No I haven't found a solution yet. My workaround for now is to revamp my mxd with no group layers. I plan on coming back to it when I get some other issues worked out. Melissa

I am trying to configure the Identify Widget and have some questions. The problem I am having is when I identify, I guess the way the tool works any and all visible layers show the identify results. It appears these are operational layers and basemap layers. Is there some way similar to the <excludelayer> in the LayerList Widget to prevent some some layers from showing up in the results? Am I doing something wrong? I also found that if I do a locate using the Locate widget, and the Identify widget is still open, the new search criteria (address) comes up as the title in the pop-up, but the info under it stays from the previous "identify" session. Thanks again for posting your code...the new Identify hyperlink functionality is GREAT! Melissa

Thanks Robert! I have Googled the asp.net webservices for tutorials and had problems with them. I am using the Visual Studio express 10 and haven't been successful following the instructions in them without getting errors. I will keep looking. thanks again. Melissa

I know using just Flex there is no way to link to SQL Server but I was hoping to get some dialog going from the experts out there on the best and easiest way to do this. I have my Flex Viewer 2.1 and want to pass my parcel ID to SQL Server to return additional records. Questions (Opinions): Which is the easiest to learn for beginners? Which method returns data fastest and taxes the server the least? I am looking to take a class to learn how to do this (I wish ESRI had a class that explained connecting databases when building web mapping apps). I am not sure which service type I should use. In Flex you can use Blaze, Cold Fusion, HTTP, LCDS, PHP, Web Service or XML to connect to data services. Maybe there are others out there as well. If anyone has experience with any of these good or bad some advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! Melissa

Good to know it isn't just me this time. I would think the ability to keep group levels in the layer list would be very basic functionality users would need. Too bad... Thanks as always! Melissa

I may not have stated the problem well...it is difficult to describe. I want all of my layers to be visible in the layer list and want them to stay in the Groups I set up in the mxd, so if I turn on and click the arrow to expand the Water Utility Group, and only Manholes are checked, that is the only layer that should come on. The way it is behaving now, when I check to turn on the Water Utility group, a check is showing up in all of the layers in that group instead of that action just turning on the ones in that group that are checked by default in my map service. That action of checking any group layer is also causing all other sub-layers within the Group layers that are set to be on by default to turn on (it is respecting those layers default on/off settings). Its as if it were ignoring the Group status of being unchecked completely. I am wondering how many group layers and grouping levels you can use in the layer list (either in the MapSwitcher Widget or in the LayerList Widget and if there is some way to make them follow the levels set in the mxd.

I am trying to get my Layer List working properly and have run into a problem. My dynamic map service has several group layers. When they come up in the Layer List the levels are not working as I would expect. For example, if I turn on a group level (for example Water Utility, all of the layers for levels under that (even those in other groups) turn on. How do I fix the grouping levels so that they follow the way they are in the mxd. When I turn on Water Utility, I want the only the levels turned on by default in the map service to turn on and the user can check those not on by default if they want additional layers on. When I uncheck the group, the layers stay on??? Also how many grouping levels with the Layer List support? Any insight would be appreciated! Thanks, Melissa

I am also looking for an identify widget for my 2.0 viewer. If anyone could point me in the right direction to locate one it would be much appreciated. Will this be included in 2.1?

Found that problem, was missing the gotourl function, but I am also having the issue with the ESRI website and my web link opening when my own logo is clicked now.

I am having issues trying to replace the powered by esri logo also. My error is 1120:Access of undefined property gotoMyURL in mapmanager.mxml. I am working with the flex viewer 2.0. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Melissa

I am using all of my own map services, no esri services. The address locator finds the address and zooms in, just not to the correct spot. We have not upgraded ArcGIS Server to 10 yet (it is going to be soon though) and I know some of the functionality of the 2.0 Flex viewer won't work with 9.3.1. Is that address locator something that I can't use in 2.0 unless I am at 10?
