When overwriting, it does not create a new feature service. The item stays the same in Portal and the web maps that contains the feature services will still continue to work. However, a word of warning when overwriting feature services. In the data frame properties, I recommend checking the box next to: "Allow assignment of unique numeric IDs for sharing web layers." This comes in handy when you want to add new layers to the feature service in Pro, and then overwrite the feature service. If you do not have this checked, your item ID's can potentially change and it will mess up the web maps that contains the feature services, and you will have to remove and re-add the feature service within the web map. You can avoid this by checking the box. With Portal (and ArcGIS Data Store), there can only be a primary and standby machine. The primary Portal machine replicates to the standby Portal machine. When the primary machine fails, the standby machine is promoted to primary. Server on the other hand supports active/active. If you are using Insights 2.3, then you shouldn't need to upgrade to 10.6 from 10.5.1 according to the compatibility table. However, do not upgrade to 10.6.1 as Insights does not support 10.6.1 yet (according to other forum threads). Insights 3.0 should support 10.6.1 (according to other forum threads). I contacted ESRI support and I was told that is was because of lack of resources (RAM) on the server that contains the EGDB. We added more RAM, but it did not resolve the issue. I did not contact ESRI after adding additional RAM. The only way we were able to resolve it is move the EGDB to a different server. It's possible that we still don't have enough resources or it could be a configuration issue with the server. Regardless, moving the EGDB to a different server solved the issue. ... View more

I've had an issue similar to this, except the URL would change to the machine name only under certain circumstances. The solution we found was to modify the web context URL as shown here. Hello Derek, Thank you for your response. Nothing should have changed. I just ran the installation media to upgrade ArcGIS Enterprise like I have done for previous upgrades without changing any of the settings. I've never set any of the CORS settings within Server or Portal before, so I'm not sure what the settings were before the upgrade. Hello Derek, When looking at the internet traffic, I get this message:  "No 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header is present on the requested resource." I have dealt with this message before. I know there is an option in Internet Explorer where I can enable access to data sources across domains, so this is something I can enable in IE (not sure how to do it in Chrome or Firefox right off, but I'll look into that). Is there a reason why all of a sudden this is happening after a server upgrade from 10.5.1 to 10.6? Even using an already created web app at 10.5.1, then using it now through the WAB developer edition, it no longer works (only when trying to edit app, the app itself works fine in view mode). Is there a setting within the server itself I can change to prevent this from happening, or is it only at the browser level? Thank you! ... View more
