Thanks for the suggestions, we have already started to do the configuration file thing, i was just hoping there was a way to do it without maintaining multiple files. What if I put the application at wwwroot. COuld my urls to servcies be: ArcGIS/rest/servcies instead of: http://server/rest/services??

I would like to be able to manage my licenses using an AGS manager style interface. Such a manager should have license usage tracking, easy setup of license inactivity timeouts, and method to restrict certain licenses to certain groups.

Using the AGS Manager interface, I would like to be able to schdule a model to run at a set time. I have been attempting to do this with python as per the ESRI website, but it is cumbersome for someone not familiar with python. When I publish a geoprocessing tool, it would be really nice if one of the tabs in the service properties was for schedule.

As part of the add field dialog, one option should be to pre-populate the entire field with a value.

Is there any way to automatically clear the field crew log feature class so it doesnt get too big? I was thinking model that would delete all rows periodically. What about the mobile unti itsefl. We have Trimble Juno SBs. Simon

My organization has just started with FLEX as a development language and we seem to be doing pretty well. Our issue has to do with access. When we add operational layers, we have been adding them as internal address: http://servername.domain.local/arcgis/rest/services/roads/MapServer Our web server sits inside our firewall (a DMZ is not an option) but our IT dept has set up the firewall so that a public IP is directed to the web server. This public IP now has a url: http://gis.domain.com/arcgis/rest/services/roads/MapServer The problem is that when we do this, internal staff cannot see the operational layers (the base map is from Bing) because the firewall prevents this, one solution we have come up with is to alter the host file on every individual PC. The problem is that we have a LOT of PCs and this app will be used internally AND by the public. Do people have any suggestions as to alternative ways of achieving our goal. We have already tried setting it to localhost to no avail. Simon

Thanks for the reply, just making sure. Just having some issues with compiling right now, says unable to open 'locale/en_US'. Although, I should point out this happens when I try to compile with your widget too, so I will just keep researching. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into helpign the flex community!!

You need to use a feature service. If you have the editor widget enabled in your application an dyou don't want to have some layers editable, you can go into the service properties and turn on editing but leave query turned on. The problem I have foudn is that this causes each layer you list as a feature layer to be listed in the map switcher. So I published the service twice. Once just as a mapserver and once with both map and feature enabled. The second service has all the symbology set to no color and is excluded from the map switcher widget. This is not a very elegant solution, but this particular configuration only has a handful of layers, so this solution may not work for you.

Joshua, You might want to dig a little deeper into the viewer. Yes, it is "beta", but all the functionality you are asking for (except for the Identify) is already there. 1) "widgets that loaded and lined up on the page without piling up on each other" - Look at the <widgetcontainer> tag in the config files. You can specify horizontal, vertical, float, or fix the widgets at specific locations on the viewer. Much more flexible then before. 2) Hyperlink tool - It's there in the Search and Query widgets. Just add the link field to the xml file. 3) Zoom Previous - Add "<navtool label="Zoom Previous" icon="assets/images/i_zoomprevious.png" menu="grpNav">zoomprevious</navtool>" to the ClassicController.xml file and you have it. 4) The red_glow.swf is there to use if you want. Personally, I hate the thing so I'm glad it's not the default anymore. If you really need the Identify now, you can always develop it using the samples other people are putting on the forums or cannibalize from the queryFeaturesGraphical portion of the Search widget. That or just wait a few weeks. I'm sure ESRI will get the remaining widgets out soon. -Keith We have been using the infopopup widget as an identify tool na dthe feedback we have got is that our users prefer to the need to click a widget before identifying.
