If you want the buffer to appear in the print then go to the "Edit default buffer properties" and choose "Add the buffer layer to the maps legend" Okay thanks. I tried that but found the buffer graphic was still turning off when the eSearch widget is closed but now I see that if I open the layer list and turn off the buffer graphic an then turn it on again, it will stay then on.

After creating a buffer, is it possible to leave the buffer graphic on screen when the widget closes so that it can be printed by the print widget? Is it possible to have it create a buffer graphic without selecting any features if a user just wants to show a buffered area?

Another way to turn off the logo is to go into the config.json file and look for the "mapOptions" item and add "logo" : false, -- it is on line 236 in mine but could be anywhere. The original code will look something like this: "mapOptions": { "extent": { "xmin":-13640110.909870049, "ymin":5954211.294452187, "xmax":-13479287.402357975, "ymax":6073758.806690248, "spatialReference":{ "wkid": 102100} } } Change to: "mapOptions": { “logo”: false, "extent": { "xmin":-13640110.909870049, "ymin":5954211.294452187, "xmax":-13479287.402357975, "ymax":6073758.806690248, "spatialReference":{ "wkid": 102100} } }

Nicely done Rickey! it is really fast and works well. Your code is nicely organized and easy to read, too. I like how you have used a dynamic service for your base map so that users can zoom in much closer than is typical with a tiled base map. The only thing I noticed that I'd like to mention is that I can zoom in further with the aerial photo than the base map, so if I zoom way in first with the aerial on and then switch to the basemap it doesn't draw anything unless I zoom out a little. Great work!

There is a way to avoid the secured services sign in. Create an item in ArcGIS Online (or Portal) that points to your secured service. Choose "Add Item from web" and then enter the URL of your secured service. It will detect that it is a secured service and ask you for credentials and then if you want it to save those credentials. Tell it to save the credentials, then save the item (it will be a "Map Image Layer"), then share it with the appropriate group. Then go your your web map, choose "add" then "search for layers" (not 'add layer from web') and add the item you just created. Now when you access the web map via Collector, it will log into the secured service for you.

I have just made an interesting discovery that just makes me more confused. Using my same IE11 and the same Yakmia measure tool demo site we've been discussing I just found out that if I change my "document mode" to either IE8 or IE9, then the site will load without giving me that access denied error, but when it is in IE10 or the default EDGE mode, then I get that error. huh? I assume this is the result of some group policy our IT group has pushed, but I still don't understand this at all.

I know it is a really strange problem, but I am surprised that so few other people have it. I assume it is something related to CORS restrictions. When I try to access your site, for example, the console says "Access Denied" to https://yakima.maps.arcgis.com/sharing/portals/self?f=json&dojo.preventCache=1429730627189 But when I put that URL directly into IE URL bar, it accesses that URL no problem and shows the JSON response. So it isn't that the URL is blocked or I don't have the right permissions, it is IE saying it won't access the URL within the application. BTW I'm using IE11, no compatibility mode

That is a good observation though I think the main thing I need to understand is what causes that "access denied" error when making the call to the sites ArcGIS Online for Organizations site.

We have found that many sites built with the WAB do not work or us in Internet Explorer. The version doesn't matter, it can fail in IE 9, 10 and 11. In IE, we just get a white screen and the app doesn't load. Looking at the http traffic, there are no failed requests. But looking at the console we see the attached "Access denied" messages that refer to <name>.maps.arcgis.com. The sites always work for us in Chrome an FF. When we were first developing and testing WAB applications on our intranet, we found that some of us had to add the intranet server to IE's "Trusted sites" list in order or it to work. When we published out first WAB app on the internet (http://gismaps.kingcounty.gov/iMap) we found we had to add that server to IE's trusted sites list in order for it to work for us, but only when using our work computers on our work network. We can connect to a public network using the same browser and computer and the site would work. Now we get emails from some members of the public saying they are getting nothing but a white screen, while others seem to have no problem. It seems to me that there is some combination of IE security settings and perhaps our firewall that causes this. We've been telling people to try adding our site to their "trusted sites" list, but that is not only annoying but also not possible for many people who have an IT department that prevents them from changing their own settings. Plus that solution only works on a site by site basis, it doesn't solve the larger issue. I'd like to know if other people have this problem and if anyone can help to figure out a solution. Here are some of the sites that do not work for us in IE on our network, but work fine in Chrome and FF (and in IE from home). In each case I can see that access denied error in the IE console. Please note we have *.ArcGIS.com in our trusted sites list. http://www.tapasdas.com/Maps/Phones/app29/ https://gis.yakimawa.gov/measure/ http://gis.hamiltoncounty.in.gov/mapviewer/index.html http://gis.calhouncounty.org/WAB/V1.1/widgets/ElevationProfile/index.html# http://gis.calhouncounty.org/WAB/V1.1/widgets/eSearch/

No, I don't think so. The MXDs have to reside in a folder on the server I order for the print task to be able to access them, and uploading MXDs is not supported in AGO.

I'm very interested in having a better print tool solution. I don't think it would be possible to use a third party browser add-on like Lightshot though. I doubt that JavaScript in a page can control an add-on -- plus you'd have to get the user to install it before you could use it.

Ok, I understand. Thanks. I will also second the request to have a per-query option to enable "show results in attribute table". It doesn't make sense for some queries, especially the ones where the user chooses a single value from a drop down list. It is a great feature, but would be even better if was optional. Michael

Robert, I have a question. When I configure my links in eSearch to be displayed with my results, I choose for them to be displayed as text links, but the results tab still shows them as image links, which are difficult to see. what can I do to get text links in the result panel? Thanks, Michael

That's right, Rebecca, we have built a WAB application using several of the widgets that are here on your list. Currently we are implementing the url tracker, eSearch, Google StreetView, and an enhanced measure tool. Our users are pretty happy with most of these tools but the enhanced measure tool is not working out so well. Because it only displays the measurements as text on the screen, if a user draws more than a couple of line segments (or short segments) then it becomes very hard to read, plus there is no way to copy the measurement text to your clipboard. The Esri measure tool is very simplistic, but it is easier to use and easier to see your measures. The enhanced measure tool has so many drawing tool options that many users look at it and don't know what to do to measure. We had also started to use the eDraw widget, but we got inconsistent results with it and removed it. Text was the biggest problem. If you place more than one piece of text it would often continue to add the first text, and if you try to edit the text after it is placed, we had to save twice in order to see the change. It has many great features and we hope it can be fixed so that we can offer it once again.

Was that original issue only with IE or all browsers? We have found that when we deploy a WAB app to IIS, we have to add that server to IE's "Trusted Sites" list or it wont load the site. We have problems using IE to view WAB based sites that are shared here on GeoNet too.
