As I know others are busy starting their promotional campaigns for GIS Day, I thought I would share some ideas that we have come up with at Lindenwood University that might be of use to others...
1. We created a tabbed Story Map GIS Day 2016! as our main promotional material. Participating municipalities and counties will be embedding the story map on their own web pages, newsletters, and so on to help promote the event. The link is easily inserted into campus emails, web pages, and newsletters as well.
2. To promote the ConnectED program and GeoInquiries we are going to create a GeoInquiries Passport activity. University students will be assigned to teach a GeoInquiry at one of four stations. Those visting/attending the event will be given a passport to visit the different stations, run through the activity, and then be given a stamp of completion. This gives the general public some hands on time using ArcGIS Online and will be something fun for parents/kids/school groups that could be attending.
I am sure there are lots of great ideas out there for GIS Day and would love to hear them and see them shared!
