Hello Tina I am just now circling back to this App development after a much needed break. I have included the code you provided in my code on both the MapViewerApp.qml and MapPage.qml pages respectfully. When I run the app, I still get all the data fields in the app. See attached photo. I have hidden all the fields I do not want to see in my feature layers on my ArcGISOnline account. When I look at the basemap that I am using for the app on ArcGISOnline, only the fields that I want are present on the pop-up, when I look at them in the App I have too many fields. The screen shot displays the same feature in the App on the left and on ArcGISOnline on the right. I only want the name, type, and manager fields to pup up in the App, not all the other information that is not useful to users. As I understand the code it should only be displaying the visible fields from the online map? I am guessing that this comes from the following line: function isFieldVisisble(fields, fieldName) Please let me know if I am doing something wrong.

Hello All, I have been working with the Quick Report Template as a way for users of the app that we are creating to capture locations and photographs of features while they are using the app in the field. Yesterday, when I was looking at our study area, I realized that most, if not all, of the locations where the app will likely be used are areas that do not have cell phone service. Within the Quick Report Template there is the Refine Location page where users are able to drop a pin on their location. I am worried that without cell service that this page will have no utility to the users. I especially think that is true with users that are not familiar with the study area and would have no idea where they were when looking at a map and trying to drop a point. I am thinking of getting rid of the Refine Location page. However, what I am wondering is, if there is a way that the lat and long from geotagged photos can be used to identify the location of where the photo was taken? This would enable the points the app's affiliated feature layer that is being updated to be placed based on the photo's data. Please let me know if this makes sense or if any clarification is needed. Thanks

Hi Phil Thanks so much for this response. I am still a bit confused, so maybe the project goals outlined below will help. We are developing a Survey123 survey that volunteers will use to identify areas within a forest that are in a degraded state. Most, if not all, of these areas, are in areas without cell phone service so the data will be collected offline. One of the things that we are looking to collect, with this survey, is the footprint of the degraded site and/or the length of any linear disturbances. We are hoping that volunteers will be able to create polygons and/or polylines by walking the the perimeter of the site or by walking along the linear feature, utilizing their GPSs in their mobile devices. In the end we hope to compare these footprints and linear distances year over year to see if they are getting better or worse. I still do not see how the geotrace functionality will allow users to do this as it seems like they still have to hand draw on the map. Please let me know if this makes sense. Garrett

Hello As I understand it, the new geotrace feature in Survey123 allows users to draw in lines or polygons on a map using their fingers. However, I am looking for solution that is similar to the capture in Collector, where users can walk around and collect GPS points to create a line or polygon. Is this possible in Survey123? Also, is it possible to use this function when offline? Thanks Garrett

Hello Erwin Would you suggest that I right-click and Add New... (I am on a Mac) to create a new MapPage in the QuickReports pages and then try to copy the associated UI code and such to this page? What about the other .qml code that is set up in the controls and views folders that are used by the MapViewer MapPage? For example the MapPage references the Icon.qml and other .qml files in the controls folder and the Panel.qml and other .qml files in the views folder. Should I right-click and Add New... to copy the code and create these files in the proper location within the QuickReport folder structure? I guess this is what I originally meant by copying and pasting the MapViewer template files over to the QuickReports template. However, I think that the MapPage.qml file also references the MapViewerApp.qml file. Sorry if these are basic questions and for my frustration above. I am on a steep learning curve here and am just trying to continue to move forward. Garrett

Hello I am working on a survey that will be used by select volunteers in order to collect field-based data. We were wondering if there is an elegant way to ensure that only the selected volunteers are able to complete the survey? The volunteers are members of the general public and they are not affiliated with the organization that I am working with. From my understanding, if we make the survey public, these volunteers will not need to have and ArcGIS online account and will only need to download the Survey123 app. Again, since the survey is going to be public, and we only want to let select volunteers use it, we are looking for a way to ensure that we are only including the validated surveys in our analysis. I had a few thoughts but they are messy including assigning each individual a unique code and having them fill that in on a single line of text question at the beginning of the survey. If there is not a matching code, I can filter out those records during data processing. On the other hand, it would be nice if there could be something that would look for unique ids as they are entered and if there are matches it would allow the user to proceed. I am not sure if surveys can be protected via password, but we are are worried that passwords may become widely dispersed within the community. Please let me know if anyone has any better or more intuitive ideas. Thanks

