Good afternoon, We are using the current working versions of the ArcGIS Maps plugin for both 64 bit versions of Office 2016 and Office 365. On the ESRI side, our servers are all at 10.8.1 and our Desktops are at 10.8.1 AM and 2.8.1 AGP. The tech I am working with now did have us do some tests in Fiddler and he is analyzing the files from that now.

So we have installed the ArcGIS for Office 64bit on my laptop. Installed the Portal Resources for ArcGIS Enterprise on our internal ArcGIS Enterprise server hosting our internal Portal and installs worked fine. I can start Excel, log into my Portal as my self or my Admin account, Add a Map to Excel, go to the My Content drop down and select My Organization to list all our Portal layers. I then can only add certain layers that are listed and they may or may not display in the map window. If I can add a layer, and then go to add a second layer, the second layer will never display so basically I am stuck to only have one layer displayed. Working with Tech Support for over an hour resulted in them having no ideas as to what the issue is. Anyone have any thought/ideas/suggestions by chance? Anyone else run into this issue by chance?? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Good afternoon, We are testing the schedule option for a model that needs to run within AGP every other Monday. While working on the model itself, we noticed there is not always a listing of the model run within the History tab from the Analysis ribbon, Geoprocessing section. Has anyone else run into this issue? We knew we ran the model earlier this a.m. but nothing appears when selecting the History tool from the Geoprocessing section of the Analysis ribbon. We have the model scheduled to run so are awaiting the results to see if anything actually shows up in the History pane. Thanks is advance for any ideas, thoughts or suggestions.

Hey Kory, I had a chance to discuss this with the analyst that found the issue and we walked through the process they would use daily and here is what we see. Sorry, not quite sure a way to record it, but I have a video of the steps as an MP4. I will detail in case the video does not work. A user will have a project open, and will add table data to their project from SQL. Let's use Traffic Incidents for this example. They run a query for only 2020 Traffic incidents. They open the table and see the selected records. They go to the upper right of the table on the 'hamburger' and select Export. The Export Table window opens as a floating window now. Input rows are the table data from SQL, TRAFFIC. Output Location, they need to save to a different location so click the browse folder option to navigate to a different location. When the Output Location opens, they click on the Databases folder on the left pane but it shows 'This container is empty' however you can see the Database connections on the Catalog pane on the right of the project. Why is the Output Location no longer showing the Database connections without having to go to the bottom of the window and use the Dropdown list option. Our users are stating this is what changed?? Now once you choose the Database options, you do see your DB and can select it. Previously, according to our users, you then, under Output Name, also had a drop down list that would allow you to browse that SDE workspace to select a previous table if you were going to overwrite a table which is frequently their option. Since no drop down, you are correct. They will need to think ahead and have the Catalog pane open and the Database connection open and expanded to see the existing table names, thus the extra steps. Thought they could drag and drop the table they wanted to overwrite but get an error on that method. If they copy the table name of the existing table, that gives the warning it is going to overwrite. The copy/paste seems to work. I think what is throwing everyone off is the pop out window now, and not from the Catalog Pane, and then having to use the drop down to select Databases. Just my best guess here.

Hey Kory, Thanks for the update. We seem to find new problems each week with the 2.6 update, so I will try to take another look at this today. I do remember working through this with one user who first realized it was no longer working, as previously, since the analysts use the export daily, all day. I believe, after looking through the documentation provided, it may be just a change to the way the tool is run from the previous 2.5.1 version, and not sure I have a machine with that version installed. Stand by.

Hey Dan, Thank you for the reply. Yes, those are the links to the documentation. However, it does not mention why these process windows have changed within the app for the user (pop ups now instead of working within an intuitive pane as before). What was a very simple to use option, now requires more steps to the user. So far, this 'update' has not made our users happy at all.

