Hi Jonathan, I will be happy to use the Web Adaptor either place they have me put the Portal for ArcGIS. It does sound like it is very much needed. We are debating putting the Portal for ArcGIS on the Web Server OR the same server behind the firewall the ArcGIS for Server is currently on. Any input? Thanks, Janie

If you install Portal for ArcGIS on the forward facing web server, do you still have to install the web adaptor for portal on the web server. I understand that the web adaptor forwards the requests to the Portal when Portal is behind the firewall. The documentation says you must install the web adaptor here. http://geodata.cherokee.org/portal/portalhelp/en/admin/help/#/Portal_for_ArcGIS_10_5_system_requirements/017s000000q0000000/ ArcGIS Web Adaptor -ArcGIS Web Adaptor is a required component of Portal for ArcGIS, which allows you to integrate your portal with your existing web server and your organization's security mechanisms. You cannot deploy Portal for ArcGIS in your organization without the Web Adaptor. Thanks, Janie

Gabi, Are you talking about the Search widget? It looks for a certain value in a field you named in your list of fields? When you are talking about geocoding, that sounds like the address we enter into the widget bar. The geocoding done in the World Geocoder is I BELIEVE free when done online one address at a time. So we use the World Geocoder in our Flex Viewer. It is the BATCH geocoding that definitely requires Enterprise Credits. Thanks, Janie

Gabi, We are in the process of upgrading. I have Portal 10.5 up but not my server yet. We are in the process of get CA Certificates. I haven't worked with SSL and all this before. So wow! I'm learning as I go. When we do get this upgraded I'll let you know how the search works in FV 3.7 on Server 10.5. Thanks, Janie

Gabi, Yes our people know Robert by name too! Robert, I remember when we upgraded to Flex Viewer 3.7 there were changes in the search I believe. Would it buy Gabi anything to upgrade that Flex Viewer 3.2 to 3.7? Would it work better with 10.3 then? At least Gabi is familiar with the Flex Viewer program. Janie

Do you choose the cross domain upgrade too when you upgrade the server? I have the cross domain files currently.

Hi Derek, Thanks! I'm going to try to get the two certificates. One for the Web Server with the web adaptors and the second one for the internal server with Portal and Server on it. I'm also planning on federating the server and using that server as the hosting server. Thanks, Janie

Hi Derek, Thanks so much for answering! To Clarify. Yes both Portal and Server are on the same server machine behind the Firewall. My confusion is to whether the CA Certificate is put on each product or on the Default website of the server they are both on. That is my confusion. So your answers are as I understand it, that I need one CA Certificate on the external facing web server where my two web adaptors are. I bind it to the Default Web Site. This takes care of both web adaptors. So I don't need a CA Certificate on the internal web server that houses both Portal and ArcGIS Server? Thanks, Janie

I would like to confirm my understanding of how Secured REST Services are handled in the Portal Security versus the ArcGIS Server Security. ArcGIS Server: In ArcGIS Server you added user Frank. Frank was added to ROLE WaterDepartment. Secured REST Service WaterMeters added access to the ROLE WaterDepartment. Frank could access this layer in his Flex Viewer by signing in, when he loaded the Flex Viewer. ArcGIS for Portal: At Federation of my ArcGIS Server to Portal, all my REST Services are registered with Portal as Portal Items. In Portal I created a user Frank. Frank was added to GROUP WaterDepartment. Secured REST Service WaterMeters added access to the GROUP WaterDepartment. So if Frank signs into Portal and uses a new web app created in Portal, that uses this secured Portal Item, he will be granted access to this data, without further signing in. Have I understood correctly? Thanks, Janie

I have a forward facing web server with a web adaptor for Portal and a second web adaptor for ArcGIS Server. I have a server behind the firewall with both Portal and ArcGIS Server on it. My security is allowing anonymous and both Http and Https on both Portal and ArcGIS Server. So I understand I need a CA certificate on the forward facing web server. So do I need a CA certificate on the internal server on each Portal and ArcGIS Server? Or do I need just one CA certificate on the internal server? I also don’t understand, if when you bind the certificate, if you bind it to the Default web site or the actual site for each Portal and again on Server? Thanks, Janie

We do not have SAML. When we installed Portal, it gave us an option to add users in bulk from a csv file to our built-in user identity store. We were able to make this file using our current enterprise user ids which are first name dash last name. This upload did work with the dash in the user ids. Janie

Thanks Jayanta, I was worried my Flex Viewers would all not find their data, when I run the Enterprise Federation to Portal. This is good news. Thanks, Janie
