I closed the edit session, and closed the program, re-opened it and tried again. It still wouldn't work, but I noticed, doing an "id" that, since it was a duplicate, it was selecting both points. When I just selected the one point, it worked. Don't know why it wouldn't work when I selected only 1 row in the table, but I am good now. Thanks for the reply.

I am trying to delete a duplicate point. I have started an edit session, selected it graphically and in the table and I still cannnot delete it. After selecting it, the point is hightlighted, but the delete button wont' work, and the "X" on the standard toolbar is grayed out. What could be causing this? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I have a database (shapefile) that has a joined table to it. I need a field that is in my joined table to be a permanant field in my shape file so I can remove the join, but still have the field. I thought I could just calculate a field, but when I do that it is still showing up as a joined field. Can someone tell me how i can do this? Thanks. MKH

thanks for the reply. I understand the labels could be causing this. Whats odd is that it works on 2 of 3 computers. I can't understand why it won't work on the one. One of the working computers is using 10.1, and the other is using 10.2, so it cant be a version problem either. I am just really perplexed! 🙂

I am having an issue with labels in a map. On one computer, my labels work great, and if I call up the same mdx map on another computer, I am getting the following error One or more layers failed to draw: FDO error: 0 [Failed to label layer All Manholes for class Default.] A column was specified that does not exist. A column was specified that does not exist. Can anybody help me with what might be happening here? Thanks

tim...your did just what I wanted. I started me a new map and imported both shape files into it. The merge failed the first time, but I changed the order of which file I chose first, for the merge, and it worked. I have no idea why that would matter, but it did. Just seems sketchy to me that it would work one time and not the next. Anyway....I really do appreciate the time/help you put to this. Merry Christmas! Mike

Tim.... I just tried to merge the rjnexport file with the allmanholes file. I set the export file to a shapefile. The results show me being successful, but after looking at the attribute table, only the 100 from the rjn file are in the new file. Getting very frustrating! Sorry to keep bothering you but do you have an idea what might be happening here?

Tim...the rjn file was edited to make the bench cond field a text field. I left the other (all manholes) as it was. I really do appreciate your help on this.

Getting desparate now! Can someone take a look at these 2 files and try to get them combined. They are shape files of manholes surveyed by 2 different surveyors and I cant seem to get them combined into 1 file. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

as I look at the RJN Export file, something strange I can't figure out. I look at the shape file in catalog window and the properties reports arkansas north coordinate system, but as I look at them in my data frame, id a point then it is reporting in lat/long. Why is this? How do i get the rjn export points to show in the correct place?

I am using an excel spreadsheet, joining it to some data in my map. I have been able to join if i put the spreadsheet on my computer, but if I try to access it over the network, it will not connect. I get "failed to connect to database. General function failure. External table is not in the expected format. Can someone tell me why it will connect from my computer but not thru the nextwork? Is there a limit to the number of characters in the path?
