but the error texture says 'unknown asset', not 'unknown texture'. means the obj you're displaying is not a cube.. this is just the 'error cube' you see. can you post the asset here ? let me know .. matt

Hmm. The geometry editing tools are not that advanced yet.. Can't you edit/clean those geometries better in ArcGIS / CAD ? I guess the big problem is that this shape is huge. [Means the transformation gizmo is usually shown at the centroid of the shape.] Maybe try to cut this polygon up in smaller chunks. Also, use the text field in the middle of the tool bar to rotate by a certain amount of degrees. e.g. '0 15 0' Let me know .. matt

Until CE2012, CityEngine could not interpret holes, thus it created a second shape, with inverted normals. In 2013, it is supported for shapeFiles and GDB. I'm not sure if it's also working with dxf files. Alex, can you provide a dxf file with a polygon with a hole ?

attr myBuildingFootprint = "assets/myFolder/myAsset.obj" Lot --> s(0,0,0) i(myBuildingFootprint) center(xz) Footprint. Hi, sorry, made a little booboo. center(xz) needs to go after the insert. for texturing is easy too. check the CGA reference for: setupProjection() projectUV() texture() ok ?

Hi, Yes, it's a bad thing those third-party editors kill that metadata. Maybe esri tech support ([email protected]) can help you with getting those edits done by maintaining the metadata in ArcGIS. ( I'm not a GIS expert ). On the import side, when the georef metadata is not available, CE just falls back to interpreting the imagery as 'standard' images. Matt

Hi ! I quickly had a chat with one of the developers and it seems that yes, the elevation range is always adapted to the minimal and maximum available values, not pure black and white. To import realworld data correctly the scaling is calculated internally based on the metadata that always comes with the imagery. I see the values of 646 (min) and 19458 (max) in your image. But since there's no height/width/unit data available, importing the data correctly is not really possible. Can you try to get to the source of those images and check if there's a 'world' file available for that data (for png it should be called .pnw) ? Let me know .. Matt

Hi ! The data for this WebScene was created based on floor plans: http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=9c0e319bfaff4d33a0fe2da97c2c3fd7 Look at the scene and check out the attribution. In general, any GDB should do. Just store each polygon with attributes for: - it's height above ground - if it's supposed to be extruded: the extrusion height (up to the next floor) Then, in CE, import the data and write a rule for the vertical translation and extrusion. For a proper data model, check also: https://github.com/Esri/3d-cities-template Does that help a bit ? Matt
