When you federate the server to the Portal, it copies your rest services into Portal. Do you access your own REST Services with a URL to Portal? Or does your URL to the Enterprise Server still work in your Flex Viewers? Thanks, Janie

Hi Jonathan, Thanks so much for answering! If I used a Domain Certificate, will my external anonymous users see the browser warning about being an unsecured site? Thanks, Janie

Hi, If Portal and Server are behind the firewall and the Web Adaptor is forward facing on the web server configured to ArcGIS Server, and we are using Built-in users and Built-in groups on ArcGIS Server and ArcGIS for Portal and I install a new 10.5 Portal, do I need to do any of the https stuff and installing the second web adaptor for Portal? See this link: About configuring portal authentication—Portal for ArcGIS (10.5) | ArcGIS Enterprise Configuring built-in users and groups using the portal's identity store No steps are necessary to configure the portal when using built-in users and groups; the portal is ready for built-in users and groups immediately after installing the software. If you are using enterprise users, see the following sections and related links for more information.

Thanks Jonathan, I understand now I will not be able to use the IWA in AD to get the SSO. So now I will go with built-in users and built-in groups in Portal just like in my Enterprise Server. Thanks, Janie

Since we don't have SAML and we have internet anonymous users using our public rest services and we have Intranet users accessing secure rest services we will need to use Built in Users and Built in Groups in our new Portal at 10.5. We are using Built in Users and Built in groups on Server (Enterprise). Can you federate your Enterprise Server to Portal when using Built-in Users and Built-In Groups in Portal? Also when you federate the server to the Portal, it copies your rest services into Portal. Does it copy the users and groups into Portal? Thanks, Janie

Will Enterprise User IDs with a dash create a new Portal Account correctly, when you setup Portal 10.5 using the IWA with AD accounts. It appears they will work correctly by this explanation. Add members to your portal—Portal for ArcGIS (10.5) | ArcGIS Enterprise Add members based on existing enterprise users If your portal has been configured with an enterprise identity provider, enterprise accounts can be added individually, in bulk, or from enterprise groups managed by the identity provider. You cannot add enterprise accounts to your portal if it has not been configured with an enterprise identity store. Note: Accounts must include an email address in order to be added to the portal. Any special characters in account names will be changed to an underscore (_), except the at sign (@), point (.), or dash (-). Add built-in portal accounts However all the other directions explaining how to setup new users in Portal using built-in, one at a time, say differently. They say you can only add user-ids with an underscore. account—The account is the user name to be used for the built-in account. Accounts must be between 6 and 24 characters in length, and they can only contain alphanumeric ASCII characters or underscores. Thanks, Janie

Hi, I am preparing to go from 10.2.1 (no Portal) to 10.5 (with Portal). I have users that are anonymous that use our public rest services. I have intranet users that use public and secure rest services. I have anonymous access turned on in my web adaptor to Enterprise currently and everything works great. In watching the webinars, it says I have to turn anonymous off and turn the IWA using AD on to get my SSO. It mentioned using a second web adaptor to Enterprise with anonymous enabled to achieve this. I just want to make sure I'm getting this correct. I also understand it will now also require a web adaptor that connects to my new Portal. So I will have 3 web adaptors on my Web Server? My operating system is Windows 2008 R2 using IIS. Thanks, Janie

Hi Jaclyn, We have not deployed yet. We had to upgrade our SQL Server from 2008 to 2012 SP3 first. We have that done now. I have not used Portal before. So I'm watching the webinars and reading installation manuals on how to do the security side of this. I have a much better understanding of it now. The one thing to watch for is the RAM on your ArcGIS Server. Portal uses 8 GB RAM and ArcGIS Server uses 8 GB RAM. We just got an upgrade on our RAM this week. So we will be going soon. I'll let you know! Janie

I only have 4 Gb RAM on my Web Server. So I want to make sure that it will run two web adapters. Thanks, Janie Sent from my iPhone I forgot to say I already have the one web adaptor running linking to ArcGis Server. Now I'll need the second web adaptor running linking to portal. I have 4 GB RAM total.

Hi, In going to Portal on 10.5, it looks like it will require one Web Adaptor for my ArcGIS Server and a second Web Adaptor for Portal for ArcGIS. So I need to know how much RAM they will need on my Web Server? Thanks, Janie