Anyone else experience this? I will use what we are sending out to our users as step-by-step instructions as to how you need to do this and other Geo Processing tools, unless we are really missing something. Seems like the the days of old. No one likes it and to be honest, seems like more steps and work on our users part to do what was so simple in 2.5.x and previous versions. Or, it's Friday and we are just missing something here With the new 2.6.0 update, you’ll now have to export a different way (and it’s a pain!) We are reaching out to ESRI to get an explanation on why this has changed and to let them know it’s not an ideal process. This is likely the new norm for a while at least. New steps: This first part isn’t necessary if you already know the exact name of your table that you’re overwriting, but if you’re like me and don’t remember if there is an underscore _ or not, then do this step to help you: • OPEN THE CATALOG PANE on the right and EXPAND ON YOUR DATABASE TO SHOW ALL YOUR TABLES. Leave this Pane docked on the right and move to the next step • Next, in your ATTRIBUTE TABLE, when you click the pancakes to EXPORT, an EXPORT WINDOW WILL POP UP (this is new, it used to be a pane on the right). • In the window, CLICK THE ‘OUTPUT LOCATION’ FOLDER ICON See image below: • CLICK ‘DATABASES’ ON THE LEFT (under project) and CHANGE THE DROPDOWN (bottom right of window pane) TO: ‘DATABASE CONNECTION FILES’, you should now see your workspace connection. • CLICK OK AFTER YOU SELECT/CLICK ON YOUR WORKSPACE, CLICK OKAY (then refer to last screenshot in this email for next steps) Normally you would double click your workspace and could see all your tables right there, and have the option to select a table to overwrite. With the update, the tables are no longer visible when you double click your workspace. What has changed is you now have to manually type in the table name. • Output Name: MANUALLY TYPE THE TABLE NAME (you don’t need any of the stuff before it, just the actual table name part). Click OKAY to run export. **If you want to create a new table, just type what you want the table name to be and it will create it as a new table- pretty simple**

While working to improve our locators, moving from AM to AGP locators, we have noticed that the abundance of options found in AM are no longer available in AGP (see pics below as just a few options no longer available), or we are just missing where to set these options. We have found that catering these settings have been a tremendous benefit when customizing locators for specific needs. However, due to “optimization” of the locators within AGP, nearly every setting possible within the AM Locators are gone. For example, when checking in with ESRI regarding the ability to set the Side Offset within the locator properties, it was that dreaded statement we end users hate to hear, “We’ve optimized the new locators and the default offset is 3m and there is no option to adjust the side offset. This setting will not be in the next release. I would encourage you to submit an enhancement request including a justification for the need or perhaps adding as an idea on GeoNet.” If it’s not broken, why fix it? We loved having the settings offered in AM and would love for ESRI to consider some of the major settings used by the end user to be returned to the locator property window. Thank you ESRI.

Thanks for the vote link. Guess I missed that one. Voted up now and as several mentioned, Map Notes is not the answer. Blessings, George A. Right now our biggest issue the learning curve of “where is everything” from our users. They will try it, not like it, and not use it. Icon styles were an issues so we downloaded some new styles from ESRI and that helped. A/C not being there is one of my two biggest complaints. The other is in using the Find tool in AM had a great work flow I used all day, every day after finding the address and then the right click option to add a point and then add a text box to that location. Not an option in AGP from what we are being told (see below from ESRI UC AGP Team this week). Right now, and we are just starting to work with importing our large MXD files into a new blank AGP Project, we are finding this extremely time consuming on the import and the projects are VERY slow to open if they have SDE connections. Here is the work flow for example in AM: Right click to add a call out text box, for example. Here are the steps in AM also and snap of what we are looking for in AGP: Take any AM .mxd Use the Find Tool to search an address using our own Address Locator, for example our ROADS locator From Find Window, select the Locations Tab, choose our ROADS locator, plug in the address in the Full Address line, hit Find. Our address appears From there you right click on the address in the Match_Addr and you have all the options on what to do. Where are these option in AGP?? From ESRI UC Pro Team in response to the above: “it’s not there. The reason is that the end result is graphic text (mostly) and graphics are not supported in Map Views in AGP. They’ve heard from many customers that they want graphics support so they are strongly leaning in that direction to implement – perhaps 2.3 (scheduled for end of the year)” Blessings, George A. Michael, That seems to be what I am seeing. We are fully SQL for all DB’s and SDE. The little work I have tried with our server connections in AGP has been very limited and what I have done has been much more difficult to navigate compared to working in AC. It may very well be the learning curve to move from a full AC app to the AC Pane in AGP but will take some getting used to. Our users do not like that area of AGP. Overall, AGP seems to be on the right track, but there is the learning curve and issues of things no longer available in AGP that were in AM or they are there partially or they are there but the work flow requires more steps?? We are also experiencing extreme slow response when in AGP and connecting to or working with our SQL connections, compared to AM for example. As and FYI, we are a Microsoft 7 Enterprise shop, 64bit, Arc 10.5.1/10.6 and AGP 2.2 running on Dell Workstations that have been upgraded to meet the GIS demands of the data we work with. I have been working with one of the ESRI Instructors on several AGP issues and had them check in with the Pro Team at UC this week regarding some of the problems we had with Pro. Here is and update from the AGP team regarding Arc Catalog: "there is no plan for an AGP equivalent for AC but in 2.3 they are implementing the start of AGP in “Untitled” mode meaning you don’t have to create a *.aprx initially just to start using AGP. So theoretically one could start AGP in Untitled mode, use the Catalog Pane to manage data, and close AGP without saving."
