The Chat widget connects to an XMPP chat server. You can stand one up for your organization to use, and then you will connect to it.

Sharing it with the organization doesn't make it appear in the Collector for everyone in that organization since Collector only shows content that is in "My Content" or "My Groups". The best way to share a map in Collector is to create a group in your organization, share the map with that group, and have your users who need the map be members of that group. Then they will see the map in Collector. Also, please use the Collector forum for additional questions on this app: this forum is for the Operations Dashboard for ArcGIS application.

Hi Ben -- I just saw you did share some content with me... however, it looks like it is the map and op views, but not the hosted services. Could you share the services with me as well so that I can try and repro?

Hi Hiran -- Could you give me some more information about the accounts you are and aren't seeing it with? Also, could you share a map, the services, and an operation view with me (kylie_org) where I might be able to repro this? The easiest way to share is create a group, share the items with the group, and invite my user to the group.

Following up on this... it looks like it was a network issue, as it couldn't be repeated on other networks. It is also fixed in version 10.2, which will be releasing soon.

Could you try setting your layer to be a static instead of dynamic (in the map widget configuration), and see if you still see the issue?

Just as an update: so far we found that adding the proxy line doesn't seem to fix the issue. It shouldn't cause the app to not open: tthere had been a typo in the config that resulted in that experience. Once the typo was fixed, the app again opens, but so far still doesn't save.

Could you try adding the line: <defaultProxy enabled="true" useDefaultCredentials="true"/> into your OperationsDashboard.exe.config file? Place it at the top of the <system.net> section. Your file will have: <system.net> <defaultProxy enabled="true" useDefaultCredentials="true"/> ? etc ? To your OperationsDashboard.exe.config file, run Operations Dashboard, and while it is running open Task Manager. In Task Manager, find OperationsDashboard (if you are on Windows 7, you need to find it in the Processes tab; on Windows 8 you can use the applications tab), right-click on it, and select ??Open File Location.? When that folder opens, you will see an OperationsDashboard.exe.config file. Open it in a text editor and add the line inside the <system.net> tag.

Username and password are case-sensitive, so make sure you have the correct case. Also, make sure you can log in using a browser to be sure the password you remember is correct. Another thing to check is that you are a member of an organization.

Thanks Peter for all your help through email as we figured this one out! Just to update the thread for others who come across the same problem, here is what addressed the issue: Updating the OperationsDashboard.exe.config file with the following line: <defaultProxy enabled="true" useDefaultCredentials="true"/> Details: To find the OperationsDashboard.exe.config file, run Operations Dashboard, and while it is running open Task Manager. Open it in a text editor. Add the line inside the <system.net> tag. This will leave you with the following section as part of your config file: <system.net> <defaultProxy enabled="true" useDefaultCredentials="true"/> ? etc ? This is something that will be in place by default with our next release.

Could you give me a bit more information about this? Is it crashing while you are authoring a view and adding the query widget? Or is it crashing while you are trying to use the query widget? Can you share the operation view where you are seeing the crash with me (ArcGIS.com user name kylie_org)? Thanks!

A great option for seeing what Operations Dashboard can do is to click "Try it now" from the sign in screen and use the sample operation views. There is a tutorial that steps you through trying it out: http://doc.arcgis.com/en/operations-dashboard/windows-desktop/user/monitor-and-respond-to-events.htm
