Typically the workflow our analysts follow is to make a copy in sub-folder named "backups", with 10.x the paths are saved correctly since we use "save relative paths". Using windows explorer won't do that, saving a copy from the ArcGIS application requires a minimal number of steps. What is the argument that lead to removing 10.x functionality? Why is it that I have to justify the behavior of Esri software to match existing Esri software?

One of the best enhancements of ArcGIS was the Save A Copy of the map document. This is not the same as "Save As", Save A Copy creates a back up copy with the correct paths pointing to the data. "Save As" creates a copy, but then the copy becomes the working document. Pro does not have this functionality which means making working back up copies of the Pro Projects is difficult. There is no need to make a copy of the Project GDB, just point the paths in the Project copy to that folder. Screenshot of 10.6 File menu:

Kory, This request is about enhancements not looking for a work-around. I am creating a map series using a feature class, but would like the index sheet a part of the original export with all pages, not a separate PDF which I would have to edit into the whole series. I have done this in the past with 10.X by using scale dependencies and an index sheet feature. For the export part you are right I could add a field, but the new Sort Field functionality is what I want and is present in the TOC, but no where else. Emmor

I have created a map series of 118 sheets and have used the nice "Sort Field" feature. Thank you for this functionality. There are two things that I would like MSP to do: 1) The individual PDF file names to be a combination of Page Number AND Page Name 2) To be able to create an index page with a map showing the pages and numbers as the first page of the Map Series The problem is that with Page Number on individual files it isn't possible to know the grouping, and with the Page Nameit also isn't possible to know the grouping since they sort alphabetically. I can create an index sheet showing the entire extent of the map series, but an index with page numbers would allow the users to quickly go to the desired page. Are these things possible and I'm missing something? If the Map Series Group By and Page Numbers could be exported then the values could be added to the index featureclass I am using, and then easily displayed on an index page. Thanks Emmor

Brian, I was able to use the OLC Python code directly in Pro to calculate the 10 digit plus code for some building points in Africa. It took a little over an hour to do 18 million points. After that is was easy to pull out the local 6 digit + code and to an overlay with regions to get an address combination. I notice that OSMAnd now supports plus codes. Emmor

I find that the mouse roll zoom can be very sensitive and I often accidentally zoom to a scale that is appropriate for solar system mapping, the layers are then rendered slowly and the map is not usable. The solution is to hit the zoom to previous extent. The option would prevent users from accidentally zooming to an unusable extent.

Any progress Brian? It seems that the Plus Code system might have some merit, but the description is very non-GIS. Emmor 84PRWXJR+2Q

I don't understand why the functionality of Pro is so different from 10.5 I am doing a simple vector map that is 5 MB in 10.5 and 37 MB in Pro 2.0, the Image Quality setting changes nothing and the DPI is 96 It is absurd that the "solution" is to buy Acrobat Pro is still quite young in the lifecycle

Thanks for the explanation Craig, In the course of my career using Esri software I have had to learn new methods of doing work five major times with dozens of minor changes in between. Often the new methodology involves throwing away the "new" practices from the previous iteration. There is no reason to believe that in the next major overhaul panels and ribbons will be replaced by spaghetti and sparkles or something like that. Muscle memory aside, it is still faster to double click on a feature class than right clicking on the feature class and choosing an option or clicking on a feature class and then opening the panel on the right side.

Thanks for the graphic illustrating my point My method of work (habit) from ArcMap is to double click to get layer properties rather than right click. Why isn't Symbology a Layer Property in ArcGIS Pro? I suppose the theory is that the symbology is just display within Pro, not an "actual" property of the feature class.

In ArcMap when you double click on a layer in the TOC Symbology is an option. In Pro you have to right click to get to Symbology. What am I missing here?
