Hi Weng -- Did you check out this post: Take the same layer offline twice in Collector using feature layer views? Could you clarify for me what you mean by: > This was somewhat cumbersome as I have multiple copies of the dataset that I wanted to add to my offline map. Using a hosted feature layer view doesn't create a new copy of the dataset, but allows different uses of the same data. You also wrote: > the views that I create in Offline mode also does not update the parent feature layer after editing although it is coming from the same dataset. It doesn't seem to recognise any parent/child relationship Could you explain a bit here? What are you doing to create views in offline mode, or do you mean when you create features while offline? Could you explain the data you are using, and the parent/child relationship and which features you are making offline? Thanks, Kylie

I've posted a new blog about how you can Create assignments in the field with Workforce and Survey123. This is similar to my post about Creating assignments in the field with Workforce and Collector but shows how field workers can use Survey123 for ArcGIS to create assignments in the field. Whether your workers use Survey123 or Collector, the basic workflow is the same: create a view of the assignments for the mobile workers, make a map (for Collector) or a survey (for Survey123), give mobile workers access, and then create assignments using Collector or Survey123 in the field. Give the blog a read, then come here to discuss it.

Hi Shauna-Rae -- You should also see information about using basemaps on the SD card in the "Go offline" instructions, in the section Use basemaps on your device: Go offline—Collector for ArcGIS | ArcGIS. From the link you posted, it appears you were looking at the help for going offline with Windows, not Android, which takes different steps.

Hi Allison -- There are a lot of links throughout this post so please let me know if I answer about the wrong one. If you are talking about Dan's link on August 11, 2017, that goes to Go offline—Collector for ArcGIS | ArcGIS, there is information included about the specific directory that is required -- you need to put it in the ArcGIS_Collector folder. Thanks!

Hi Urban Corps -- Your screen shots show the attribute information for the features. Have you gone to the map and drawn the line or polygon? If not, that is why "No valid Length" and "No valid Area" shows. Tap on the map icon (between the camera and the gear) and draw your shape. Then you'll have a valid feature geometry and will be able to submit your line and polygon features. For some info on drawing the shape, check out the link that Adrian shared above.

I've posted a new blog about how you can Take the same layer offline twice in Collector using feature layer views. You might have a single layer of data that you need to add to a map multiple times (perhaps so that visibility can be toggled separately). In the blog, I show a way to take the same data offline multiple times in a single map, and have filters honored on each layer. Give the blog a read, then come here to discuss it.

Hi Robert -- Could you expand on that a bit for me? What would you want to use layer views for with your feature services? One of the biggest benefits that hosted feature layer views brings is different views into the same data, and you can get that today by publishing multiple feature services off the same underlying data. Is there something else hosted feature layer views bring that you'd want to see for your feature services?

Based on the version number you are using, it looks like you are on Android. There is a known bug with coordinate searches on Android.

Hi Joe! For a map to show up in Collector, there needs to be at least one editable layer. However, you can also include read-only reference data. Check out the "Reference data" section in Supported data—Collector for ArcGIS | ArcGIS for details. While some reference layers are only supported online, the majority are supported online and offline. A bit more info about what is required for offline data is in the "Data requirements" section in Prepare maps for offline use—Collector for ArcGIS | ArcGIS. I think the key to your question is that feature layers don't have to be editable, but do have to be sync-enabled in order to work offline.

I've written a blog about ways you can Control access to data in Collector through feature layer views. It talks about how you, as the admin of your data, might need to give different mobile workers different access to the same data. Perhaps they need different editing permissions or access to different attributes. You can use feature layer views to give them a customized view. Give the blog a read, then come here to discuss it.

I've shared a blog with tips to help you Increase efficiency going offline and syncing in Collector. It covers the Advanced Offline Options that let you, as the map author, specify if your users should download all features and their attachments, just features (without attachments), or nothing (no features) when going offline and syncing. This is just for the features you are retrieving from the server. No matter what you set in those options, the edits made in the field (features and attachments) are uploaded to the server on sync. Give the blog a read, then come here to discuss it.
