What type of method are you proposing to do this? There are few/no tools available that don't produce point distributions based upon a specific pattern (ie random, circular, grid, linear etc)

If that is all you have, then you don't have much to go on. To do an intersection you need spatial information. Does these data come from some source of linear referencing?

don't know if it has been approved but no issues other than copying code blocks from the GeoNet site...ArcMap has no issues that I have detected...besides IE 8 and 9 were quite some time ago

From my reading, the with statement handles the appropriate start operations so you second line is superfluous as shown in Example 1

do you really need global coverage? How many areas do you have of local coverage? perhaps just working with those would be better and provide a means of linking to the more detailed coverage

your polyline appears to be meters or degrees. Do not use unprojected data when determining buffers unless you want to calculate geodesic buffers which should be oval. Project your data if you want to work in Euclidean space

So what you are saying is that your Z values should be either X or Y or a calculated value using them, depending upon the orientation?

if you collected coordinates via a gps without changing the gps settings, then they should be in a WGS 84 coordinate system, however, it looks like you didnt clear out the waypoints prior to collecting the data and exporting the file since at least one of the coordinates is in a different hemisphere. I would revisit the procedure that you used to get the data into a shapefile before proceeding
