Hello, I really hope someone can help me. I have been using the same code to export map series for some weeks and today I'm getting an error telling me that my syntax is invalid when exporting ms. p = arcpy.mp.ArcGISProject("Current") l = p.listLayouts()[2] if not l.mapSeries is None: ms = l.mapSeries if ms.enabled: ms = l.mapSeries indexLyr = ms.indexLayer arcpy.SelectLayerByAttribute_management(indexLyr, "NEW_SELECTION", "SA = 19 and AMA = 'A'") print("Exporting SA{} AMA-{}".format(currentSA, currentAMA) ms.exportToPDF(relpath + "\P19_MapAtlas_FGD_SA19_AMA-A_SCR.pdf", "SELECTED") File "<string>", line 12 ms.exportToPDF(relpath + "\P19_MapAtlas_FGD_SA19_AMA-A_SCR.pdf", "SELECTED") ^ SyntaxError: invalid syntax Why is my ms not valid? I've individually checked that each variable is pointing to the correct feature and I've tested the SelectLayerByAttribute as well, working great. It just does not want to export... Any ideas??

Thomas Colson, I have the same issue. My folder and item ids have mysteriously changed. The only changes I did was update some records in my external_choices tab, a process I've done a few times already without issue. Can you explain how you updated the ITEMINFO?

Hello, James Tedrick I am also having this issue. I've been updating the form for a couple days and collecting data. Today it just churns when I try to publish with latest edit. I have run the log file, attached. It is saying that my survey feature does not exist in the folder, but I've not moved it. Any ideas?

Here’s my Goal: Create a Map Series of Wall Maps that show polygon features labeled with their number ID and a corresponding table with some feature details and it's Reference Grid location (eg. "A4"). The purpose of the map is so that someone can call in and say “I need blah blah at feature #1234” and an employee can use the map to locate the feature quickly to get a better sense of the location of the request. See image below. Problem: The Reference Grid in the layout is static which means I have to create a grid feature class that is exactly the same dimension as the layout for each map series and perform a spatial join to get the Map Index number for each feature. This works when the Index layers don't overlap, but in my case they do! So using an iterate feature doesn't seem to work as it overwrites the last Map Index that was assigned to the feature. (ie Feature # 1234 shows on map #3 and map#4. Since it appears in a different location on each map, it will get assigned a different Map Index # and be overwritten by the most recent map). Does anyone have experience creating Reference Grid maps with corresponding Table Frames and any help/advice to share?? Really hoping to make this a script/model process so I can pass this off to other employees and reproduce consistently year after year. Thanks!

Yes, I've had to turn off the Map Series while I'm creating my Index, but that presents another issue which is that I cannot test my index as I create. I have to turn on, set parameters, turn off, create new index, turn on, set parameters, refresh index to see if it works in the layout, oops need to shift a few inches north to capture such and such at this scale, turn off, go to map view, edit, turn on, set parameters, etc etc etc..... This was extremely simple in ArcMap. Activate frame, edit, create shape, turn on index and set parameters, refresh, shift, refresh, perfect, done.

Thanks Tom, You are correct, but I'm not looking for an override, but simply the ability to pan around the map in Layout to create the index layer in the first place. At times it's hard to get the right frame around my area of interest when in Map View since I have side panels, etc in my layout that make my view smaller than the actual page size (eg 11x17). I get to my area of interest in the layout view then create the extent using a rectangle polygon tool to mimic the extent of the frame then set my scale, etc. Perhaps there is a better workflow that someone could suggest to me, but I find this works very well for non repetitive features that have no one feature that I can use as the index (ie polygon, point) but rather needs to have context in the map view for the viewer to understand the message/story of the map (ie rivers, landmarks, roads, etc).

I am working in ArcGIS Pro v2.3 and noticed that if I activate a Map Series in my Layout, I can no longer pan the Map by Activating nor use any of my bookmarks. This is extremely inconvenient as I use the Layout view to determine the extent of my Index in order to create the Map Series. Is this a bug and is anyone else experiencing this? If so, please correct in upcoming releases, thank you.

Thanks Jake Skinner. Unfortunately, still getting the same error. At this point it's not crucial, but a nice to have. I'll let you know if I figure it out. Thanks Jake Skinner. Might be a silly question, but how do I know which index number to put in? Is it based on where it is in my list of items in my specific folder/group/content? "2" didn't work for me, trying other numbers now.

Hi Jake Skinner, I'm getting a similar error. I've checked that my feature service is enabled for editing and have added the index to the end of the URL. Any ideas why I'm getting this error?
