So you have added a link to a service running on your ArcGIS Server, but you are unable to edit the item details for that item you added? Are you having the same trouble editing the description of any other items? I'd try clearing your browser cache first to see if that clears things up. If not, can you share a link to the item? Thanks, Mike

Your WMS service doesn't display for me in the Map Viewer. The URL to the service appears to be an internal URL. This is probably why Explorer Online can't view the WMS service. Your web browser is inside your firewall and able to resolve the URL for the Map Viewer. Explorer Online is a silverlight plugin and requires all services be accessible from the open web. Your WMS doesn't appear to be. Is it a viable alternative to add the REST endpoint of the service instead of the WMS endpoint? This URL will work when added as an ArcGIS Server service. http://map.miamiconservancy.org/ArcGIS/rest/services/MCDFloodProtection/MapServer To see the problem with your WMS service, check out the capabilities file for it: http://map.miamiconservancy.org/ArcGIS/services/MCDFloodProtection/MapServer/WMSServer?SERVICE=WMS&REQUEST=GetCapabilities Notice that the URL for GetMap is: <Get> <OnlineResource xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" xlink:type="simple" xlink:href="http://mcdvgis/ArcGIS/services/MCDFloodProtection/MapServer/WMSServer"/> </Get> 'mcdvgis' appears to be an internal server name. Hope this helps, Mike

It should be the same login as ArcGIS Server Manager, or specifically a member of the agsadmin group (for ArcGIS Server for .NET). Another option is to reset the web browser with iisreset for IIS, or restart tomcat. thanks, Mike

When did you download the template? I believe it was updated in the last month or so to include a feature that will allow a user to authenticate themselves. There is a new identity manager that does this. http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/javascript/arcgis/help/jssamples/widget_identitymanager.html Hope this helps, Mike

Secure ArcGIS Server services are now supported in the map when you add the layer directly to the map. From the map, click Add, then click Layer from the web. Enter the URL to the ArcGIS Server service and click OK. You'll be prompted to enter a username and password. This web map can then be referenced from a template and the user will be prompted to enter the username and password. This is supported with ArcGIS Server 10 sp1 and later. Hope this helps, Mike

You have to clear the rest endpoint cache. http://gismanagerdev.rco.wa.gov/ArcGIS/rest/admin Login and clear the cache. Hopefully that clears things up for you. Thanks, Mike

If you have an attribute field in your data that provides a URL, the URL will display as a hyperlink in the popup window. Clicking the link will open the URL in a new browser tab/window. If you wanted to display a thumbnail of your image in the popup, it would need to be hosted on the web already. ArcGIS Online doesn't store images. You could then reference the thumbnail image, as described in this post. http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/42799-Adding-images-from-file-to-pop-ups Thanks, Mike

Your service appears to have no layers in it. If you look at the URL to the service, there are no layers listed. http://gismanagerdev.rco.wa.gov/arcgis/rest/services/BobsFY2012_RankedProjects/MapServer Can you verify that your service is working correctly? Thanks, Mike

Can you provide the URL to your map service so we can look at it? Alternatively, if you've created a web map that contains it, share the web map with everyone and then post the URL to it here. thanks, Mike

Justin, The iPad app crashes when I try to display a popup window. I'll pass it along to the appropriate team here. The only workaround I can suggest is to use the Safari browser...However, I did notice that we're not able to scroll the contents panel and you have a lot of layers. We'll have to work on that as well. Thanks, Mike

Unfortunately, you can't display image attachments inside the popup window. What you can do, as you found in the doc, is you can check the box when configuring the popup window to display links that represent your attachments (see attached image). When you click on this link in the popup window, the browser will download the attachment to your computer. We do want to support the ability to view attachments in the popup window. We just haven't done so yet. Thanks, Mike

If you are running IE7 or 8, perhaps you can upgrade to IE9. IE9 performs better in our experience. IE7 and 8 don't work well when adding data (like shapefiles) directly to the map. If you can't switch browsers, and you have access to ArcGIS Server, make services out of your data instead. This doesn't put the load on the web browser to do the work. We will be doing two things to better support IE 7 and 8 in the future. One, we will be able to host services for you through a subscription to ArcGIS Online. Two, we will be implementing support for the Google Chrome Frame plugin to IE6, 7 and 8. This essentially runs the google chrome browser inside IE. Google Chrome Frame support will be in our next release in December. You will need to install Google Chrome Frame and enable it so it can work. http://code.google.com/chrome/chromeframe/ Thanks, Mike

We'll have to take a look. Can you share the URL to your map? Also, are you running the ipad application or just using the Safari browser? I think you're using the app. You might try simply using the browser too... Thanks, Mike
