We are currently building this capability but it is not available now. You can, however, download as a shapefile currently or use the analysis tools to extract a file geodatabase, but the synchronization would have to be done manually. Thanks, Mike

Things have changes a bit over the last 2 years when this thread was started. You can publish a feature service (hosted or ArcGIS Server) which allows symbology changes. A dynamic map service running on ArcGIS Server allows symbology changes A static map service, when accessing individual layers, allows symbology changes. In this case, you would specify the URL down to the layer index when adding to a web map (www.xxx.com/arcgis/rest/services/someservice/0). Uploaded Shapefiles, CSV and GPX files. Thanks, Mike

Vijay, We don't support adding images, like png, directly to the web map. We do support adding images to "My Content" if you have a subscription, however, these images aren't georeferenced, but rather a picture. The only way to display image data in the web map is to create a web service from arcgis server. Thanks, Mike

Are you the owner of the map service? Check the maximum number of features that can be returned in a query. You may be exceeding that maximum when zoomed out to the full extent. The way you've coded your app, you're accessing the layers of the map service as features. The system sends a query to the server to get the feature geometry, which is then sent to the client to draw. The server has a limit on the number of features that can get returned in a given request. Is there a reason why you are accessing the map service in this way? Your app would be faster, probably, if you access the map service as a whole and allow the server to return an image instead of the features. Thanks, Mike

The URL you provided in your first post contains a security token. These tokens expire. Just remove the token from the URL, and the system should authenticate off your current signed in account. https://xxxxxx.arcgis.com/sharing/rest/content/items/c27d947c8e15477c8ca754104eb1c2a6/data?token=0_X1Gpzz-18KEQNUvDUtmRPTFfqdk29RTT0MCNfiHMLnPcDIPF3rF2wL0o0AwoMDSmP5KLzmzr4PflQJXdEAb9xE_NCfpb4804aNoU5mVe_z Thanks, Mike

There should be no difference between load times of the default vs custom basemap gallery. My guess is that the Esri basemap gallery has been cached in your browser, and thus, it always seemed fast. Try aggressively clearing your browser cache and see if the Esri basemap gallery loads with the same speed as you're seeing on the first load of your custom one. Thanks, Mike

Jeff, we would need more information in order to reproduce the problem. It may be related to the size of the data, permissions, or the type of data being published. This would be a difficult problem to debug through the forums. I suggest you contact Esri Technical Support. Thanks, Mike

No there is nothing new in this area. As I understand it, we do support layer transparency, but not feature level transparency. There are no plans to support feature level transparency. You can promote the idea at ideas.arcgis.com. Thanks, Mike

No we don't document the algorithms we use. What exactly are you trying to achieve? We use the stemming model for keyword searches, but results are weighted, effectively, by popularity. There isn't really a way to promote items to the top of the list. Thanks, Mike

There are a few possible reasons why consolidation fails. These are the most common reasons we have seen. Low disk space. Change your staging path. License doesn??t support copying data. For example, you try and consolidate (which is copying) data like a network or a terrain and you don??t have the appropriate license level. Thanks, Mike

Service names have to be unique across a subscription. So my guess is someone else in your organization has already created a service with that name. Try renaming yours. Thanks, Mike

You are accessing a hosted feature service right? Did you enable the Sync option? As I understand it, there may be a bug in Desktop here. The desktop team is investigating it and would make any fix available in a service pack release. Is it possible for you to share your service so we can reproduce the problem? Maybe giving us the steps you used to create it would help... On the ArcGIS.com side, we are working on exporting directly from the website to a FGDB, which would contain the attachments. Scheduled for release at this point, by the end of the year. Thanks, Mike
