Each person has their own preferences, however, the quality of the debugging capabilities might depend upon how well one writes code. Often, Notepad works fine for me.

I don't know if the software accounts for the fact that the summer solstice isn't a fixed date and time but occurs within a small range about the average. How significant is the difference? Could it be a terrain artifact? Do you get similar results when calculating values for a uniform flat surface?

I hate to state the obvious, but are the X, Y and Z values in meters (or at least the same units)? or are the X,Y coordinates in decimal degrees?
