How to turn off Edits in pop-up windows

I am finding that popup windows in AGO are now displaying Edits, and I don't see a way to turn them off - I don't see it in the Configure Pop-ups window.  Also, "Filter edits" seems to be a relatively new choice in the More Options of AGO layers, but there is no choice of "never display edits", so that doesn't get me there either.  Showing edits could be useful in certain contexts, but is not needed or relevant in others.  So is there a way to turn this feature off?  And once done, does it apply to that layer in that map only (like pop-ups), or to that layer in any map where it's used (like might be set on the layer details page)? Thanks.

Martin, can you add a screenshot to show specifically? If a layer is editable ((as in the "Breakfast Beverage" layer of http://arcg.is/2cXUoUc)), and not configured with any control over who may edit it, that may be hard to control. If a layer is saved in a 'not editable' condition, you shouldn't see edit options. So, between those extremes, there may be things you can do with a layer, or with a map/app, to let someone see but not edit. Don't think about popup controls, think about layer controls.

Thanks for the usual quick reply.  So here's the trick I found after playing: While signed in, on the Settings tab (which only shows up when signed in) for the layer's Item Details, I have to check the "Enable editing" box, even though I have no intention to make it editable, so I then have access to the next box "Keep track of who created and last updated features" which was checked off but grayed out, uncheck that one, then uncheck the "Enable editing" box, reload the project, and the "Edited by..." in the pop-ups is gone.  The second box still applied even though it was grayed out & Editing not enabled, making it a bit tricky and hard to notice.  One might think that if a major choice is not checked off, all the sub-choices that are grayed out below that major choice wouldn't apply - but apparently they still might apply.
