@90elka, *, Logged in without issue just a moment ago using an sftp client (FileZilla). As noted previously, for users choosing the https web browser Java applet, you will have to tell your browser at several steps to allow it to run. Stuart

Terry, Sorry, no insult intended--just being realistic, you alone seem to have the issue with this community service as provided by Esri. Based on the number of posts describing problems accessing the software, your repeated stance that everything is fine as it is can be debated. A half dozen users with transitory issues connecting to the MFT service is hardly a crisis. My previous post was addressed to folks who have stewardship of this data and the mft access portal. It was not addressed to you. Perhaps, but really not much point for you to complain to a project support forum when a simple PM would get you direct answers from Esri. Suggest that you contact Esri Professional Services - Water Resources Team at [email protected] Christine Dartiguenave monitors that email address and would likely answer for the team. Alternatively, you could directly contact Dr. Dean Djokic -- [email protected], it is his team. Might be worth the effort as despite a functional repository with viable MFT delivery, Esri Professional Services might be willing to make other arrangements to support you and your fellow users at the U.S. Department of the Interior. Regards, Stuart

Terry, *, An MFT based delivery, as opposed to a password ftp service as existed previously, is not an especially high hurdle for even average users to clear. Especially given that a user looking to integrate use of ArcHydro Tools (and perhaps the HEC GeoRAS and GeoHMS) in their workflows would require computer acumen a notch above the skill set of the casual user of GIS. Reliability of Esri's choice of MFT does seem a bit off of late, but in truth I have not experienced more than a couple of hours of non-availability for a single session with the https://mft.esri.com services for the 17 months--since November 2012--that the service has been in use. It works at least as well as the prior FTP services. The ArcGIS Communities --> Hydrology --> Surface Water site links to extremely old and static builds of ArcHydro Tools -- the linked versions should NOT be used as they are unmaintained. Current build for ArcGIS for Desktop 10.0 is 2.0.1.156 (the communities site post was for 2.0.1.133), and current build for ArcGIS for Desktop 10.1 is 10.1.0.297 (the communities site posting remains 10.1.0.96). In short folks should learn to use the provided MFT service. Stuart

Ian, ArcGIS for Desktop 10.2 is a 32-bit program, but has a 64-bit geoprocessing "extension" that can be optionally installed. ArcHydro Tools offers two flavors, the default 32-bit to install as an extension to default 32-bit ArcGIS for Desktop. And a version to install if the 64-bit geoprocessing "extension" has been installed. The link noted in your error, c:\python27\arcgisx6410.1\lib\site-packages\archydrotools.pth, would be created only if the 64-bit geoprocessing and the 64-bit Python had been installed. You'll need to back things out, and download the 32-bit ArcHydro Tools installer and use that. Or you'll need to install the 64-bit geoprocessing extension, and once that is on try the installation again. Stuart

Terry, Esri Professional Services has long maintained their proprietary instructional materials along side the public domain software for the ArcHydro extensions. Since they maintain the site they can host it as they see fit--so long as I still get access to the updates, patches and developmental builds that I need to provide to my faculty and students for course work and research. I'm happy with it and see no reason to change what works beyond their decision to shift from ftp --> sftp. Consider the alternative, that it be added to the completely borked ArcGIS Online based ArcGIS Resource Center codebase, SHUDDER!!!! I reiterate, deal with it. But so as not to seem to boorish I'll offer to burn you, or anyone else, a DVD and snail mail it to you if you are really in that bad a state as to not being able to launch an outgoing sftp transfer over SSH port 22. Terry, As you are new to the forums, I'll be gentle. Esri Professional Services -- Water Resources Group is the keeper of the community developed ArcHydro data models and the various public domain tools required to manipulate the data format. They also host the beta testing and development for the USACE HEC folks and make those resources publicly available. About a year ago Esri moved the hosting from password protected simple ftp based to more reliable and secure Managed File Transfer (mft) model. There has never been an effort to maintain current versions of the ArcHydro Tools of the related HEC GeoRAS or HEC GeoHMS from anonymous HTTP URL links. On occasion it might be announced on a blog or a forum post, but the most reliable delivery has been via the ftp and now the sftp process. There have been a few hicups of late with the MFT service, with access dropping out and content being misplaced, but it remains the mechanism of choice to maintain access to this public domain software to extend ArcGIS with Hydrologic modeling tools. The new MFT service requires just a bit more effort on the part of users, but that is what Esri has adopted for hosting the service. In short -- deal with it! Stuart

Mike, Try again, just verified site is up an functional with the new credentials (wef. 11 March 2014) as found here: http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/104391-New-password-for-Arc-Hydro-ftp-site-March-11-2014?p=372117&viewfull=1#post372117 Note though that incomming folder has been renamed camp. So the /incoming/HECGeoRAS/Setup10.2_Beta/10.2.0.2/ has become /camp/HECGeoRAS/Setup10.2_Beta/10.2.0.2 Stuart

Scott, AppFramework has been bundled with the ArcHydroTools for quite some time, no longer a separate install. Review the 'Readme.doc' for the current state of the ArcHydroTools and related projects. You need to go back to the mft secure transfer site and grab the ESRI.APWR.ApRegWork.zip uninstaller from the ApRegWork directory. Set the 'Search text' to Run against ALL components. Allow it to complete. Then reboot. Then grab the ArcHydroTools 10.1 (build v10.1.0.258), or maybe the GeoHMS 10.1 Beta (build v10.1.0.64) if you are going to follow HEC HMS procedure. Install should proceed with all needed components as bundled with either build (GeoHMS installs a bundled build ArcHydroTools prior to its run). Stuart

Please try again. It continues to work with the credentials as posted. Secure transfer site is fully functional. One recent change has been in the landing directory for the account on the mft server. All Water Resources content has been moved from 'incoming' into a new directory 'camp' (wef 26 March 2014). Christine, any insight on this? Stuart

Just verified there are no issues with a fresh 'Site' connection using FileZilla. Perhaps delete the existing entry in FileZilla site manager and enter the connection details as listed, i.e. mft.esri.com, port 22, "SFTP -- SSH File Transfer Protocol" DO NOT COPY and PASTE the login and password from your web browser! Rather, TYPE it in! Or at the least copy it first to Notepad--and remove any extra spaces--and then copy & paste into the User and Password fields of FileZilla. Stuart

Dori, CityEngine should have installed a license configuration file esriLicense.config to the C:\ProgramData\Esri directory. The older 2012 release put it in the home folder for the user doing the installation. Check that it is present, is readable by unprivileged users, and that the contents are similar to this: CITYENGINE_CONFIG=TRUE
SOFTWARE_CLASS_CITYENGINE=Advanced
SEAT_PREFERENCE_CITYENGINE=Float
LICENSE_SERVER=port@FQDN (or @IP) If not there (held over from 2012?), see if you can find the existing esri.config or esriLicense.config and review its placement and content, that may give you some idea of why it quit working. Note that rather than a common location (which may have permissions issues if needing to adjust configuration) you can also create the configuration file(s) in the home directory of each user, and they will each be able to fully configure CityEngine.