Hi Tina Thanks so much for this. Stupid beginner question. What should go in between the brackets { ...} under each of the functions? Thanks Garrett

Hello Erwin Thanks for the response. This is somewhat disappointing that the two cannot be easily merged. When I originally embarked on this project I was informed that they could. I guess I got to a false summit as I thought that I was almost to the top. I am sure more questions will arise.

Hello I have been using functionality of the MapViewer and QuickReport templates as the basis for my app. From the MapViewer template I am only using the MapPage.qml and all the affiliated controls, images, etc... I want to keep the menu drawer from the MapViewer template that has About this App. I got rid of the Back to Gallery and Font Size within the drawer. From the QuickReport template I am starting with the DisclaimerPage.qml and continuing on to the final submissions of observations. For the final app, I want the MapPage from the MapViewer template to be the landing page. I am going to add a button on the header to to get to the DisclaimerPage. See the attached sketch for the a visual representation of how I envision the app working. What I am looking for is the most efficient way to combine these two templates without breaking the functionality and infrastructure that are inherent in both. Should I copy all the files from the MapViewer template to the QuickReport template in Finder? I am working on a Mac. I know that there are different calls form MapViewer and QuickReport. For example, as you are aware, one has a folder for "pages" and the other has a page for "views". I also know that each of the individual pages that I am working with interact with the main root .qml files (MapViewerApp.qml and QuickReportApp.qml) as well as other .qml files and images that exist within the folder structure. Additionally, there are things that are controlled using settings from AppStudio and I am concerned that if I transfer the files in Finder that they will not be inherited by all the pages. I am open to any and all suggestions. I can make copies of both templates to make sure I do not loose any work that I have completed thus far. Thanks...

Hi Sorry. I tried to reconfigure the popup and I am still getting the full list of attributes in the legend. See attached screenshot. I should note that I am loading the web map directly into the MapPage using the portalUrl and itemID commands (if that is what they are called), I am not sure if that is why it is not working? Thanks again Garrett

Hi. I have not downloaded the most recent Beta version. If I download it will I loose the work that I have done on the two templates that I am working with? I know that you guys could fly through what I have done thus far, but I have about a week or two worth of work on these templates and would hate to loose my momentum. Not that I am complaining, this is one of the most challenging projects that I have worked on and most of that time is just getting used to the coding and architecture of the templates themselves and constantly deleting, adding, and subsequently testing everything that I do. If the error dialog does not pop up when I run the app it is rewarding. Maybe the best route is to use ArcGIS Online to hide the attributes, that is not hard for me to do and like I said most are internal designations and would have no meaning for the general public. Thanks again and more questions will be coming I am sure. Garrett

Hello Again, Thank you for this clarification. I like the first option, direct to the Add Location page. For my purposes, in only having a single point for a single feature, this is a great alternative and people will not have to filter through two additional pages to get to this point in their app using experience. I am sure that I will be posting more questions, but all the ESRI staff has been really receptive and provided great help in these forums. Have a great day, Garrett

Hello Tina Thank you so much. That definitely got rid of the measure tool button and the map page functions as I would expect it to now. Did you get a chance to look at the question regarding the attributes that show in the legend? Right now I have a feature layer that has about 15 attributes and I only want to show three of them. Should I get rid of some of these attributes in ArcGIS Online or within ArcMap and reload them into ArcGIS Online? They would have no meaning to the general public who will be using this app if I ever get it finished. Again, thank you so much and have a great day, Garrett
