I'm only able to export to a file gdb. All other options either have no response when I click next or they go to a blank screen. I've exported to a webscene from this CityEngine file before so I don't understand the issue. I've added a few things to the scene but nothing different data wise than what is already there. Perhaps it's just me but I seem to get inconsistent results with CityEngine, same process will often not replicate itself. Scott

I'm importing a model (.obj) into CE that was created in Sketchup but when it is imported the scale is way off. I know I can scale the model manually but this defeats the purpose since the CE model needs to show the proposed development exactly to scale (not a rough guess). How do I convert the model in CE? What characteristics do I need to gather from Sketchup?

I can convert the shapes to models (which is the intended end result, correct?) but when I navigate around the site CityEngine crashes and I receive the attached error. Am I approaching this the wrong way? My video card is higher than recommended specs.

I'm trying to determine the best workflow for our 3D project. We have a fairly robust set of data but it's only accurate as of 2009. As we update it we're trying to get developers to send us their developments (I've been told to request it as a .dae) and we place it in our project. This is our ideal workflow moving forward as well. The most recent .dae file we received including not only the development but the surrounding area as well, which we don't need. I was able to import it by right clicking on the item and unchecking "import as static model". This gave me the ability to delete the shapes that weren't needed. However, I'm still left with over 60,000 shapes (the development is pretty large and includes a high level of detail). I assume due to the number of shapes, City Engine keeps crashing on me and I'm unable to generate a model from the shapes. Is it possible to reduce/simplify the shapes? Many of the shapes are being generated by all the window and and facade cutouts, but I'd rather capture these using a texture and so most wouldn't be needed. In the end, what I'd like is to add the development in our existing project in whatever format is the smallest/easiest to deal with (I'm assuming this would be a model but should it just be shapes turned to a model, or from a file gdb, or imported as a .dae, .obj,etc.?). Apologies if this post is too vague or confusing. I can provide screenshots and more info if needed. Thanks, Scott

Thanks, Z R. That worked perfectly. Now what if I want to extrude the polygon slightly (say between 0-5 feet) but still have the textures? It's fine if the texture is the same for the top and sides (in fact that would be preferred). Scott

I'm looking for a simple rule to add textures to flat polygons, similar to the Apply Color rule found in the Essential Skills Training tutorials. Any help? Scott

If I understand you correctly, you're looking for the section of the code displayed below: //Activities to be displayed in info window for a feature Activities: [{ FieldName: "${RESTROOM}", Alias: "Restrooms Available", Image: "images/restrooms.png", isSelected: true }, { FieldName: "${ADACOMPLY}", Alias: "ADA Compliant", Image: "images/ada compliant.png" }, { FieldName: "${SWIMMING}", Alias: "Swimming", Image: "images/swimming.png" }, Change the part where it says isSelected to false.

That fixed it. Somehow I was able to get myself woefully turned around but I'm good now. Another question, and if this should be moved to the general Web App Builder group let me know. I only ask it here because it may piggyback of your Search widget. I'm looking for a way to start editing a feature directly from the popup box. This is available in the basic web map viewer in ArcGIS online (see attached) but not anywhere else. It seems that it would be simple to add an item that would initiate the editor widget but I've been unsuccessful finding a solutions so far.

Not sure if this has anything to do with why there haven't been any responses but I posted the incorrect link to our application. The correct link is here.

We've been able to successfully download the Find, Edit, Filter template, customize the configurations, and host it on our own server but here is the issue we are facing now. We're looking to use this application for our Business License field officers. They stop by a business, check their business license and then classify it one of several different ways. The Business License layer is a point layer. By and large we do not have our address layer separated into units so in a few instances we have many Business License points right on top of each other making the data hard to edit. Not a huge deal from the desktop but if you're using a tablet it's a pain to scroll through 15 different pop-ups to edit the feature you want. As a result we're using the search function to search by business name. Has anyone written code that will create an edit button within the popup once the feature is found from the search box? As it stands now we can search for and zoom to the feature but then you must click the edit button and then reclick the feature you want to edit. Doing this means you have to then scroll through until you find your feature (link to application, search for Yankee Candle, click edit button then click back on feature). It's built in as a feature in the default web map (see attached picture) but not in any of the apps.

We've been able to successfully download the Find, Edit, Filter template, customize the configurations, and host it on our own server but there are two (somewhat related) issues we are facing now. 1. 2. If you highlight the feature before you click on the editor button you're unable to move the point once you then start editing it. It's almost as if you can't move any feature that's selected because if you select another layer (in this case a parcel) and then go back to editing you can move the original point feature. I'm assuming this is a bug as the issue is present in the Basic Viewer, the Editor template, and the edit widget within the Web App Builder. Anyone experience this differently?

Not sure if you found your solution or not but you can select all but one layer, remove them from the map, upload your service, and then undo (CTRL+Z) remove layers bringing them all back. Repeat for other layers. A bit of a nuisance but the the best option I've discovered so far. Scott
