Anthony, This widget is great! One question though. Is there a way to display Lat/Long. I see in the .mxml that its defaulted to show what ever coordinate system the base map is, but I would find Lat/Long would be more useful to the people that access my viewer. I've tried to tell it to show "mapLat" and "mapLon" but based on the error I get, those don't appear to be defined in the code anywhere. Thanks

Dasa, I really am not sure what is causing the error. I just know that when I use https for a link, most of the time I get a certificate error with options to close the page or continue to the page. When I only use http, I am taken directly to the page. As far as the error with my viewer is concerned, I'm not sure what other information to provide other than the error message I posted earlier in this thread. I've tried the recommendations that I have been given, and the only one that really seemed to make sense would be that the source code is refering to the https://www.arcgis.com as apposed to http://www.arcgis.com even when I make the correction with the "portalurl". As stated before, I currently run with v3.0 and have not come accross this issue, at least not with the basemaps. That's why I was thinking that something in the source code had changed when going from 3.0-3.1 I hope this helps.

Dasa, I'm sorry, I'm not completely understanding what you are asking me to do? are you just asking me to log into the site you provided, or do you want me to try to load it in my viewer? If you just need me to load it in a browser, I have no issues getting to that site, not even a certificate error. As far as being expected, I'm really not sure. since I'm on a government network, the policies are contstantly changing, and it's very possible that with the change from http to https that the permissions no longer match up. Thank you for your help with this.

Thank you for everyone's help so far. But I'm still unable to make this work. I just tried to add the portalurl and it didn't seem to make a difference. That specific URL has to be referenced somewhere else. Any idea where?

Heather, I think you might be correct with the difference being https and http because I tried to access them both in my browser and the https gave me a certificate error. The catch I'm having now, in order to test this out, is that I don't see "portalurl" in my config.xml. Could this be located in another file location? I see "portalurl" alot on the PortalBasemapAppender.as but no specific URLs are referenced.

Heather, No problem with using individual map layers in the basemaps section of the config.xml. I don't have to do this in version 3.0 though, my config.xml for 3.0 says addarcgisbasemaps="true". I'm not understanding what has changed in 3.1 to give me this error.

Heather, Still no problems accessing map backgrounds on Arcgis.com. And no issues accessing them in previous versions of Flex. I don't have a http traffic bugger, and I probably won't be able to install one since I'm running on a government network/computer.

Heather, Just switched the addarcgisbasemaps from "true" to "false". Got no error upon compiling it. So does this mean that there is an error in the basemap somewhere, maybe an .as or .mxml somewhere? Because I use the basemap window in 3.0 with no issue so that's the only solution I can think of.

Heather, I'm not using App Builder. I'm not even entirely sure what that is. I'm using Adobe Flash Builder and I haven't changed anything in the source code since I downloaded it. I have tried to use links to other web services since this error appreared, but I've gotten error no matter what I use. I'm just not sure why I'm getting this error. I followed the same process that I have used in the past to create the viewer.

Heather, yes, I am able to access the link you provided. I'm not sure what portal URL I have set. It should be whatever it was set to be when I downloaded it, since I haven't edited any of the code yet. Yes I get the same error when I attempt to comile the source code in Flash Builder, but again, I haven't made any changes so whatever is referenced in the download, is what is trying to be accessed when I compile it in FlashBuilder.

I have recently downloaded v3.1 to test out. I've attempted to use the compiled and uncompiled versions and both have given me similar results. I'm not sure if there is something different that I need to do in this version, but previously it was more or less plug and play. I've attached a copy of the error I'm recieving. If anyone can help I'd appreciate it. Thanks

Recently, I've started getting errors in my Viewer when it opens. The errors are related to layers that I have created and published to a server in another location. The problem seems to be the communication between where my viewer is stored and where the layers are published from. I've checked the URLs within the code and they are correct. My bottom line question is, has anyone else ran into this issue, and if so, how did you go about trying to fix it? I've attached a copy of the error that I'm getting in my viewer for reference. Thanks

It's being put in the altantic ocean off the west coast of africa. not sure what is causing this. I'm getting it in your test viewer as well. Just not sure what is causing it so I can correct it. Thanks for taking a look
