Hi, are you behind a proxy or could it be that your computer / company has limited access to the web ? maybe an IT person / admin may have an answer ? let me know .. matt

how big is your 3ws file ? anything bigger than 80 MB unzipped may crash your browser .. please break your scene down in individual components / layers / .. to track down which precise object causes the issue. if it's the terrain for example, try playing with it's UV-subdivisions. if you have found a single layer or model that causes the issue, it's much easier to explain what the issue is.. ok ? m.

Hi, yes, that is a current limitation. subshapes in the model hierarchy can not yet sample themselves. sadly. means the start shape only samples ONCE ( in the centroid ) and then, those attribute values stay constant for all subshapes. ok ? Matt

Hi, CGA ONLY 'works' on shapes, thus you cannot alter graph lines with CGA. graph lines CREATE shapes. To see the transparent models, you need to turn off the visibility of the shapes via F11. Please watch the first couple of tutorial videos, they explain all those questions. Check my signature for the FAQ thread. ok ? m.

these trees can be found in the venice example. not prefectly sure if that rule ever got released. the example demonstrated there, for the zoning, is philadelphia. for distribution code, check this : http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/54152-Distributing-assets-on-a-surface ok ? matt

Hi, FBX is capable of storing 2 UV sets and storing both maps ( colormap and dirtmap ). The question is how the target application interprets the FBX file. so first, check the resulting UV sets very precisely. if the UVs are different, maybe install Maya 2014 and check if the UVs are correct there. Usually, I've seen that bringing over dirtmaps is very tricky. Let me know. Matt

Hi, Yes, things like this are possible. I discussed such workflows with your collegue last year. We can discuss the option when we meet next time, ok ? 🙂 matt

Hi, This is currently not directly possible in CityEngine. CityEngine is a modeling application, no visualization application. So in general, I'd say you need to export the city model to a target viewer that supports a stereo camera rig. Ok ? Matt

Hi, Some things are not (yet) possible to synch/drive in just one step of model generation in CGA. One example: If you split a rectangle once through the shape, you always get 2 resulting shapes. If it's not a rectangle but a different concave form and you split it once, you may end up with multiple resulting shapes. that number ( the result ) can currently NOT be queried BEFORE the operation is actually performed. For this, CGA must be developed further a bit ( we're aware of this and considering to do so, of course). So the current best practice is to some things in CGA and some manually, repectively automatted via Python. Ok ? Matt

Hi Ben, That seems odd indeed and should not be an issue. Can you check the model hierarchy for one of those models ? Can you create a minimal project on which you can reproduce that behavior and send me the project ? If interested, send me a PM. Matt

Hi, 1] that's the way the system is designed. rules are rules and functions are functions. that's how it is. 2] currently not possible. maybe one day in the future, more advanced things are added to CGA, but that's how it works in the current state. 3] I recommend working with 'Generic Attributes'. That means instead of passing on values as 'rule parameters, such as Start -->
A(5)
A(n) -->
.. I'd say code like this: attr myStringList1 = "a;b;c;d"
attr myStringList2 = "u;v;w;x;y;z"
Lot -->
set(myStringList1, ..)
set(myStringList2, ..)
Continue. Question: What's the overall problem you try to solve that way ? I've never seen the need for this code structure before. What type of city are you trying to create ? Matt

Hi, No, the light is never exported. Plus, the obj file format does not support lights. Check all the materials first in Blender. If they're correct there, there exists an issue between Blender and that other package. I assume the transparency comes from 'single sided rendering' or 'backface culling'. Both techniques used in realtime environments to save resources when displaying geometries. Check these things, ok ? Matt
