Sarah Wallace I don't think this ended up where you intended.

I saved a map document in my templates folder to begin using it as a template as instructed in this help document. When I create a new mxd based on this landscape oriented template it opens with the page setting as portrait. If I open one of the prepackaged landscape templates it opens as landscape. Am I missing a setting somewhere? Thanks for any input.

I am a big fan of the Attribute Assistant. I agree with a previous poster that the documentation could be beefed up a bit especially with the EXPRESSION method. It took me a while to figure out how to configure the add in but once I did I started using it in most of my data entry workflows. I wouldn't say I am pushing any envelopes with it but I have saved hours of typing and stopped numerable errors from getting into my layers. I primarily use GENERATE_ID, TIMESTAMP, CURRENT_USER, NEAREST_FEATURE, LAST_VALUE and PROMPT. Best add-in to come out of Esri.

The Attribute Assistant add-in can help you automate that. I guess it depends on how often you are going to be doing this and how many points (I am assuming you are creating address points.) you will be creating. If it is a lot of points it may be worth the time to figure out how the Attribute Assistant add-in works. I use it all the time to make data entry easier. Once you figure it out you start seeing other ways to use it. The Attribute Assistant comes with most of the map templates for the Local Government Information Model. Try the Address Data Management map template. That map is intended to be used for new development and new addresses. The idea is you create a road centerline enter the ranges for that segment and then start creating site address points. The add-in fills in the house number and the street name and then concatenates them into a full address field. For your needs I think you could use the GENERATE_ID method - setting the low address in the GENERATEID table and the increment value, then in the DynamicValue table create a line for your house number field and use the GENERATE_ID for the value method.

I just fixed it in the map rather than try to make it work. Most of the layers came across fine except the water bodies so it wasn't too much trouble to just fix it.

There was a post a few years ago about spiral curves and Tim Hodson replied asking how much interest there would be in Esri providing this capability. Apparently there wasn't enough interest at the time. From what I read on that post some folks are just using the chord in place of the spiral curve. But to do that you would still need to be able to calculate where the spiral ends. I bought a couple of the ebooks at this site and I am able to calculate the endpoint of the spiral using the formulas, but not quickly or easily. What would be nice is if there were a tool that would calculate the chord bearing and the chord length of the spiral curve at least until Esri can get the capability into the traverse grid.

We have a railroad that crosses our county as well as several older highways that use spiral curves. I would really like the ability to enter them. We have them in old descriptions and new descriptions. Here are some examples

That looks like it is a tax map not the original plat? If it is something that splits those properties you may be able to find the curve info in a deed? Or if it is an administrative boundary for your assessment purposes you could create a new parcel and right click with the construction tool and make sure the "Digitize Mode" is checked, digitize the lines going into and out of the curve - start near number 7 digitize the line heading west to the point of tangency and then delete the autofilled number in your next line in the grid (probably 2) and digitize the other line starting from the west from La Veta Dr, then you can digitize a line straight across to the endpoint of your first line. That last line would give you your chord bearing and chord length - you would have to start experimenting with radius values until you are satisfied, but it will probably be between the two radii of the right of way curves. I hope that makes sense.

This is a great tool but I think it might be overlooking definition queries or it may be that I am using a slightly out of date LGIM. For me it didn't change the area field in the definition queries for my waterbodies in the editing basemap in the AddressDataManagement map.

Neil, Usually there is enough information on the plat to get the curve in using the data entry grid. Sometimes surveyors forget to label things but other times the information you need is implied. Sometimes the lot lines radiating out from the curve are aligned with the radial line of the curve. Sometimes I have to come around from the other direction that may make the curve tangent. And other times you have to do some math. Can you post the plat? Jeff

Hey Folks, I am getting closer with my implementation of the Public Notification app. I was able to get the map working with my data, but I needed to add another Avery template (5389 - post cards). I was able to figure out the ReportLab tools to get everything on the page in the correct places with a logo and return address. The GenerateAveryLabels script tool works fine when I run it from ArcCatalog with some address data in the same format that the app will be passing - fields separated with a '~' and records separated with a '$'. The CSV option works fine (I didn't touch that code), but I can't get any of the Avery labels to work. Even the built in labels quit working, the only error text I get is the "Data not available for this particular location" error. When I check the console I get this text in the results for the second GET call (the first GET call is the GP submitJob which succeeds): {"jobId":"jb1002bd33a0941f1931714c5963c1211","jobStatus":"esriJobFailed", "messages":[{"type":"esriJobMessageTypeInformative" ,"description":"Submitted."}, {"type":"esriJobMessageTypeInformative","description":"Executing..."}, {"type":"esriJobMessageTypeError","description":"Failed."}]} Any thoughts? Thanks, Jeff

I did submit this as a support incident and the resolution was the following: Linepoints are not necessary in every polygon layer of the fabric; having them on the Lots & Units layer is normally sufficient without duplicating them in the Tax Parcels layer. Only the minimum required elements are carried along when a parcel is copied to a different layer, and linepoints are not required elements. There was, however, some unexplained behavior in some circumstances when rejoining parcels after duplication, and a bug report was filed. The bug mentioned was BUG-000082175 which doesn't seem to be getting much attention.
