You have to put code in the code blocks in the html editor, select the # tool from the message posting toolbar, paste your code and the proper indentation will be maintained as in this nonsence example
names = ["Obi", "Bob", "Billy"]
for name in names:
if name == "Obi":
print name, "is ", True, "a", "Jedi master"
else:
print name, "is not a Jedi master"
don't forget to copy, compile and run the script to see if it works 🙂

I would also caution people that are using/transitioning to V10 of ArcMap and arcpy that case-sensitivity is an issue, so sloppy case is to be avoided and one should consult the appropriate online help files for the versions of ArcGIS that you are using

well we both missed the glitch...Con != con as an example Con("grid1" < 2, 0, Con("grid1" < 3, 1, ("grid1" - 1) / 4.0)) worked for me with my sample expression Con("grid1" < 2, 0, con("grid1" < 3, 1, ("grid1" - 1) / 4.0)) failed In 10, one needs to be aware that expressions are case sensitive as well as space sensitive

If you examine the tools in arctoolbox and see a Python example, then the answer would be yes, if not, then I would say no, and I haven't seen any reference to arcscan within arcpy
