hmm. [There's only kml which has a rotation option in the exporter settings (check export presets), due to different standards in ArcGIS & GoogleEarth.] --> To what file format do you export ? Let me know.

Hi, @ Avgi : This thread may help you .. http://forums.esri.com/CityEngine/forum-44564.html @ sildefonso : any thing 'street-side related' needs the 'streetWidth' attributes set. This is automatically done with the lots produced by the Dynamic City Layouts systems ( Block Subdivision ). See the thread above to see how those can be set also on static shapes. The best way to classify facades based on the street is to actually evaluate the streetWidth() attribute value. Though the scripts provided above do not set those values too. ( The script was created about 2 years ago .. ) Note that CityEngine 2013 will have a builtin functionality for this (what my scripts emulate) ! Ok ? matt

Hi ! The easiest to start with this is to take any flat polygon with an interesting form, insert this via i() as building footprint, then extrude. Using recursions, you can create quite interesting forms ! Check the attachment .. Ok ?

Hi, 1] It seems, 1 mesh is written out per shape in such a kml file. That's just how it works currently. 2] There's currently no way to convert a generated Model to a Static Model. What you can do is : -Export the model as .dae/kml or .obj. Those are the file formats supported for Static Models [and assets]. Then re-import them. 3] Obj is not a georeferenced file format. Use kml instead. When drag-n-dropping a kml into the viewport from the project folder, it will automatically be placed in the right spot. Ok ?

Hi ! I'm currently really busy, so I can't really spend a lot of time for each thread on the forum. Sorry. Not all rules were originally written to be compatible with each other. That means a bit of recoding / attr renaming and such stuff will be needed. Honestly, I usually hate digging into somebody else's code, thus I usually start fresh. But maybe you find other facade rules in an other example, which are better working out for you. Let me know if this helped a bit..

Hi, ok, I better understand your confusion now. Changing yUp to zUp 'as a whole' in CityEngine is currently not possible. CityEngine works and stores everything in cartesian coordinates, in yUp. That's the way it was designed and that won't change in CityEngine soon. So since you have GIS data, you may not know that in ArcGIS 10.2, we provided a GP tool to have the geometries created directly in ArcScene (no import in CE > Generate > Export to ArcScene). So that may be an alternative to work entirely in zUp. Though there's a hotfix needed for 10.2 and CityEngine 2013 to actually create the RPKs ( Rule Packages ) to feed to the GP tool. So that's upcoming. Also, the GP tool is really stripped down in it's interface (only 1 start rule allowed, no attr changes possible to run the tool. This was done for simplicity, though I doubt it was a good decision.) So this means for you, it's best to just 'think' anything in y being height and xz being the horizontal plane. ALL the tools inside CityEngine work that way, ONLY the Navigation Display shows a 'live recalculated' info status in a standard zUp GIS way. > Currently no way around this. Let me know if you need more details / inputs ! Matt

Hi Ben, This functionality is already in there. Check out the 'Navigation Display' Settings in the viewport settings menu. Toggle the 'Navigation Display' with d,n. Also, toggle the 'Axes' with d,a. And the compass with d,c. But of course, we're open for inputs. If you miss anything specific, let me know... Matt

Hi, You'll need to create a Python script for this. This cannot be done automatically in the GUI. If you go through tutorial 12 very carefully (http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=e1d05298b8ee469fbe0f3256634a76a3), you'll find a way to access reported values. Make sure you download the tutorial files, this is not covered in the video version. Once you have the values, you can create an object attr with this. Try diving into this. I can help you later on if questions remain. Matt
