This is crucial to one of our workflows as well. Our user would like to be able to stream a line as they walk for linear mileage on a trail but then add discrete points for things like "drain cleared" or "steps" or "rock work" or "tree felled" etc... all at the same time. No starting and stopping the stream to collect each point. That's not an option.

I Have a webmap that I can successfully use offline with Collector. Up until today, I was using the standard esri Imagery with Labels basemap. My offline areas were created just fine. Today, I switched that basemap with my own ArcGIS Server based web-mercator tiled image basemap for our county. The web map comes up just fine in AGOL, the settings for the map still show that it's good to go for offline use but when I go manage may offline areas, that new basemap layer doesn't get added to the offline area, only my points, lines and polys layers (operational layers) are in there. Can't I use my own basemap tiled layer hosted through my own ArcGIS Server for offline areas? If so, what am I missing with that? x (x)

Indeed. Thanks Russell. Not only is it "not intended" to be used for offline it's not possible. Drat. x (x)

Does the Clarity layer (as a basemap) not work with web maps offline in Collector? If I choose the regular esri imagery layer as my basemap, the webmap can be set for offline use. If I choose the Clarity basemap, the offline capabilities go away. What am I doing wrong? x (x)

Ok, your analysis and feedback helped solve it. I went into my web map with the three hosted feature layers freshly added in, set the symbology to the field/unique values that I want... started editing and noticed I had the "feature template" type view of the layers (good so far)... I then clicked the "manage" button and noticed that the "save changes" at the bottom was enabled... I clicked that for each of the three layers... didn't do any modifications to the templates, just clicked that "save changes". That has done what you describe and my layers are now showing up in Collector with the feature template functionality enabled. What's odd is that when I go look at the json for the web map and the json for the individual feature layers, I don't see anything special or different about their definitions. Clearly something got triggered and set with that feature template "save changes" stuff but darned if I can see what that actually is in terms of the json definitions. Oh well, live and learn. Thanks for your time and help. x (x)

I must be adding these hosted feature layers to my web map wrong. I see the option to "add to web map with full editing control" for the individual hosted feature layers and when I do it that way, I do see the feature template in the Collector map. However, I have three hosted feature layers that I want to add to my web map with this full editing control ability. How do I add all three when that "full editing control" option adds each layer to it's own new map? The way I made my map before, where I was seeing the templates in the web map but not in Collector was... I opened a new web map with nothing but a basemap in it. Then I went to the "add" menu and searched for layers and added my three hosted feature layers. I then symbolized each layer based on the field/unique values. Is there an option via that method to turn on the full editing control? x (x) x (x)

Thanks Erika. I'm seeing all that except for in the new Collector app, I don't see the actual feature templat-ized form that I see in the web map in AGOL. If I use "Collector Classic" I DO see the data in its feature template form. Are you using the new Collector? x (x)

I've got a web map with hosted feature layer symbolized on a certain field... when I start editing that web map, I see a pick list of features I can create and add to the map based on that "feature template", similar to how feature templates work in ArcGIS Pro and Arcmap. The old Collector app seemed to honor this setup making it easier for users to add new features. When I try to create new features in the new Collector app, I only get the generic feature to add, then I have to go in and assign it the value for that field from the drop down list. Is this a bug? Not implemented yet but will? Thanks, Royce

I've got a web map that has line and polygon hosted feature layers. My customer would like fields in each of those layers for feet and miles in the line layer and acres in the polygon layer to be auto populated as the features get created or updated. I'm stumped as to how to accomplish this. Or, at the very least... fields that he can manually calc when the data comes in from the field. I see there is shape__length for the lines and shape__area for the polygons but the values for those (presumably in meters and square meters) don't seem accurate or right when I compare them against the web map measure tool. As well, I'm not sure how to get the values for those fields to auto populate these other user defined fields. I can see how to create a custom arcade expression to show various things in the popups but that isn't the same as actually calculating fields and then showing those values. I see that there is some new functionality in Pro called "attribute rules" that can do this sort of thing... is that extended to AGOL hosted feature layers? And how about Collector? Where does that fit into the mix? Thanks much. x (x)

Some things to consider. Attribute Rules and Contingent Values (currently implemented via ArcGIS Pro and shared, if need be via hosted web layer in ArcGIS Enterprise)... These seem to be two new "data design" areas that esri is making investments. These things occur at the data level so theoretically this is app agnostic (should work in Collector). I'm currently trying to test these via a 10.7 ArcGIS Enterprise implementation but am running into issues with offline/sync enabling Attribute rules. In any event, this looks very promising and the tests I've run so far look like game changers. Things like "if I enter this value 'x', make the value there 'y'" or "when I create a new feature populate the InpsectionDate field with today's date" or "this is a sequential field... when I add a new feature calc the value of this field to the last number in the sequence + 1". All this done via Arcade expressions. Contingent Values is more of the smart pick-list thing. If I choose 'x" in this list, then only show values of x,y,z in this other list. This stuff has been A LONG TIME coming and I can't wait to start redesigning our processes and systems to take advantage of these features. x (x)

The official answer is that this is a limitation of the way exported data is handled by Portal. The user needs to be able to create and own content for the time it takes to do the export. There is an internal "enhancement" record on file, so esri knows about it and is working on it. x (x)

I've setup ArcGIS Enterprise 10.7 pre-release and am confused about one key piece of functionality. I'd like anonymous users to be able to use the "export data" capability for hosted feature layers. It doesn't appear that Portal allows this. If I sign is as a "creator" with "publisher" role, I see the "export data" option. If I log in as a viewer with viewer role, I don't see it. I've searched through the docs and don't see any info on what allow that option to be visible or not. I have checked the "allow users to export data" option for the hosted feature layer and that doesn't seem to have any effect. Anyone know what's going on here?

I've tried to install the Data Store 10.7 pre-release windows software several times now but can't get the config web page to display anything after install is complete. It's just a blank white web page. I do notice in the dev tools network console that I get a 404 error on a "css-load.js" file. What's going on? I've tried the default localhost url as well as the machine name:2443 url with same results. Thanks, -Royce

I've got a web map (public shared) that I'm trying to embed in my website as an iframe, per the web map "share" dialog in AGOL. When I try to view it, it comes up for a second or so and then goes away with the following error: Load denied by X-Frame-Options: https://lcoem.maps.arcgis.com/home/signin.html?returnUrl=https%3A//lcoem.maps.arcgis.com/apps/Embed/index.html%3Fwebmap%3D57b8960255194690a002b903e0cc985f%26extent%3D-106.6324%2C40.1133%2C-103.7595%2C41.1471%26home%3Dtrue%26zoom%3Dtrue%26previewImage%3Dfalse%26scale%3Dtrue%26search%3Dtrue%26searchextent%3Dtrue%26legendlayers%3Dtrue%26basemap_gallery%3Dtrue%26disable_scroll%3Dtrue%26theme%3Dlight does not permit framing. I just started getting Open Data all setup with the singular hope of allowing fGDB downloads and am stopped dead in my tracks. All my data is coming from feature services via ArcGIS Server on my local premises. Esri, really? Do you have plans to open this up to ArcGIS Server services?
